It's Thankful Thursday - July 30 2009

( Wildflowers from the Trail in Maine compliments of Scott)
~
~
Good Evening Sweet Encouragers,
~~~
I am late again today, had to run some errands
and had a few chats on the phone as well
~~~
Yesterday I meant to tell you a great tip I learned
from an email someone sent me awhile back that
I have tried and tested and found to be very useful.
~~~
Actually, I am quite thankful for it because it
makes my life a lil easier. You will laugh when
I tell you what it is, but I am serious!!
~~~
It is a very easy way to clean your microwave,
just take a cup of water and put it in the mircrowave
and heat it for 2-3 mins. then let it set for about
30 seconds or so, and wipe out your microwave
with a wet cloth or paper towel. It wipes clean
with no problem at all, or no need for soap or
anything, it is quick as can be. If you get delayed
for some reason, just repeat the process and do
it again. You will seriously love how easy this is.
~~~
Well, I am thankful today that I got a lot of things
returned that needed to be returned and made
$20.00 back in the process.
~~~
Also, thankful we had a "Chocolate Elvis" today,
(our favorite smoothie, in case you don't remember)
and one of my returns paid for it!!! ha
and I still had 2/3 of the money leftover.
~~~
I am thankful that Scott was able to work
today and again tomorrow with a friend since he does
need some moo-lah!
~~~
I am thankful that I don't have to cook tonight
cause we all had a late lunch.
~~~
I am thankful that we have finally started laying the tile
in our bathroom shower last Sat., and we are working
on it again tonight. (Hubby is drilling holes as I write for the tiles
that go where the faucets and stuff go. I am so ready for this
project to end, it has been going on about 9 mos. now.
No ones fault....just life happens when you are making
your plans!! ha
~~~
I am thankful for all the rain, especially since Scott just
fertilized everything, so it has gotten watered in nicely.
~~~
I am thankful for the new flowers Scott planted for us
and all the yard work he did this week.
~~~
I am thankful for my sweet hubby who is such a
handy guy. This is hard and tedious work and would
be a very expensive job if we had it done by a
professional tiler, yet it is looking like a professional
tiler is doing it!! yea Jimmy!!
~~~
And most of all... I am thankful to be alive and well,
and thankful to be a child of God, just doesn't get
any better than that!!
~~~
Well, I am off to assist with the tiling again, just
came back to finish up while he is drilling another
hole for the shower pipe.
~~~
Have a Great Weekend!!
~~~
Hugs and Blessings,
Nellie

P.S. and make sure you try that microwave tip,
I am telling you.........you will love it!!

What a fun day!!

Good Afternoon Sweet Friends,
~~
I am writing late again today............
but for a good cause...........................
I was having soooooooo muchhhhhhhhhh Funnnnnnnnn!!
~~
I got up, got my house in order, got myself dressed
made some coffee and spent the day with 2 sweet
friends. We talked and laughed and had a wonderful
time............there is nothing like spending quality
time with people you like and love!!
~~
My love language is quality time and words of
encouragement and physical affection, so my
cup is full today!!
I hope your cup is full today too, if not........
try and make some time to spend with those
you hold dear, it will sure boost your spirits.
~~~
Well, we are having a repeat of last nights
din din, but I will add in some Roast Pork
from the night before and a new veggie of
some kind. Have truly considered eating
the rest of the shrimp all day, in fact, I have
had to beat myself off!! ha
But I was a good girl and saved it to share
with Jimmy and Scott.
~~~
Scott came home, he spent the night at his
sisters last night, and then they towed his truck.
They have a homeowners association, so they
do not like it if you park on the street in front
of the condos, but usually you can do it in the
daytime, but he forgot and left it there all
night, and Dee woke up this morning and
said oh No, your car is gone, they probably
towed it, then they had to find out where to,
cause the towing service they usually use
is not working for them anymore.
What a mess............all to visit your sister!!
Must not be too bad he is going back again tonight!!
~~~
While he was home he planted some pretty
pink Zinnias that he bought at wally world
yesterday when he went to get fertilizer.
He has been doing some yard work for us,
and it is looking very nice, he has fertilized
everything!! He has also been looking for
a job.........he has sent in about 7 resumes
or filled out apps online. So please pray
the Lord will find him a good job that he
will really like. He has bought some things
to sell on ebay cause he had an ebay business
before he left. He had it for over 5 yrs.
and it was quite successful. He is a smart
guy and can find ways to make money if
he needs to......I really admire and respect
his ingenuity.
~~
Oh Yea, if anyone has tried to look at his pics
from the links I put on Mondays post and
you are having trouble, it could be that if you
are logged in to your facebook acct. you
can not get in, you have to log out and then
try it. Somebody else had trouble and they
found out how to do it, so thought I would
pass it along just in case.
~~~
Yall have a good night, ya hear!!
Love & Blessings,
Nellie

Yummy Din Din idea & a before & after lamp

Good Evening Lovlies,

~~~
Well, not much going on her today but cleaning,
I did get to talk on the phone with 4 ladies today,
2 of them twice, which is not my usual day.
So that was a really nice treat!!
~~~

Made a nice dinner. We had grilled shrimp on

skewers, basted with olive oil and sprinkled with lime pepper.

~~~
Have you ever had lime pepper??????? If you like
lemon pepper, you will luvvvvvvv lime pepper.
It is not as salty as lemon pepper, and I like it so
much better. Bought it at Sams wholesale.
~~~

We had black beans and yellow rice.

To my black beans I add a lot of garlic powder, some oregano,

onions, vinegar and olive oil, and when I

serve the beans I add cilantro on top.

~~~
Has everyone tried cilantro???????
I only found out about this great lil herb a few
years ago, it is lemony tasting and absolutely
delicious, I love it on just about anything
that you would want to be lemony tasting.
It is great on fish, in salsa, in salad,
that is about the extent of my uses.
Now I will be challenged to find new ways
to use it!!
~~~

We also had a nice salad with ranch dressing.

We were all happy lil campers with full tummies

when we left the table.

~~~
We had to wait for our dinner to settle and now
we have to do a workout for 30 mins. cause
we forgot to do it last night cause we were
fiddling with the links for the pics on my blog!! ha
~~~

Thought I would show you a before and after pic

of a lamps where I changed the shades.

I bought the lamp shades for my bedroom

lamps that are wooden and cylinder shaped,

but they didn't look good, so I was gonna take

them back, but I had them stashed in Scott's

room while he was gone till I could take them

back.........so when I started dusting and

sprucing up his room a bit before he came

home, I decided to bring the bean pot lamps

in that I used to have in my bedroom (they were

in the garage and I didn't want them to get broken

they have been around a while) In fact, I bought

those babies with S & H green stamps probably

27-28 yrs. ago. Do you remember Green Stamps.

Weren't they wonderful, I hate they quit doing

that, it was so much fun when you had no $$

to buy anything you could go there and getdd something

for free, what a sweet treat that was!!

Anyway, here is the lamp and shade that was

originally on it.
~~~
And this is with the new shade,
adds a lil of an asian flair, and I think it
makes it look more like a giner gar
than a bean pot.
~~
Don't know if it is my imagination
but I think it looks slimmer!!
and it gives it a new look,
found the shades at Lowe's on sale,
a great place to look for lampshades
by the way is Ross, just in case you
are in the market.
~~~
Just thought I would share that I know
how you guys love anything to do with
decorating, and so do I!!
~~~
The pic at the top is from my Family room,
and the pics were a great early spring find at Where else..........
But Wally World for $5.00 each, I just love them.
Sorry about the glare. Think you should be able to click
on the pic to enlarge if you want, it worked for me anyway.
~
I made the birdhouse and just noticed that the ribbon had
come lose and was just hanging there. Funny!!
~
The white book laying there by it's lonesome is a
book published by the ladies in our church some
years back, it is stories that we wrote about
God's goodness, in fact, Jess at Jewels for the
Journey, was the one who got it all started
and published for us.
~~~
Well, maybe tomorrow will be a more exciting day,
In fact, I know it will be cause I am getting together
with a few girlfriends, so that is always fun!!
~~~
See ya tomorrow,
After while Crocodile...........
~~
My exercise video is beckoning me.............
Love and Blessings,
Nellie
It's Monday, and links to Appalachian trail pictures
Picture taken from the Trail in Millinocket, Maine
Hello Sweet Friends,
~~~

Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Ours was nice....busy, but not too busy,

and we had a nice relaxing restful Sunday.

We got our nap in this week, we always

like that, and it gets us ready for the week ahead.

~~~
I am ecstatic because we finally started
tiling our bathroom shower area on Saturday. Yea!!!
~~~

It is looking very nice so far, so we can't wait to finish

and to be back using our master bath once again. It will be well

worth all the inconveniences. Course, we still have a lot of tiling to

do yet, but we did get most of the back wall done. Hubby is doing

a great job as usual, he is tiling, but I am assisting.

Will share some pics with you when we get her done.

That sounds so good..........get her done!! ha

~~~
Some of you said you would like to see Scott pics from the
Appalachian Trail so here are the links below:
We did 3 because there are so many pics and once you start, you can't
just go back and pick up where you left off, so thought it best to make 3 links.
They are in the order he made the trip.
~~~

http://www.facebook.com/p.php?i=1359254590&k=Z3CTY6T2PW31UCD1QB64QUVSP411
~~~
~~~
~~~
Just a note about the link in case you are as technically challenged as I am.
Once you get in... you should see a lot of small pics,
just click on the first one and it should make one large pic and then above
the pic on the righthand side it should say (prev/next) so you just click
on that and it will take you from pic to picture. Hope you enjoy the journey,
there are some really nice shots in there. Please do not download any
without permission......... my son has sweetly agreed to letting me show
them off, so don't want to make him regret that!! thanks!!
~~~
Am so hoping to hear Good News about a dear lady named Cindy,
who is a wife, and mother of 10 children, that has cancer.
Another blogger friend asked for those of us who felt led to
fast and pray for her blogger friend and that was today!!
That is how I spent my day until 5p.m., that is why you
didn't hear from me sooner. If you participated in this
wonderful opportunity may the Lord Bless you in
Amazing ways, and if you didn't hear about it before now,
you can still pray for Cindy and her family anytime.
I also prayed for a fellow in my church as well, who is
battling cancer and has a wife, and 3 children, his
name is Ken, if you feel led please pray for he and his
family as well. Both of these dear ones need a miracle
from the Lord!!
~~~
Well gang, I am off to get a shower and
go nite nite!!
Thanks for dropping by,
Hugs & Blessings,
Nellie
Have a Relaxing and Restful Sunday
Good Morning Dear Ones,
~~~

Hope Sunday is a very Special Day for you,

it certainly is for us. We love going to our church

and spending time learning and hearing God's word

being taught, singing and worshipping the Lord,

greeting and talking with dear friends,

and welcoming new comers, as well.

~~~
Hope you have a church home that you love
as well, if not, maybe you should try around
a few bible believing churches and see what happens.
It just might change your life for the better!
~~~

It certainly did change our life when we went

to this church that someone invited us to

Oh, so many years ago, 29 to be exact,

we went...... loved it, and have never left!

~~~
It is way up there on my list of the best
things that ever happened to me.
Coming to know Jesus is # 1
Marrying my husband #2
having my Son # 3,
having my daughter #4
so guess our church would be #5
~~~

When we came to church that first time,

our marriage was in trouble..........

and we knew it was time to get serious

with God, we were believers already,

but we were ignorant as a stone about

spiritual things and the bible, but

thru this wonderful church we have

learned so many things that helped us

put our marriage back on track, and

helped us know how God wanted us to

live our lives, and thru all that God
has so improved our marriage that
we can now teach marriage classes
and help others. Isn't God good!

~~~
Have a very Restful and Relaxing Sunday,
~~~
~~~
Todays Scripture
~~~
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law
he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
Psalms 1:1-3

Whatever he does prospers.............
I like that, how bout you??

Thankful Thursday - July 23, 2009

Hello Sweet Friends,
~~~
And Welcome to Thankful Thursday
~
Hope your day has been good,
mine has been so far, I have been
busy making cards all day. Plus we
had to take hubbies van to the shop
to get new brakes, so we were running
back and forth with that..............
~
but we did manage to get a "Chocolate Elvis"
Smoothie in, they come from Planet Smoothie
and if you have never had one, look up a
planet smoothie near you or ask your local
smoothie place to make you one or make your
own, we do it all the time. Have to admit
their's are better tho.
~~
The ingredients are:
1/2 banana or 1 whole one if you like
.
1 tbsp. of peanut butter
.
3-4 scoops frozen vanilla yogurt Or
cookies and cream yogurt
(If using vanilla add a tsp. of cocoa powder)
.
about 6 ice cubes
.
and then add milk (about 1/2-1 cup)
depends on the size of the container you are making it in.
~~~
Blend it well, and yum yum!!
~~~
Well, guess you can tell I am thankful for this special
smoothie, it is a nice treat for us, and it is pretty
heart healthy. One lady calls it a cup of Joy,
we concede!! ha
~~~
Well, I know yall know what I am thankful for
this week, but I have to say it anyway...........
~~~
We are happy and thankful that our Sylvester
Stallone and his sidekick Joey are home safe
and sound. This was his pic he took of himself
his first day on the trail, ready to conquer
the world, and he did conquer quite a pc.
of it, all of Maine and a lil bit of New Hampshire
about 300 miles on foot, sounds pretty good
to me!!
~~~
I am thankful for all the dear friends that we
have here and online that have faithfully prayed
for his safety and our nerves! ha
You were a blessing and we truly were not
worried 98% of the time, therefore, we
could actually enjoy it with him.
~~~
Also, I am thankful for our trip up to New
Hampshire and back, quick tho it was.
~~
Jimmy and I had talked about going to the
mountains early this year when we were
planning our vacation, before we knew Scott was
gonna hike the trail, but then decided on
the beach, but when Scotts first pics were
posted we were beginning to think we might
have made a mistake, but of course, we didn't
and we had a great time, as you know at the beach.
~~~
So we thought it pretty neat that the Lord
worked it out that we got to go see the mountains
this year as well, and that it was such an unexpected
adventure, cause at our age, we don't get many
of those type of adventures anymore........
and if we did we might not live to tell about it!! ha
and
I can take it off my bucket list now!!
(did you hear that Bonnie) ha!!
~~~
And as always I am totally grateful and awed
by God's beautiful land we call America.
~~
I know we have our problems but I am thankful
to be an American and I don't know anywhere
else I would rather live, and I thank the Lord
everyday for the priviledge of being an American,
because we are blessed people, and sometimes
we take it soooooooooo for granted.
Alright, Alright, I will step off my
soapbox for now!!
~~~
Also, I am thankful that I have a full tummy,
and can take a shower and sleep in a clean bed
every night with a roof over my head.
~~~
Do you ever wonder what it would be like
to sleep on a park bench or under a interstate
or even wonder where your next meal is
coming from, I do think about those types
of things, and it makes me abundantly
grateful to my Lord, for He is so good to me.
~~~
Well, have a downright good evening,
~
Thanks for dropping by

Blessings & Hugs,
Nellie

Our Whirlwind Trip Reveal

Happy Reveal Day,
~
~
Well, it is finally here.
The picture above is another picture from the Vermont
rest stop that I missed yesterday.
~
~
Well, here are the guesses I have had
by comments or email.

Upstate New York
Schenectady, New York
Poughkeepsie, New York
Western Vermont
Maine (3 guesses)
New Hampshire (2 guesses)
New Hampshire (The white Mountains)

~~~
~~~

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.............

~~

~~

~~

It would be New Hampshire (The White Mountains)
The name of the town is Gorham, New Hampshire

and it is right by the White Mountains and that

would have been his next climb.

~~~
~~~
Our winner is Noreen from http://www.nananors.blogspot.com/
Make sure to drop by to visit Noreen and Congratulate her
on a great guess.
~~~
~~~
~~~
CONGRATULATIONS NOREEN
You nailed it exactly,
and I will have your scenic cards
in the mail within the week.
~
~
~
Want to say a Big Thank You
to all of you who have lived
this adventure with us, and have
been so caring, concerned and prayerful and
excited for all of us. You were truly a blessing
and it made it fun to be able to share our
lives with you.
~
~
This was a nice lil creek in back of the McDonalds where
we had lunch at a picnic table in the shade,
it was lovely and reminded us of a time when
we found another spot like it on a vacation in
Murphy, N. Carolina.
~
Same Spot
This was on the way back in a small town near Gorham
we stopped at a lil Gift shop, and bought some
New Hampshire syrup, the proprietor and her
husband own acres and acres of maple trees
and make their own syrup. How neat is that.
The syrup is wonderful, by the way.
This was by the Gift shop, hubby was watching
Joey and taking pics while Scott and I shopped
for a few minutes. He was also taking pics, God
Bless Him!!
This was from the side of the gift shop,
He forgot to walk around front of the shop
to get a shot, but remember he was
babysitting Joey. ha!!
This was a really neat bridge we saw on the
way in New Hampshire. This was taken out of the car
window, believe it or not!!
Actually, Vermont and New Hampshire were our
all time favorite parts of the trip.
The lil towns in New Hampshire were just delightful
and so quaint. Gorham was really neat town
as well. The population is about 1800 people.
You will see more of the town when we put
up the link next week.
On the road back thru Vermont coming home,
the scenic beauty of Vermont was just so
Wonderful and refreshing, we loved every minute
of it.
~~~

We thank the Lord for his grace in having us

decide to go get him cause it was neat for him and for us
to see some of what he had seen. Plus after we
drove it we could understand why the Lord would
not want anyone to drive it alone, cause there is no
way you can drive and read the directions in
the New york, New Jersey area.

Anyone could get hopelessly lost in that place,

cause a few times we thought we were...

but thankfully, we found I-95 again. Shew...........

On the Road Again!!

Does Joey look content or what!!
~
~
~
Well, we covered 12 1/2 states in 3 1/3 days with
60 hrs. actually driving time!!
~~~
~~~
A lot of territory let me tell you, but we realized
that if it wasn't for this adventuresome son of
ours, we would not have had our own adventure
story to tell. It has really been a hout for us too!!
Once we got used to the idea!! ha
~~
~~
~~
Well, thanks for participating in my lil contest,
I thought it would make for a fun time.
~
~
~
Oh Yea, almost forgot!! Hubby says he thinks
we can give you a link so that you can see the pictures
from Scott's trip. He started in Maine, by the way!!
So look for the link next week once we figure it out. ha

~
~
Have a Blessed Day Now, Ya Hear!!
~~
~~
Love and Hugs,
Nellie

PS. Just so you know, I did not post this until about 12:30

but I did start downloading pics @ 9:10 a.m or whatever it

says about what time it was posted, don't know why it

does that!! Strange!! Have a good one!!

Guess where our whirlwind trip took us???? part 2

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,
~~~
Hope your day is going well so far!
Below and above are the two darlings we went
after on our trip. Joey looks bright eyed
and busy tailed as my Grandmother used to say.
She has lost quite a bit of weight but looks great,
Scott had fattened her up some before he left
for that reason.
~~~
~~~
And here is our main Darling.........
Scott looks great too, but he was thin already,
and almost looks a lil bit too thin, course, I am
sure he will put it back on rather quickly
now that he isn't climbing hills and mountains
everyday. Guess we should have fattened
him up too!! ha
The picture above and the rest of the ones below
were all taken while we were out of the car
at a Vermont rest stop.
You knew I would have to get some flowers
in here somewhere. These lilies were growing
all over in so many states where we were.
Scott says the daylilies spread like wildfire
in the colder regions cause they like the
cold and make underground roots in the
winter while they look dormant, they are
busy getting ready for spring.
Plus the soil is so rich and and holds
the water and nutrients unlike our
sandy soil in Florida.
Thought that was a lovely tree, have no idea
what kind it is!!
This nice view was in back of the rest stop.
We saw places where their were houses on the mountains
across the road from here, and this was the view they
had. I told Jimmy I don't know what would be better
waking up to that every morning or the beach.
That would be a hard contest!!
more of the lovely lilies at the rest stop.
Loved this burgundy one, had seen them earlier
at a MD. rest stop but didn't have the camera
out of the car with me, there were oodles of them.
So very pretty!!
another scenic view from the back of the rest stop.
~~~
~~~
Well, we left out Friday morning to go get
Scott and it was a 41/2 hr. drive over to
where he and Joey were, so I will show
you the few pics I have of that tomorrow
when I tell you where we went.
~~~
~~~
If you haven't ventured a guess yet,
make sure you leave a comment on yesterday's
or todays blog by noon on Wed.July 22nd,
so I can announce the winner
of the scenic notecards that afternoon.
~~~
~~~
Remember if you already know because I
told you or you saw it on Scott's facebook
that disqualifies you. Sorry, but we have
to play fair!! ha
~~~
~~~
~~~
Well............Happy Guessing,
See ya on Wednesday with the scoop!!
~~~
Hugs & Blessings,
Nellie
Guess where are whirlwind trip took us???? Part 1
Well, Good Morning Sweet Friends,
~
We are back from our whirlwind adventure,
and the following are pictures from a woman
on a mission, who is making a desperate attempt to
make this not only a needed trip, but to add a little
fun into the quick mix, if you get my drift!!
We left at 10 P.M. on Wed. evening and drove all night.
These pics are from the next day, this was in Md.
taken out of the car window, we didn't have time for
stopping along the way.
This was taken as we were waiting in traffic in Md.
This one too!!
This one too, left in the bridge walls for affect!! ha
I believe this was off the bridge in New York
This was a huge expansion bridge in New York.
This too! Taken out of front windshield!!
This was out the car window on a double decker bridge,
you can see New york skyline in the back.
This was in Manhattan on I-95.
The Traffic, frightening!!
Can not imagine doing this everyday,
once in a lifetime was enough for me!!
At one point we were on I-95 surrounded
by semi-trucks, I thought we might be
going to heaven soon!!
Those truckers are road bullies, let me
tell you!!
And everyone is a crazy driver,
fast and furious, doesn't even describe it!!
This is another shot off the bridge,
I know, I know, told you I was desperate!!
Here is another!
We were stuck in this bumper to bumper stuff for quite
awhile. I think from Md. to Conn. the traffic was
pretty slow, so took a lot of time.
Have no clue where this was!!!
Think maybe it was Connecticut
Think this was in Connecticut
We drove for 24 hrs. and then stayed in a hotel, we got into the
town at 8 p.m. and didn't get to our hotel until 10 p.m., cause we
were driving along I-95 and ran out of exits all of a sudden,
the last we saw was exit 6 and then it took us all thru town and we
saw no exits at all, so finally stopped to ask someone, so they gave
us directions but when we got to the next exit, it was #16,
so we are wondering what the heck happened to exit 7-15???
Did aliens come and abduct them or what??
So we saw exit 16 and thought well, maybe if we go a lil further
it will be exit 15,
WRONG!!
it was exit 17, and we could not find an exit to get off and go the
other direction for about 30 mins., so then we got turned around and
headed south and saw the exit going down from 16, 15, and
so forth, so we spotted a Cracker Barrel went and got some take
out cause we were starving and took it to our hotel room.
We were never soooooo glad to see the inside of a hotel room
in our lives. We ate and then went right to bed on it,
not a great idea, but we were so dogged tired who cares,
and slept like logs!! We actually felt pretty
good the next morning. God is so good!!
~~~

So we got up later than originally planned
and headed out about 8:30, and it took us
41/2 hrs. to get to where Scott was!!
~~~
Needless to say He and Joey were pretty
happy to see us, I think he was beginning
to feel he was never gonna get out of this place.
And needless to say we were very happy
to see He and Joey as well.
~~~

He has lost 14 pds., some of it could have
been from when he was sick, but most of
it from the hiking trip. Joey is very svelte
as well!! Scott is feeling much better
and we thank all who have prayed for
him and of course, the Lord for his
healing hand upon him.
~~~
We arrived home at 6 a.m. Sunday
Morning and slept and rested all day long.
~~~

In case you didn't notice, I still did not
tell you where we went to get him,
that is because I decided to have a little
fun with you. I thought it would be neat
to have you leave a comment and guess
where we went!! I will do the reveal
on Wednesdays post, and the winner
will win 6 oversized notecards with
beautiful scenery on them.
~~~
Have a Wonderful Sunday
Good Sunday Morning Friends,
~~~
We have seen a lot of these in the past few days,
and they were breathtakingly beautiful, and
very soothing and peaceful.
~~~
Hope your Sunday is soothing and peaceful
as well. I am just wanting mine to be soothing,
safe and full of sleep, since we want be home
till the wee hours of the morning.
~~~
Scott has done the bulk of the driving so far
today, which has been a real blessing for us.
I imagine he will get tired at some point and
one of us will need to relieve him.
~~~
I will leave you with the scripture for today.
~~~
~~~
"I lift up my eyes to the hills,..... where does my help come from,
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1 & 2
~~~
~~~
from my laptop in the backseat,
Have a Wonderful Sunday,
~~~
Hugs & Blessings,
Nellie
P.S. We just crossed the N.C. border. Yea!!!
another state down!!

Whirlwind trip

Good Morning sweet friends,
~
Just in case you are wondering what happened to me this
week, just want to let you know all is well.
We had an exasperating day on Wed. trying to find a
way home for Scott and everytime we thought we had
a plan nothing worked or was just outrageouly
expensive, so hubby and I just decided to go get him
~~~
As I type this we have our AT hiker and are on the
way home, I am writing from the hotel in Md.
and we will be heading out soon. I am typing from a
laptop, and I am not great on this thing.
~~~~
We had service in the car but it was spotty, I tried to
write on Wed and thurs but to no avail. Anyway, we
should arrive at home after another 14 hrs. on the
road. Will fill you in on details on Monday.
~~~
If you feel inclined please pray
for no delays in traffic, and of course
safety and good health. Scott seems to be
feeling much better today, he had sort of gotten
a relapse, and I was feeling sort of queasy,
think that was from being awake so long.
We drove straight thru for 24 hrs.
The things you do for your children!! ha
~~~
Well, have a great day.

Blessed by the presence of our children

Good Morning Everyone...........
~~~
Well, I finally got the word this morning,
We will be blessed with Scott's presence soon.
We are very happy about that!! God is so good!!
~~~
However, we didn't hear from him yesterday
because he was very sick, vomiting and diahrrea sick.
Sounded very weak this morning and hadn't tried to
eat anything yet, so please pray it will be a quick bug
or whatever. He didn't know if it was maybe food
posioning or just that he has been eating so much.
~~~
We are so grateful this didn't happen until he was
in a town, cause with him being wet so much from
hiking in the rain I was concerned it might happen
out on the trail somewhere. Like I said,
God is sooooooo good!!
~~~
My sweet sister-in-law offered to go and get him,
so she and I are thinking about that, but we really
think he would be home sooner if he fly's, cause
it will be a 24 hr. drive there and back. Will check
in with him later in the day to see how he is doing.
~~~
The picture above was taken Dec. 21st, 2009,
at my daughter, DeeAnna's graduation from
Radiology School.
Figured you would like to see a picture of them
since you hear about them on my blog.
Scott is going to be 32 in November,
DeeAnna will be 25 next month!!
~~~
Last night we were also blessed with our daughter
DeeAnna's presence as well. She came over for
dinner, then did my hair. We always have a fun time
talking with her, she is truly a riot sometimes.
and she is the best hairdresser I have ever had.......... really!!
~~~
Also thought I would give you my favorite way to make Tilapia.
Our whole family just loves it like this and
We had it for din din last night, with baked potatoes, and raw
brocoli and ranch dip or you could add a salad, that is what I
usually do, but was mowing the lawn and the brocoli was easier.
It is very easy to make in this hot summer weather when you
don't feel much like cooking anyway.
~~~~
Directions for Tilapia
~
As many tilapia filets as you want
~~~
Spray a glass baking pan with cooking spray,
add the tilapia filets, then drizzle with olive oil
or italian dressing, sprinkle with garlic powder,
salt and pepper to taste.
Then bake for 20 mins. in a 350 degree oven.
~
Take it out, but leave the oven on, and sprinkle with
shredded mozzarella cheese, fresh diced tomatoes and
chopped cilantro, stick it back in oven for just a few mins.
till the cheese melts and the tomatoes and cilantro warm.
Remove from oven................
~
And Enjoy A Very Easy Tasty Din Din
~~~
Happy Eating my friends,
God Bless You
Love and Hugs,
Nellie
~~~
P.S. If you ever have fish, shrimp or scallops
and it smells very fishy...
Soak it in milk for about 30 mins or longer,
and it totally gets rid of the fish smell
and fishy taste. Love it, cause I hate
fish that taste like fish.
~
P.S.S. also you can make a double batch
of the tilapia cause it reheats well, so that
is usually what I do, so we get 2 meals out
of it, since I am now only cooking for 2 or 3
when Scott is here.
~~~
Bye Now!!

Update from the Appalachian trail

Good Morning Sweet Friends,

~~~
Hope you all had a good weekend.
~~~

Ours was good, a bit rainy but the grass looks
great, definitely in need of mowing so hoping it rains
early and dries out before we try to mow it this evening.

~~~
We had a long conversation with our son yesterday,
he is in a new town. It is possible he might be coming home.
He is going to see if he can find some temporary work so he can
stay in the town for a few weeks.
~~~

Joey is on the

verge of foot problems..........

her nails on her back legs have worn down

so much it is just about to wear on the pads

of her paws, she is fine not in any pain or anything,

but he knows she will be if he continues.

~~~
so he is thinking that maybe if he could get
work for a few weeks and she could rest up
and her nails could grow back out he might
be able to continue on for a little bit more.
~~~

So it is up to the Lord at this point,

he sounded tired, but I think he wants to

continue on yet he is okay too, with

coming home if that is the case.

~~~
He says he is very very hungry......
think that is his body going into the survival mode from
all the weight loss. If he is so hungry I am sure Joey
must be also.
He said he talked to some other people who have been out longer
than he has and they said it only gets worse. He was told by
many of them to start adding more protein into his evening meal
because the protein repairs muscle tissue while
you are sleeping. So he has started to do that!!
~~~
He said he has just gotten to where he is feeling pretty good
physically now, not so sore all the time, and he said
it is really wierd when he takes his pack off, he feels like he is
walking on air or something like that. He says he actually
feels more comfortable with the pack on than off!!
Amazing how your body adjusts to things, isn't it!
an amazing machine!!
~~~
He says he thinks even if he comes home now the trip has done
wonders for him... heart healing wise.
I am soooooo happy to hear that!!
~~~
He has really hiked the worst part of the trail and in the
worst weather, so told him he should really be very
proud of himself for what he has accomplished. Even
if he does come home I think he will go back and do some more
at another time, maybe for vacations or something, who knows!!
~~~
He is suppose to call us back today to let us know what he is
gonna do,
so will let you know tomorrow!!
~~~
Of course, we all want him to come
home, cause we miss him, but we want whatever the Lord
knows is best for him.
~~~
Thanks for dropping in,
this is what is going on in our neck
of the woods, so see ya tomorrow.
~~~
~~~
Have a great Monday!!
~~~
Oh Yea, Forgot to tell you, the picture above is one of
his many pictures from the trail. I happened to have
it handy cause I used it to make a Birthday card for my brother .

Nellie

Have a Sweet Soothing Sunday

Welcome to Thankful Thursday July 9, 2009

Hello and Welcome to Thankful Thursday..............
~
~
It has been a rather dismal day around here
since we had a lot of rain today, and I was
feeling rather out of it for some reason.
~
Then during hubby's lunch break we did
a 45 minute workout and that seemed to
help me get a lil more with it!!
~
Oh yea, rec'd a text from our son
today and he is doing well, had a hard
day of hiking ahead, rough terrain,
but thankfully the weather is good today.
When he get to his destination today
he will have hiked 249.5 miles.
Isn't that amazing, at least it is to me!!
~~
~~
Well, now on with Thankful Thursday...........
I am thankful this week for the little "Glimpses
of Heaven" that the Lord gives to us at times.
You know what I mean. Maybe it is an event,
or a special occasion, or a sweet unexpected
surprise, or special time you have with another
person, when everything just seems like it
couldn't get any better than this............
it was so perfect, it was so enjoyable, it
was amazingly wonderful!!
That is how we felt about our vacation
last week "That it was like a lil corner
of Heaven", and we got to talking and
pondering that thought and were thinking
if life down here can be this good,
just imagine what Heaven is really
gonna be like...............
~~~
~~~
All I know is I am glad I am going there!!
I definitely want to be there,
and I know that when I do get there
everything down here will just sooooooooo
pale in comparison.
But I am still thankful for God's lil Glimpses,
cause it helps prepare me and make me
looks forward to the real thing!!
~~~
~~~
Well, Hope you have an enjoyable evening
and a great weekend!!
~~
~~~
See ya Sunday
~~~
Blessings, Nellie

What I have been up to this past week Part 2

( Lamp I forgot yesterday)

Good Morning Dear Hearts,

~~~
Hope this new day finds you well and happy.
I just rec'd a text from my son, so that always
makes me happy, he is on his way to the next
lean to and it is cold and rainy again. Bless his
heart!! He has now hiked 224.8 miles. I relate
that to driving from Homestead Fl. down to
Key West, Fl. and back, cause that is 200 miles,
and that is flat land, he has had mudpits, hills and
mountains to climb, log bridges and damns to cross,
and streams and rivers to forge. I can't even
begin to imagine what that must be like.
It used to take us 6 hrs. to drive from homestead to
Keywest and back and it seemed like a long time.
We lived in Homestead way back when we
were only married a few years, and I worked
part time as a Lutheran church Secretary typing
bulletins on a manual typewriter that had
keys that stuck all the time. (anybody
remember those dinosaur typewriters???) ha
Makes me laugh to myself when I think about it!!
I have lots more pics to show you of our
beach get away!!
This was the Sunrise I saw off the back patio
What a glorious sight and gift for our first Sunday there.
I love to get up early when we are at the beach
and sit outside in the quiet with the Lord.
No one is up or stirring yet and you have the whole
place to yourself.
This is part of the pool area.
The tall part is where the restrooms are
located, and you can see another condo
across the road.
We found that if we went out to the pool about
8:30 or so and about 5:30p.m. we could have the
pool all to ourselves, so that was our schedule
and it was great. Eventually people would start
to come in the morning but we were usually
ready to go in and have breakfast by then.
We walked out this gate to the pool, cause we
are the first unit by the pool, and it is great
cause we can look out the window and see
how busy the pool is, and we can also sit
out on the patio as well.
This was the view from the back sliding doors
Where the grass starts you can see just the
edge of the patio area where we ate breakfast
a few mornings. The sand gnats were pretty
bad if the wind wasn't blowing or we would
have sat there every morning.
This is a little bridge that lead to the beach at
the other end of the condo. We could see it
from our patio and had to walk across it at
least once just for the experience.
That is where I took the shot of the
Seagrape leaves you will see later on.
This was a shot just as the sun was rising
but the sun was too strong to take it
straight on, there were no clouds to cover it.
This was as close to the sun as I could get
at that moment. It is amazing how the
sky changes from minute to minute.
I just love it!!
These are some Florida wildflowers growing
on the beach, I think possibly the hurricane
might have brought in some seeds with it,
cause there are also black eyed Susans
growing everywhere too, and none of that
was there the last time, and there also
were no sand dunes, but there is now.
Small tho they are!!
This was a shot straight out the back door,
on one of the dismal days, but usually the
storms passed pretty quickly. That structure
is for a tent. There were 3 up, and people just
take the canvas in and put it back up the next
day, and no one messes with them.
How cool is that!! I thought the surf might
wash them away. That was one thing that
was really strange to us .........
we have never seen the East coast beach be
this calm before, we did not see one whitecap
accept for when it rained one afternoon, but
once it was over that was it calm as could be.
Looks more like the West coast of Florida.
Hubby does really enjoy playing inthe waves,
but oh well, not this time, but I don't think
he really cared.
This lil dove showed up one morning while
we were having breakfast looking for water.
We felt like we were on touched by an Angel
when he flew off making his lil cooing noise.
So neat!!
Heres one of the dunes with the black eyed Susans.
Caught these cute lil sandpipers.
I get the biggest kick out of how they run so fast.
I kept trying to get closer to get a better
shot but they ran faster than I could walk.
You would think their lil legs would fall off! ha
This was just a view up the beach.
This is the condo we stayed in!
from this view we are on the 1st floor
on the right side. It is called Ponce
Inlet Club South and it is one Ponce
Inlet in case anyone might be coming
to Florida and be interested in staying
there. We met a lot of really nice
people, most of them were from Georgia
and quite a few of them were Christian
people. So that was neat too.
The mgr. of the place is a young lady
I would say in her late 20's, and
she does an awesome job, and is
friendly and helpful as can be.
another beach view.
another beach view.
I just love looking at the sand patterns the
water makes. Each one is so unique.
God is just so amazingly creative
with all that He does!!
Awesome Really!!
Here are more patterns
And some more patterns.
We walked on the beach every morning
and every evening. It was fun getting our
exercise this week!!
We found this neat sandcastle some
children made (I guess)
Thought it was neat how they added
the wildflowers and shells.
Here's another shot.
Here's a pretty shot of all the wildflowers
on the beach, shot this off the lil bridge.
another shot of condo, you can see the bridge
from this end and how it empties onto the
beach. We saw a bride and groom having
their pics taken right near there on the
Friday before we left and all of a sudden
it started pouring, so the bride and groom
were soaked cause she couldn't run fast
in her long dress. In fact, he ran off
and left her, guess he didn't realize she
couldn't run fast and then realized
and turned around and came back
to get her, but they were both
just soaked, I felt so bad for them.
Hope they at least got some nice
pics before they got all wet!!
Some beautiful Hibiscus flowers.
These were shots right before the sun
came up I believe. One morning we were
walking the beach as the sun came up.
It was wonderful!!
Took this at the same time, this could be
when the sun was going down as well,
Not sure, but I think I took some one
of our last days just before dawn.
These are of sunset.
These were all taken in the same day,
could not resist taking them the sky was
just ablaze with His glory!!
Makes me think of the ole saying:
Pink in the morning
sailors take warning.
Pink in the evening
a sailors delight!
(I think that is how it goes)
We saw the most glorious sunrises and sunsets.
They would have been worth the whole trip!!
These last shots were all of sunrise
Can you see the tiny boat out there,
it was a kayaker!
When we weren't on the beach or in the pool,
we were watching HGTV or Animal planet,
eating, reading, talking, praying or napping.
We had some great talks and came up with
a lot of great ideas spiritually, for my blog,
and for rearranging things in the house.
And Bonnie we started getting some ideas
for our bucket list. We think maybe when
we retire we would like to rent our house
to someone we can trust for a few months
of so and rent a place at the beach.
I also remembered I have always wanted
to take a trip in an RV, so if our son doesn't
get to finish his Appalachian trail experience
and goes again, we might follow him in an
RV one day. He told us about another family
that did that!! That would be neat!!
If the Lord tarries............
~~~

Hope you enjoyed your trip to the beach

and were inspired by all that natural beauty,

You know it inspires my heart,

there is nothing like it to boost your faith.

~~~
Have a Really Great Day!!
~
Thanks for stopping by,
~
Loves and Hugs, Nellie
