Welcome to Thankful Thursday - October 28, 2010

May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts
be pleasing even to you, O Lord,
 my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14 (Living Bible)

Hello Sweet Peas,

So how has your week been so far??

Going well,  I hope!!

Hope this Thursday finds you feeling hopeful
and Thankful...........but if not,  perhaps.....
you have come to the right place!!

It's been a good week,  sorta quiet and not so
busy which has been nice.  We did go visit some
one at the hospital last evening, and then went
looking around at TJ Maxx and Michaels,  so
that was fun!!

*
So guess that could be my
#1
 thankful,
*
I am thankful
for fun stores like........like JoAnn's,  HomeGoods,
Kirklands, Ross, Pier One, and the aforementioned
ones we went to last night.  Think most ladies love
stores that have decorations and crafting of any kind,
and fabrics,  it's just all so pretty and fun to look at!!

*
#2
I am thankful
for books, dvd's, and marriage materials and
seminars that offer wonderful information to
help us have marriages that can be all God
wants them to be.
 *
#3
I am thankful
for so many people the Lord has raised up
to write and teach on marriage and family,
like James Dobson, Gary Smalley,
 Bruce Wilkerson, Emerson Eggerichs,
Gary Chapman,  Jimmy & Karen Evans,
and John & Stasi Eldridge and
Ed Young Jr. and Sr. to name a few.

Because Strong marriages make for
strong families,  strong families, make for
strong churches,  and strong churches make
 for strong communities.

*
#4
I am thankful
a dear friend is coming over tonight to visit,
it has been awhile since I have seen her in
person,  we have spoken on the phone but
it is more fun to get together in person.

*
#5
I am thankful
for the creativity that God has and how he
made our world so beautiful to live in.....
can you imagine everything in black and
white,  you look out the window and it is
black and white,  veggies and fruits black
and white,  clothing black and white!!

Oh..........imagine a sunrise or sunset or
sky in black and white!!  Ick!!

How dull and boring that would be and
how very unappetizing our food would be.

*
#6
I am thankful
for good foods like; fruits and veggies, and
nuts,  meats, lowfat dairy,  and wholegrains.
They are not only nutrious but delicious as well.

*
#7
I am thankful
the weather has been so nice that we have
had the simple pleasure of sitting out in
the backyard and reading the paper on
Sunday afternoons.
Such a nice change of pace!

I am thankful
that the sun rises each morning,  and the sun
sets each evening and the moon rises every night,
certainly shows us the faithfulness of God and
 His wonderful creativity.

These are just some interesting shots I took of the moon recently.
The one above was taken with the flash and one below  was
 not taken with flash.
This one below looks a bit spooky!!
Was planning to put other pics on my blog today but then because
 of my thankfuls I
remembered these pics.

#9
I am thankful
for different versions of the Bible.  I used to always
read the Living bible when I was a new christian, and
haven't read it for quite a long time now, but  just recently
I came across it in the cabinet and decided to read it
along side the Bible I now read all the time,
 The New International Version.
I have really enjoyed it I must say.

*
#10
I am thankful
for colorful scented candles and oils,  that give
our home a lovely aromatic fragrance and a
warmth and glow of love and friendliness.
I especially love them this time of the year
and throughout the winter.
They add a special Ambiance all of their own!!

I am thankful
for a lovely quote I saw recently about marriage.
It is by Martin Luther, and I had never seen
or heard it before,  but it is so true!!

"There is no more lovely, friendly and charming
relationship, communion or company than a
good marriage."

and it will be going on my side bar as soon as
hubby gets time to help me.

#12
I am thankful
the Florida Sunshine.  I have just come from
sitting out in it for about 10 mins., and it feels
so delicious!! My body just soaks it up, and it
makes me feel so great........all that vitamin D
and it boosts melatonin levels which makes
you feel good all over!!

I have to say I am far far from being a sun
worshipper.  I can usually only stand no more
than 15-20 mins,  unless we are at the beach
with a pool handy.  But I do try to sit out a
few times a week.  Haven't done it lately,
so that is probably why it felt all the more
delicious!!

Well,  Sweetie Peeties,

That is my Thankful List for this week!!

Hope you have a Thrilling Thursday
and a Fun Friday!!

Love, Blessings and Cozy Hugs,
Nellie

P.S.
For those of you who are participating in the
140 Days of prayer for our nation,  this is
week #17 and our scripture reading is from
Genesis 2:24
We are to pray about the departure from
the Biblical view of Marriage.

Sorry I am so late,  just totally forgot
to include it this week!!  OOPS!!
At least we have been praying!!

  2. Good evening Nellie,
As always i am so blessed by your thankful list, I love all the stores you mentioned, just have so much fun looking around in them, but have got to the place that I spend more time at TJ Max.
Loved all your photos, I have a hard time photographing the moon. When we came home the other night there was the biggest moon coming over the horizon, but just couldn't get it.
    The quote was so true.
thanks for sharing, and enjoy your visit with your friend.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  4. Hi Nellie

I am so thankful for the fun stores too. I just love them. I am always looking for a good bargain.
Isn't it great how much we enjoy the joys in live that don't cost a thing, fresh air, beautiful sky, sunshine,& rain. I am enjoying the rain now.
Thank you for sharing my friend!

    Have a good day!
    Blessings & Hugs

  6. HELLO PRECIOUS NELLIE,
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY TO SEE ME.
YOU ARE SUCH A JOY. I LOVE TO READ YOUR THANKFUL LISTS AND I LOVED THE SCRIPTURE YOU USED TODAY SO MUCH THAT I AM GOING TO PUT IT ON MY SIDE BAR.
MY CATS, ANDY, WALKER AND SPACEY SEND A HUG TO MOLLY....MY SAMMEY AND ROMEO SEND HUGS TO JOEY AND ROSIE AND THEY WOULD BE THANKFUL TO CHASE LIZARDS WITH THAT PRECIOUS JOEY. WHAT A WONDERFUL POST ON JOEY.
THE PICTURE OF AMY IS IN HER HALLOWEEN OUTFIT. SHE HAS ALWAYS LOVED HALLOWEEN AND TO ME IT IS HAPPY HARVEST. FOR SOME REASON WHEN SHE HIT THE AGE OF 25, EVERY YEAR SHE WAS A BUTTERFLY OF DIFFERENT COLORS UNTIL HER LAST YEAR AND SHE WANTED TO BE DOROTHY. SHE WAS FULL OF JOY AND GIGGLES.
HOW IS YOUR SON DOING AND DID YOUR HUSBAND FIND A JOB....YOU ALL MAY NOT BE PUNCHING A TIME CLOCK BUT THE WORK YOU ARE DOING FOR THE LORD IS ETERNAL AND PEOPLE ARE SO IN NEED AND HURTING AND THEY CAN'T SEE TOMORROW, LET ALONE ETERNAL. I HAVE ALWAYS FOUND WHEN YOU GIVE TO THE LORD, HE WILL CHASE YOU DOWN WITH BLESSINGS.
MAY WE ALWAYS STAY IN TOUCH AND PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERSUALEM. I HAVE PRAYED FERVENTLY FOR THIS COUNTRY...TO PULL DOWN THE STRONGHOLDS OF PORNOGRAPHY AND THE IMMORALITY OF THIS COUNTRY.
    LOVE AND HUGS

  7. #1. My problem is if I can't buy it, I don't want to look at it, ha!
#2. I am thankful too for the books I have gotten also. The Christian study books surely help me to escape and learn so I can come back to the world with a better guidance from the LORD.
#3. It IS great! We need more Christian people to rise up and start study and help guides for those who are single in life (especially when we get older.)
#4. My dear friend (Alice) and I had a night out Thursday! It was the Orlando Magic's first game in the new Amway Arena! Boddy couldn't go due to his foot operation, so I got to go in his place! (They have seasonal tickets!) I drove and paid $20.00 bucks to park right outside the Arena! After all, my ticket was paid for by their seasonal pass! We got free Orlando Magic t-shirts, posters, it was really great. We left at half-time due to having to go to work Friday. We got home at 10:30 p.m. It would have been after 1:00 a.m. otherwise!
#5. We can't even imagine what GOD has instore for us in the New Jerusalem and the New Earth!! Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor can it enter man's imagination what HE has instore for us!!! The beauty of this world will be deem compared to HIS GLORY!
#6. Seeing your seed package of squash reminds me of Uncle Leslie! He was a seed salesman and always brought seed packets of every kind when he came to visit us. I think that's what got dad into gardening when we lived in the Keys!
#7. I love going out in the cool of the evening with the moon shining down and a beautiful clear sky with sparkling stars! If it were not for having to walk Xena on leash, I would have missed all this beauty!
#8. That's another reason I like to look at the sky. When the day has been so warm, it causes the fog to rise. In the early mornings before the sun comes up, I'm walking Xena again and the cool fog just wraps me in its moisture!
#9. This is really so! I also read the commentary part that goes along with the scripture. Each Bible version has its commentary written in a different way, but it all comes out to be the same meaning!
#10. I have so many (gifts from the children) I need to start using mine now too!
#11. And for those of us who do not have a companion, the LORD GOD gave us HIS beautiful animals!! Many people don't understand when they have no "need" for an animal. But those of us who do, the LORD has done some amazing things through his creatures! Romans speaks of their eternity too in 8:21-22, "...for the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the Glorious Liberty of the Children of God!" His animal kingdom is also delivered along with those who have accepted Christ as their Savior!
#12. Dry heat is nice! However, I like moist heat better. You know, hot tub, bubbling spa!
    Have a great week-end!
I love you all very much,
    Susie

  8. Hi Nellie!

Here I am at last. When I look through all my blogroll friends I always want to save yours for last so I can write a longer comment and not feel like I am rushing. If you read my blog today you will see what I have been thinking regarding the computer and finding some balance in all of it.

I just love your Thursdays and thankfulness. It is so good for us to take stock all the time of the things that we have been blessed with and voice them. How can you be unhappy and thankful at the same time? Not possible.

I love you thoughts on marriage and also what the prayer group is praying for this week. Check this out a proclamation on the family that we feel very close to.
    http://lds.org/library/display/0,4945,161-1-11-1,00.html

This is the basis of a happy family life and so well thought out and said.

It is November already. Wow, this year has flown by so quickly and it is nearly time to turn our thoughts to Christmas. We are going to Utah for Christmas but not until the 21st so I am going to do the decorating and have some dinner parties with friends. I have to get online and order some fun things for my little ones and their parents soon too. It all comes so quickly or I am just getting slower. Probably both.

How are things going in the job search? I think about that all the time and hope you guys are doing OK. I have friends here that are really struggling as they start up a new business. I am one of those unrealistic people that just wants everything to be great 24/7 for everyone I care about. Not God's plan though.

Anyway, I hope you are OK and I know it has been good for you and Jim to have so much time together. It will be a big adjustment again when he starts working again. But you will do well because you are centered in the Savior and that makes all the difference.

Love you, dear friend...I hope you like the Proclamation on The Family.

    Hugs, AB
