Tablescape Thursday - Thanksgiving table 2011

Evenin' Sweet Friends,

So how in the world are you??

Seems like ages since I posted, and it is only
 been a week..............funny!!

Well, guess I am up to the same thing you are
this time of the year,  taking down Fall decor
and putting up Christmas decor, and shopping.
I have done a lot more online shopping this
year cause the kids have sent me links to
things they would enjoy, and that has
simplified things a lot!!

We had a very nice Thanksgiving and were
all able to be together,  which is the most
precious blessing of all.

Just after I had stripped the house of all
the Fall decor, and "it was looking a lot
like Dullsville", everywhere I turned!!  lol
we got a call from an old friend we haven't
seen in over 25 years ( he lives in Missouri)
and he was in our area and wanted to come
by to see us, and of course,  we were
thrilled, but the house looked empty and
so uninviting, so we had to shake our tail
feathers and get moving,  so I kinda just
put whatever I could find here and there,
and figured if I didn't work, I could change
it later, but at least the
family room would be nice and cozy!

It really was such a joy to see him.
we met he and his wife at the time,
back when we were only married 2
years. It was like we just picked up
where we left off, it was such a fun
time catching up and remembering old
times and we all had such a great time,
so we are so glad he surprised us!
It was a wonderful blessing.......
and we are gonna all try to keep
in touch more often.  We have
talked with him over the years
but not real recently.

In my mind this was gonna be a short
posts with mainly pics,  so guess it is
time to quit typing and started down
or uploading pictures,  so I can go
start din din!!  lol

This was our Thanksgiving Table this year!

Found these wonderful pumpkins at Michael's
at the end of October for $2.40 a pc.
Just love them!!

This is the opposite side of the center
piece. You will see lots of things leftover
from the reception, this one with a
 a chocolate brown ribbon.

From the one end of the table,
Decided to use the chocolate brown
ribbon as napkin rings as well,
and added the lil pearl like stick ons.
Love those things!!  lol

This is how the pic came out with the flash!
Looks like we might need to call the Fire
dept. soon!  lol

From the same end of table just
on the opposite side.  I made this
table runner a few years back, no
sew just cut out and stripped the
threads to look like fringe.

From the opposite end of the table.
Since there were only 5 of us for dinner
this time,  I added the candles to the
end of the table.  Scott and Megan
came later for dessert,  as they
had dinner with her family.

From the opposite end too!

Done in photoshop colored pencil

An overall of the centerpiece

Shot from above!

I added some white carnations in the gold
mercury glass candleholders at all the ladies
places.
Also, like to add a different verse for each
of us to read as we eat dinner,  and  we
did a thankful list as well.  So I didn't
really miss thankful Thursday last week,
just didn't get to post it!!  lol

I love the way these 2 pics make the lil
bejeweld leaves shine,  I was so happy to
find them in the $1 rack at Michaels,  they
were the perfect finishing touch.

and love these colored pencil photos.
Would like to print an 8x 10 one and frame
it as a wall decoration for next year!

Hope you are enjoying the
Season,  can't believe tomorrow
is December 1st,  wow, that sure
got here fast!!

Thanks so much for dropping by
to check on me,  love hearing from
 you, and hope you ..........
enjoyed your visit.

Pictures from the Reception

This greeted the couple and the guests outside the front door

Welcome Sweet Friends,

I finally have gotten the reception pictures put together
so you can have a lil look - see!   Was very nice so
many of you were interested,  so hope you will enjoy it.

Of Course, what is a reception without the
bride and groom, so here they are!!
Wed 2 weeks at this point..................

If you are new here or missed the wedding
pictures and would like to see them,

Remember when Fall came, I just decided to make my living room
into an all white room all of a sudden, well, I discovered the reason.
Now,  I had no thoughts whatsoever, of having anything for the
reception in this room, but the Lord knew it would be the perfect
place for the guest book and card box.!

This was Scott and Megans cake top!
It is called "picture perfect".

(This was the photographers picture)

Becky from over at Junk to Joy came over to help the day
before and we put together this display on the top of my hope chest
then we took a white matelasse bedspread I wasn't using and
draped it over the sofa.  The whole room looked so weddingly!
(like my made new word...............lol.)

This was the main table inside the house. Where we parents,
grandmother and aunts, and Scott and Megan sat. This was the
photographers picture too,  but I had not put the rose petals on yet.
I  really should have done it earlier,  but sorta forgot!
I forgot a lot of things that day!!  lol

with rose petals added!!

Here is a nice pic of Dee and I,  you can see Megan and a lil of Jerry, and
Scott (but he had his head turned unfortunately). This will give you an idea
of how we had the food set up and what the plates looked like.

Believe me it was not easy finding tableware that looked elegant
for a Fall reception, cause everything was bright orange and
cornacopias and stuff like that.

If I could have figured a way to use regular plates I would have,
but just couldn't  figure out what we would do with the mess
afterwards, since I have an open kitchen and their was a
 dessert table in the kitchen.

Here we are enjoying the Celebration!!

Was so glad the photographer got a pic of this table,  because we
completely forgot about it.
In the original wedding plans,  Dee and Jerry were going
to have what they called a "Sweetheart" table, just for them.
So we decided to make one for them, and the picture above
and below are of that.

The champagne glasses were ours 41 years ago!
So thought that would be fun to have them use
our glasses.

I found those G coasters at Michael's in a lil pack of 6 for $1.00.
Thought they added a nice touch,  and they have all sorts of letters.
The candle cups are gold mercury glass and looks o pretty
especially when the candle are lit.  Notice the gold medallions
on the ribbon,  they have double hearts embossed on them,
and the pearls on the ribbon, all found in the wedding dept. at
Michaels.   The lil pearls were peel and press, so you just
stick them on.  Loved the elegant touch it gave.

As you can see, Dee decided to change into something
more comfy since all the family pics were done,
and here they are enjoying their dinner..............

and drinking sparkling cider out of our glasses.
That was fun for me, I have to say!!

Fortunately,  the photographer took this one.

Here is some recreated close ups below,  cause I wanted
some pics and forgot to take any with the rose petals
on the table.

The tablecloth is yellow but you get the idea.

Below are what the other tables,  that were on the porch
looked like, as well............................

These shots were all taken before I decided to embellish
them with the medallions, pearls and rose petals, they
looked pretty much same as the ones above,  just
a more compact centerpc. to go with size of table.
But looked so much better afterwards,  but no pics unfortunately,

The Photographer captured the prettiest part of this cake.
Remember I told you the cakes did not come out well.
This was not the one I planned on using as the wedding cake,
but Megan and I decided it was the better of the two................
looks pretty good here,

and here they are cutting the cake.............
the red piping on the cake looked terrible, think they must
have had a new decorator or something,  didn't realize it looked
like that till we got it home.  I knew the other one didn't look
like the picture, that is for sure, but thought, guess I can just
use this one. Have to say it was disappointing not to be able
to use the other one, because it had their initials on the top
made out of chocolate, with some other embellishments
and looked so modern,  at least in the picture, that is!!
 but oh well,  gotta expect
something to go wrong,  I guess!

The one in the picture was a yellow cake with straw-
berry filling and cream cheese frosting,  and the other
was called a Mocha latte cake.  They both were
absolutely delicious,  Thank goodness!
and at least they had a cake to cut!!  lol

I will leave you with some family photos.
Only included our families pictures as I don't want
to share  the pics of others without permission.

From left to right:  Scott, Megan, Dee, Jerry,
 Jimmy, Nellie  and Susan

With Rosie added in.

A candid of Me and Dee!

The photographer got a pic of Rosie in her dress clothes.
Now Dee didn't buy this outfit,  it came with Rosie when
she got her from a family she knew.............Rosie also had
other clothes, beds, collars and leashes,  she was......
and still is one pampered pouch,  we only pamper her
with love tho!!  lol

Thanks for your visit and thanks for enjoying
the reception with us, and thanks for your
patience with me in putting this post
together. Seems like it took forever!!  lol

I wish you all a Wonderful, Delightful
 and Grateful Thanksgiving Day!

May God Richly Bless You and Yours,

With Happily Every After Blessings,
Nellie
