Our Father's Day Table 2020

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you doing well......

The week has been good so far. but
have to say the headlines are more
than frustrating at times, and I am
sure you know what I mean.

Thought I would finally share
our Father's Day Table today
just for something different and
while I have the time.  lol

Since I was making Italian food
 I decided to go with an Italian
themed table.

I started off thinking this might work
but wasn't sure if I really liked it and
  if it really looked Italian.

Then I looked online to try and find
 some Italian style tables, but found
very few that were actually from
 Italy and the few I did find had red
 checked tablecloths,  so decided
since I had a gold checked one
that would look sort of guyish
and Tuscan at the same time.

 I had 3 of these bottles (they originally
 had Olive Garden Italian Dressing in
 them), and when I think of Olive Garden
Restaurant, I think of Olives, as they
have olive plants as decorations, so
thought if I could put some olive
branches in the bottles that would be
 cute, and the start of my centerpiece.
So actually found one olive branch
at Michaels.....and fortunately it was
enough.

So I stuck the olive branches in but
it just needed something else so I
thought about Pasta, so added macaroni
to each bottle and that was the missing
element..... Then added some glass
and mercury glass candles.  Later
you will see where I added some
colored stones to it as well.

Decided to use my Shabby Chic
 dinnerware cause thought the color
looked better but also could look
 a lil more antique/ornamental
that could be Italian looking.
Cause I actually saw some
Italian dishware that looked
similar but they were off white
not as cream colored as mine.

Added my reddish brown napkins
and my Wedding silverware which
 could possibly look Italian.
I missed it on the silverware tho,
I just looked for the fun of it, and
most of theirs is very simple and
plain or colored. I actually have
 a very plain pattern that I could
have used if I had known. Oh well
Will know for next time. lol

Used clear goblets to match the
bottles and candles.

 From the opposite end of the table.
The yellow flat dishes were for what
some people call "Italian butter" that
is herbs and olive oil for
 bread dipping.

I typically like to add candy to my place
settings,  but couldn't think of an Italian
candy, but did think about Biscotti,  so
put a Lemon Pistachio Biscotti at each
place.  They were very good, but were
a limited edition, so hubby wanted
more but they didn't have them!

I was gonna use the bread board on
the side for a round loaf of bread,
but decided it would probably make
 a crumbly mess, so decided to go
 with a bread basket instead.

This picture has an equalized affect.
You can see the stones I dotted in the
centerpiece in this and the next picture.
Had forgotten about them and
 remembered after I had taken the
pictures, so that's why just 2 pics.  lol
The same stones were in the clear
candleholders.

It was a simple and easy centerpiece,
just like our guys emotionally......
Definitely not mentally....lol

We also had a simple menu,

Lasagna

Olive Garden typed Salad
(with their dressing)

French Bread
with Italian Butter

Biscotti

Banana Pudding
(not very Italian but the
fav dessert at our house)

Next week,  I am gonna try and post
my Lasagna recipe, as I want to get
it in my archives anyway.  It a very
easy but yummy recipe.  Just made
another pan to take to a friend.

Scripture Sunday

Happy Sunday Sweet Friends,

Here is the verses for today!

 Blessed (Happy) is the one who

 trusts in the LORD, who does not

 look to the proud, to those who turn

aside to false gods.

 Many, LORD my God, are the wonders

 you have done, the things you planned

 for us. None can compare with you;

Psalm 40:4-5 NIV

Have a Blessed week!

Thankful Thursday July 9, 2020, tropical Summer vignettes from the past

For you, LORD,
 are the Most High over all the earth;
 you are exalted far above all gods.
Psalm 97:9 NIV

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope it has been mostly a good week
for you all. Know with all that is going
 on in our country, it is hard for it not to
disturb us to say the least, but it helps
me to know that God see all and knows
 all, and to sometimes just turn it off to
 give it a rest for a few days to protect
our sanity.  lol

It's been a good week here, as we
have been doing that some, and it
is always good when our time
includes family visits, and first
and foremost, prayer!
Prayers keep us focused on the
Lord and out of the ditch!

Thought I would show you some
nice summer vignettes, I actually
did this for a birthday table for my
 girl years ago, but got to playing
with it afterwards, and these were
the resulting pictures that I have
never posted.

So....on with the real reason for this
post......

#1
Thankful our Daughter and Son-in-love
got in safe and sound late Friday evening.

#2
Thankful that we had a nice relaxing
 couple of days and got to spend the
4th of July together.  It was just the
4 of us this year.  Enjoyed talking,
 munching, laughing and playing
 yatzee, and watching some drybar
comedy comedians, and watching
them play wii baseball.
A good and fun time!

#3
Thankful for Ghiradelli walnut
brown mix, made some, and they
 made amazingly yummy brownie
 sundae's. A great idea from my
daughter I have to say.

#4
Thankful that Dee and I worked on
a card for her Mother-in-loves 70th
 birthday together. It was a lot of fun.
  Her hubbies whole family is coming
 in on Tuesday and it will be a nice
birthday surprise for his Mom for a
 few days too.

#5
Thankful they will also get to
spend some time with our Son
and his family on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday at a
Resort in central Florida too.

#6 and 7
Thankful that Dee put 5 items for
 sale on facebook marketplace for
 me, and 2 sold right away. She
does this all the time, and she is
a smart cookie, they pay her on-
line and she just leaves their pur-
chase outdoor on her porch, so
no strain, no pain....lol
I had purchased a beautiful
magnolia wreath in the Spring
 to put over my fireplace mantle
but it didn't work out, and before
I could take it back they shut every-
thing down due to the Virus, so
 wasn't sure I was gonna be able to
 take it back now, so decided to see
 if she could sell it on market place.
 Thankful I was able to recoup
 all the money I spent for it.....
so was happy about that.

#8
 Thankful for the new discovery
of the Wetbar comedians. We've
watched about 6 of them over the
last week.  They were all very
funny and had very clean comedy.
Love that!  My rib muscles are
actually sore from laughing so
hard!!  lol  So if you need a good
 laugh, we highly recommend
them.  If you have facebook,
you can find them all the way
at the top of your page, right
in the middle where it says
watch.  Click on that icon and
one should come up.

#9 and 10
Thankful for a wonderful batch
of my neighbors vegetable soup.
She sent her hubby over with it
on Tuesday evening.  Delish as
always.
Even more Thankful for these
 sweet and thoughtful neighbors.

#11
Thankful for a video series that one
 of our long time friends sent us a
link to.....they are about bible prop-
hecy being fulfilled right before our
 eyes.  We have been reading and
studying the bible for about 40 yrs.
now, and we saw very little to be in
 disagreement with on the things he
 was showing and saying.  We had
 never heard of him before but he
does an amazing job of explaining
things, hubby and I both thought
 everyone should see this....
So Just in case you might be
interested here is a link.
Click Here
or type in this link below yourself
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdfmnrcvQD7C__-K8XmBiq519qG1TnBWJ

Note: We started with the June 28th one.....
they are all good, but we would recommend
 starting with this one.

#12
Thankful that we met our
Daughter and Son-in-love
today and got our furry
Grandson dog Bentley,  he
is staying with us a few days
while the rest of the family
vacations. We welcome the
change of doing something
different.  lol   So far so good!
It's been 8 hrs. now, and he's
still doing fine.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, Thanks for coming by
that's all for Cozy Place this week.
Have a lovely Friday and weekend
and.....
Keep your light shining brightly!
Love, Hugs, and
 Early July Blessings,
Nellie
Good Sunday Morning
Sweet Friends,
 Blessed is the nation
 whose God is the LORD
Psalm 33:12
Belated Happy Independence
Day to you all......
Thankful Thursday July 2, 2020, 4th of July table from the past
Praise the Lord,
How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise him.
Psalm 147: 1-2   NIV
Greetings Sweet Friends,
Hope this finds you doing well,
and looking forward to this weekend
of Independence Day celebration.
It might only be at your home but
that's okay we can still celebrate!!
It has been a good and sort of
busy week here as we are pre-
paring for our Daughter, Son-
in-love and furry Grandson
dogs visit. We of course, are
really looking forward to it,
and also celebrating the 4th
with them, as well.
 Thought I would in-
clude a 4th of July table from
 the past table in case someone
 might be still in need of ideas.
 I typically always use paper
goods mixed with glasses and
silverware for this holiday as
 they are just more festive and
easy for clean up as well....and
just shop the house for red,
 white and blue items that work
to make a vignette.  I always
keep flags and these mylar
 stars on hand as they make
it easier to put together a
centerpiece as well.
So on with my Thankfuls....
#1
Thankful that we got started on a book
hubby got for his birthday from Moi.....
It has long chapters and forward and
 introduction but is quite interesting.
 The United States of Socialism by
Dinesh D'Souza.  We are not thru the
first chapter yet.....
#2
Thankful that our Son and family returned
 safely from their Vacation last week, and
from the pics I saw on facebook looks
 like they had a great time, and once I
talked to them....they did really enjoy it.
#3
Thankful for our National Guard and
that they have put new laws into affect
about destroying our historical statues,
and hopefully enforcing the ones al-
ready on the books.
#4
Thankful that we are hearing more pos-
itive things from a number of different
Doctors about the Covid situation. Which
 is very good and very interesting, since we
 don't know what to believe these days.
#5
Thankful for "Caramel Frappe's" from
MacDonalds.  They are much less expensive
than Starbucks and more delicious....at least
hubby and I think so......lol
#6
Thankful for a new series we found
on Netflix called "Vindication".
Have watched 2 episodes and they
are quite good.
#7
Thankful that I finally got around to
doing a little bathroom refresh in
our guest bathroom. Have been
wanting to do it, just haven't been
in the mood....nothing like having
company/or family coming  to get
 me moving!!  lol
#8
Thankful and relieved that a dear friend
 of ours of 40 yrs. who had surgery on
Tues. afternoon (and is an at risk patient)
came through the surgery fine and is
 doing well.  Praise the Lord
#9
Thankful he was doing so well he
got out of the hospital before noon
today. (Thursday)
#10
Thankful this has been wildlife week
at our house, we have seen our lil wild
brown bunny a number of times, a
black snake, a hawk attacking something
 to eat (we think a lizard) , and a racoon
 eating berries in our backyard and a flock
 of Ibis and Sandhill Cranes in the front
 yard. So it has been an active week and
 We just get a real kick out of  seeing
all the wildlife.....
#11
Thankful that our Son came and
sprayed our bushes today with
something that will cause them
not to grow so much and to pro-
duce more flowers or leaves.
He is in the Ag business and
needs to do some experimental
trials, so we said hey, we would
like to try it. So excited to see
how much bush trimming it
 saves us especially because
of the Florida heat.
#12
Thankful that I finally found
some pink carnations for my
coffee table.  The other mini
ones I had finally died (but they
 lasted over 3 weeks) which was
awesome, so wanted some more
pink flowers but was hard to
find them,  took going to 3
grocery stores, and they had
one small bouquet of the larger
pink carnations,  but they are a
 lil darker, loved the baby pink,
but these will work and look
pretty once they all open up,
so was happy to finally find
this simple pleasure and it
got us out of the house.  lol
Well, that's it for Cozy Place
 this week.
 Thanks for stopping by and....
Independence Day Blessings,
