Birthday Table for Megan

Hello Sweet Friends,

So did you get a lil rested up yesterday?
Hope so, cause if you had a lot going
on bet you needed it.

I was so happy not to have anything I
actually had to do yesterday, even tho,
I got up early. I did get my Thankful
Thursday blog post finished, and up-
loaded some pics for 2 other upcoming
posts, because they are still from Fall,
and trying to get them in before
December, lol.  but that was fun work.
and later in the day hubby and I put up
the Christmas tree,  but haven't decorated
it yet, as I haven't brought out the Christ-
mas decorations yet, cause don't want to
tear the house all up until after Dee goes
home on Monday, and it will give me
something to look forward to..................
after she goes..........so glad she will be
back today and get to stay until Monday.
So we will get a lil one on one time with
her hopefully.

We watched our first Christmas movie
last night and hubby was sweet and
ran out and got us some eggnog....yum!
That is a family tradition for us when
we start our Christmas decorating,
that and Christmas music........

Am showing you another Birthday
table today, but it could just be a Fall
table, as well.  Did this table for my
daughter-in-love.

Her sign hanging above the table

Since we celebrated her birthday the
night before Thanksgiving, and we are
not into a lot of stress,  I used paper
goods again.  I had these plates and
leaf napkins leftover from Dee and
Jerry's wedding reception 4 yrs. ago,
and the pumpkin napkins leftover
from last Fall, so thought they made
a nice combo.

Used this silverware because it matches the
flowers on the napkins. and the white table-
cloth to give it a bit of elegance, and so it
didn't seem quite so Fallish.

moved our bench to the opposite side of
the table since we are the only ones who
get to sit on it, and also to make more
room for another chair since their are
7 adults this time rather than 5.

This is from the other end of the table

Two Overviews

This tray with the white pumpkins did
reside on my coffee table, so I just
changed it up just a little to use as the
 centerpiece on her table.

Seems like all my tables this year have had
pumpkins, leaves and candle light.

Like I have said before I like to use real
silverware and glasses, rather than plastic,
as it looks a bit nicer, and you never have to
worry about breakage or leaks like you do
with plastic ware and plastic cups.

These are Dixie living ware plates we got
at Sam's over 4 yrs. ago and they are very
sturdy, and  you will probably see them
again sometime as I still have a ton of
them leftover.

A cocktail size napkins tucks
perfectly into the glasses.  Love
these glasses they were a gift
from Dee and Jerry for Christmas
some years back, when I got my
shabby chic dishes.  They are a
beautiful compliment to them.

Took out an oak candlestick and
replaced it with the cloth pumpkin
and then added the cream ceramic
pear on top.  A find some years
back from Target.

Clear candle holders with an assortment
of  beans.   Love the look............

The tray already had gold mercury glass
candle cups that were purchased for
Dee and Jerry's reception as well. I think
they look so elegant and I use them well
every Fall and sometimes at Christmas
or New Years.

With the lights out

Always blessed by your visits,
and hope you will take the time
to say hello.

Have a Great Weekend
and
Keep your light shining brightly,

Love, Hugs, and
the last of November Blessings,
Nellie

Thankful Thursday November 26, 2015, Fall in Asheville part 2

Came across this gorgeous and free Printable
below from Lucy over at Craftberry Bush this
morning so needed a verse for my Thankful
Post so decided to use this lovely pic below.
Thanks Lucy!

for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Morning Sweet Friends,

Hope you all had a really wonderful
Thanksgiving Day...........with
 Thankful Hearts, Great Fellowship
with Family/and or Friends, Yummy
Food and Goodies, with Lots of Love
poured on top of it all!

Have to say we really had a wonderful day,
that included all of that...........
It lasted all day, from 9:00 A.M. - 8: P.M.
Started off with breakfast/brunch at Scott
and Megan's, and spent the morning and
part of the afternoon there, and the weather
was really glorious, so we got to sit out on
the porch some and visit and enjoy their
beautiful breezy back yard, then we came
back to our house to start getting ready
for dinner,  minus Scott, Megan and lil
darling as they, of course, needed to
spend time with her family as well.
Had a nice dinner around 5:00, and
spent some more time yakking and then
sent Dee and Jerry on their way to see
his family. They are celebrating Thanks-
giving today, so that their whole family
can be together............

I am thankful

#1
for a make ahead gravy recipe I found
about 10 years ago.  The most stressful part
of making Thanksgiving dinner to me, used to
be doing the gravy once the Turkey was out of
the oven, and since I don't make gravy often
I am not the best gravy maker, but thanks to
this great tasting recipe I can make the gravy
ahead and freeze it, then just thaw it in the
fridge and warm it up on Thanksgiving Day.
 Love it!!!
Delicious and No Stress for Me!
Whoo Hoo!!

Love the header pic and this one, that I caught in the late afternoon
as the sun was going down.  So Pretty I think!

#2
for take out Mexican food from Chili's
while I am doing all the prep for
 Thanksgiving company and dinner.

See the green tree right behind the first pink tree........

#3
for my sweet understanding hubby who has
no problem with getting take out or eating
sandwiches at times like this.
He is just so easy and helpful...............
such a blessing!

After we were there a week this is what
it looked like..............such a quick and
amazing transformation,  and it was almost
bare by the time we left............lol

#4
that the house is all spic and spam
and ready for Dee and Jerry, and
the rest of the family.  Don't you
just love it when you have just
cleaned your house and it looks
so great!  I sure do!!

See how sparse the trees are now,  that happened
by our 2nd week there.  Now you can see the
houses across the street more...........lol

#5
that the gravy and stuffing is all made.
Have to say that the stuffing and gravy
are two of my fav parts of
Thanksgiving dinner.

#6
that Dee and Jerry arrived safe and sound,
a few hours later than they were suppose
to, but just happy they made!

#7
for the fun evening we had on Wed. nite
after Dee and Jerry arrived, celebrating
Megans Birthday.  We were a little early
on her birthday this year, but her twin
brother is here for her actual birthday
on Sunday, and of course, she would
like to spend it with him, as she doesn't
get that opportunity often, so we figured
we would surprise her and do it while
the whole family was together on
Wednesday.  Due to Thanksgiving
and so much going on at once we
just got some great Take out from
an Italian Restaurant, and think we
all really enjoyed it.

These yellow trees look amazing when they are in full leaf.,
As you can see they have already lost a lot of leaves.

#8
for a really fun and relaxing Thanksgiving.
Scott and Megan did an awesome job on
the brunch, and it was so nice that the whole
family could be together again this year.
We didn't really expect that to happen,
so it was a extra special blessing...............

Now you can see this lil garden area at the top of their
street now that the trees are all bare.

#9
that all my food came out well, cause we
changed up a few things this year, we made
a fried Turkey Breast hubby found at Sam's
and it was already cooked and we only had
to warm it, and they all liked that.  Then I
changed up my brocoli casserole, and instead
of using cream of mushroom soup, I used
cheesy brocoli soup, as Jerry does not like
mushroom soup, and neither do I really, and
it was a great change we all liked it better,
then I used scallions in my 24 hr. salad, since
the last few times I have made it the onions
have been so strong it sort of permeated the
salad,  so we liked that change too............
so it was such an enjoyable dinner, and we
can't wait to do it over again as leftovers! lol

Looking more like Winter now.............

#10
that Dee will be back on Saturday some-
time and will get to stay until Monday......
Unfortunately, Jerry has to be back for
work before then, so he is graciously kind
to share her with us for a few more days.

even with all the bare trees there are still some full of Fall
leaves...................

#11
for my family, my friends in everyday life
and online, my home and yard, that my
hubby loves his job, for all the trips we
have gotten to take to Asheville over the
last few years, for our church home and
church family, and for so many wonder-
ful gifts that Lord has blessed us with
that as my Dad used to say,  that you
can' tack a dollar bill too!  and they are
many and varied,  even in trials,  God is
good...........which leads me to my next
and last Thankful..........

These  pic and the one below I took for
the Holly Trees,  thought they were just
so pretty!  would love to have one of these.

#12
First and Foremost, and maybe last but certainly
no where near least on my list is for Jesus,  and
that he was willing to go to the cross to save me
and everyone from our sin debt that we are all
born with..............and to bring us into newness
of life and to give us the great gifts of His
spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness,
Goodness, Gentleness and Self Control.
He never leaves us or forsakes us, and is
always there for us, He is the best friend
we could ever have!

These 2 pictures (the one above and below)
I took because they  reminded me so much
of Germany when we lived there, 40+ years
ago. Dismal overcast skies and misting rain
were a norm, and in our area houses were
built on hills and mountains like this, and
even the houses look the same from the
distance, and of course, the bare trees in
winter....lol
These were taken for old times sake!  lol

Thought this one below looks so funny  cause you
see all these bare trees and then here is the yellow
one just full of leaves.

Well, there you have it our ............
Thanksgiving Edition!  lol

Wonderful that you could stop by for a visit.

Can you believe next Tuesday is

Fall Birthday Table for our son, Part 1

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,

Hope your Thanksgiving Preparations
are well underway at your house.

They are still underway over here!
Today will be cleaning, setting the
table, and tonight making the stuffing
mix.  At least that is my plan, Lord
willing!!  I at least feel like I might
just make it now.........since I have
gotten caught up almost.  Course, it
is amazing the last minute things that
can crop up.  lol  Am sure praying
there want be many of those.  lol

Todays pictures are from weekend
before last,  when we finally got to
celebrate my son's birthday.  Since
I was not feeling too well, some paper
goods I had bought back in October at
the Christmas Tree store came to mind,
so thought they would be good for a guy
table and also made for easier clean up.
I like to share these once in awhile, just
to show that you can have a pretty table
even using paper goods.
The cost was only $3.00 for plates and
napkins, and hopefully that should be
affordable to most everyone, and most
importantly we all had a great time.

First of all I made a cake stand by using a
juice glass that went with my other brown
drinking glasses, then tucked a few small
napkins that matched the other paper goods
into the glass and turned it upside down,
then added the gold salad plate on top,
and added some brown shredded paper
(it comes in bags in the gift wrap area)
to sort of make a nest, then added the
pretty lil rusty orange pumpkin.

A look down the table.... Stuck an extra
napkin inside each glass just cause
 I liked how it looked.

 with paint daubs affect

It is hard to see, but there is a row of pumpkins
on the plates toward the top.

With Difference clouds affect
Accidentally found this new affect
and thought it interesting!!  lol

Leaves compliments of Asheville again!  lol
Since the leaves also compliment the plates.

 With Posterized Affect

Since I already had these chocolate Brown
ribbons cut from another table I did a few
years back, where I tied the napkins with
them, decided to use them to tie the
silverware together this time.

With Cutout Affect

Even tho I use paper goods I tend to
always use regular silverware and
glasses, just cause I think it looks
 a bit more classy................and
you don't have to worrry about
anything breaking or leaking!

This was at the other end of the table
since no one was sitting there, just
added a few decorative pieces.

An overview..........I also used some pretty
leaf candle cups and the lil leaf medallions,
in the centerpiece. I will tell you about them
in Part 2, (cause I had lots of pics, but also
have used lots of affects for fun too)
.......which will be coming up soon.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thanks so much for coming by to visit
and ................

I want to take this opportunity to say,
"that I hope you have a wonderful time
with Family and/or Friends around the
 table counting your blessings.
I count each of you, who follow/read
my blog, and also the bloggers of the
ones I read, as a friend and blessing.
Each of you have enriched my life in
so many different ways.........and I
thank the Lord for each of you!"

So keep your light shining brightly!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
