Thankful Thursday, August 6, 2026, an inexpensive way to add royal blue to my rooms #2

 

This is what the Lord says,

he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—  the Lord Almighty is his name:

Morning Sweet Friends.

Hope you week has been all you hope it would be.........if not, take heart what a difference a day can make. It's been a good week here just a bit slower physically that usual, but that's okay, we aren't in a race with anyone.  lol

Pictures today are a follow up from last weeks post. I have things that are royal blue in my home especially in my kitchen but wanted to include it in my family and dining room for a nice change.  So I use the plates I showed you last week, and I rounded up everything

in my stash that was royal blue and placed

 a lil here and a lil there, and it accomplished the new summer look I wanted without any extra $$$  being spent, accept for the plates 

I told you about last week.   Love that!

So on with my Thankfuls...................

#1 and 2

Thankful that we got to see our Daughter

and Son-in-love for a day and a half

as they were on their way home from

the Florida Keys.  

Thankful they had a really nice time

and for a safe and uneventful trip

down the keys.

Thankful that we got to celebrate her

birthday early since we won't get to

see her on her birthday.

I redid it.....

Thankful that they were willing to help

our Son on Saturday. Especially our

Son-in-love, he helped take out some

heavy sliding glass doors and also

take out 2 walls, so our Son, can have

 an open living area. Hubby worked on

taking out tile, and got that finished

finally, and our Daughter and I painted

 lil darlings bedroom, last time we just

 painted it with primer, so completed it

with beige walls, and white baseboards,

and hubby helped us finish off along

the ceiling.  So much was accomplished,

he is pretty much ready now for the

floor installation which will start

this week.  So we are all excited to

see it happen, and it took a lot of

pressure off our Son I am sure.

Thankful that the Lord has made it

possible for me to help down there,

with my back issues, which are healing

more all the time, altho, I do get really

 tired for several days afterwards but

even tho, it's a thrill for me to be able

 to help, as in the beginning I didn't

 think I would be able to do much.

Thankful that we are retired and can

sleep in or take a nap, if need be.

  Today was a need be day.........lol

Thankful for the sweetest most precious

 text message to hubby and I, from our

 Daughter last night.

Thankful for the precious treasures that

our Son, Daughter, Son-in-love and

 Granddaughter are to us. They are

all such a blessing.

It's the coaster with the royal blue.

Thankful for this precious story I saw

on facebook. It reminds me of the scripture

in Isaiah 11:6 where it says a child 

shall lead them, and this lil guy is definitely

a leader.........Awesome.

Thankful that when my daughter came

home from work to find a strange lady

 in her 30's or 40's coming out of her

 backyard looking like she had no pants 

on, carrying a shopping bag and that the

 woman acted like she was trying to figure 

out what the name of her street was, which 

made no sense at all, and she said she

 didn't want to bother them.  Thankful

there was  no altercation of any kind, 

 she just walked on through and up the

 street. PTL, but it did leave them 

wondering, what is going on here, and

 of course, would give anyone a bit of 

angst. She didn't know if the woman

was on drugs or what.

Thankful for a cozy bed with freshly

washed sheets, to sleep in every night.

Thankful I found one of my favorite

earrings that I thought I had lost.

A cute Joke............

 

Welcome to August

Sweet Friends,

I know, I know I am a few days late, 

but saw this cute August sign and just 

couldn't resist.  lol

and

also had happened on this cute joke on 

facebook, I wanted to share with you.

Anyway it said it was told by President Reagan, and at my age I thought it was hilarious and getting closer to the truth than I want to admit............so know some of you will relate to it as well.

So here goes:

There was an elderly couple, and the wife said late one night, I am just so hungry for ice cream, so her hubby said well, I will go and get you some, and she excitedly said, you will, and he said what do you want? and she said vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce? and he said sure, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, and she said honey, maybe you should write it down in case you might forget,  Nah, I am not gonna forget, then she said Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and whipped cream? and he said sure, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and whipped cream, and again she said honey, are you sure you shouldn't write it down cause you might just forget, and he said No, I won't forget... It's vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, and whipped cream, and again she said I really do think you should write it down....... and can I also have a cherry on top?and he said sure, Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, whipped cream with a cherry on top, and again she said won't you please write it down so you don't forget, and again he repeated I know what to get... Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, whipped cream with a cherry on top, So off to the store he goes, as she is waiting she finally decides to get in bed, so he finally comes back and  hand her a bag, and she takes out a sandwich, and takes a bite of it and says

 "you forgot the mustard."

Well, hope that at least put a smile

on your face today or that you got

a chuckle or two out of it.

Thankful Thursday July 30, 2026, and inexpensive way to add a new color to my family and dining area

           Hello and Happy Friday Sweet Friends,

                         How are you today??

                 Hope you are doing really well.  

Been a good week here, just did some catching up

on tiredness from Sat. - I do a lot then have to rest

up for a day or two.......but I am in good spirits, and

enjoying life.....and making progress every day.

                                  

      Pictures today are based on my #1 Thankful

 for this week.  My way to bring a bit of a

New Summer look with a color I have 

really been wanting to employ for awhile

now..........and it was a lovely surprise idea

totally unexpected.  Also, pics of flowers

hubby got me last week.  Have to say

it was hard to get good pictures of the

china hutches without getting myself

in the pictures.  LOL

Now on with my Thankfuls......

Thankful that I was able to get my china hutches

cleaned and redone.  They look so nice...and I had

fun with it.  Last month when I had the dental

appt. that didn't happen, we had gone to TJ Maxx

and I happened on these disposable plastic plates

and salad plates that were white and royal blue, 

and there was 25 of each of them, which you 

couldn't buy that amount of paper goods for that 

price. It was only $15.00, but I struggled with if

 I should get them or not cause I havent been

 doing too many tables lately, but because I have

 been really loving this color for well over a year

now and they were so pretty, I just couldn't pass

 them up, and thought I will use them eventually

 for something. Once I got them home and took

the out of the package, you would not in any

way think they were plastic unless you picked

one up.  They truly looked like ceramic plates.

So I stuck a few on the mantle and loved

them, and no one would be the wiser, if I had

not told you....So you are seeing the results,

what do you think??  I love it,  was a was

an inexpensive way to bring that royal blue

 in to my home without buying a bunch 

of new things....

Thankful for the creative ideas that the Lord

gives to us, that many times we think come

from us, but they really don't....lol

I realize that many times when I look back

on cards I have written and think I can't 

believe I wrote that......and in those moments

I realize the Lord wrote that, using my mind

to think the words and my hands typing it,

 and really, as I am writing this I realize it

is done just the same way he used his disciples 

to write the Bible.  How cool is that!!

The Lord never ceases to amaze me....

Thankful that we got more work done

at Susans. Those floor are really giving

he and hubby a difficult time. they did 

completely clear one area, and make a lil 

progress in 2 other areas. unfortunately,

that floor scraper only worked in that

one area,  but we are thankful that one

area is done, but he has 5 more to go,

and it has to be done with a scrapper

with a long handle.....hand scrapping

it...so hard work. If you feel so led

please pray for more progress, as time

 is closing in for the guys to put in

 the new floors.

Thankful to have a fun time with lil darling,

working down there too. as we did painting.

She and I painted her room, baseboards

and trim, so it looks really nice and fresh.

She did a great job for her first time

painting and she loved doing it too.  We

also painted part of the hallway. So we

are all making progress.

Thankful that the Lord has been with me

and allowed me to be able to help as much

as I have, since I still have to be careful

with my back.  I have to take at easy for

a few days after tho,  but at least I am

able to do some helpful things.  When we

were painting lil darling had to do most

of the lower areas to keep me from having

to bend over too much.  She is so sweet

and helpful.............a treasure for sure.

Thankful to know someone we loved that

passed away this week, is safe in the

arms of Jesus. He was a dearly loved

man, and he was the Dad of our lunch

buddies, he just recently turned 104 yrs.

old, he was a WW2 Veteran and a Pastor.

Simply a delightful and loving man who

loved Jesus and lived like it.....He will

be sorely missed for sure. We are sad

but so glad we know where he is.......

Thankful for pictures from Key West

where I lived for years in the Summer

and my last year of High School, but 

left there a year after we were married.

My parents were divorced so I spent the

school year with my Mom and the Summers

with my Dad and his parents for most of 

my life.

Thankful that our Daughter and Son-in-love

were so sweet to look up places like my 

Grandparents house, which looks very

different now, and the Diner/restaurant

that my Grandparents and Dad owned

for over 40 yrs. - It is a Key West land

mark, and the neon sign is still there saying

"Shorty's", it was named after my Grand-

father. They also looked up the 2 story

old Conch home we lived in most of my

years there, it looks the same as far as

the outside, very well kept and beautiful

as always, but the trees are giant now,

and think they added some other trees

and shrubs as well, and they are huge

too.  It was lovely and I know they

completely redid the inside years ago,

would love to see it, but they got so many

nice pictures for me, so I have been having

lovely flash backs, they also looked up too,

where hubby and I spent our 1st year of 

marriage.  We so appreciate their doing

that,  it was def a trip down memory lane

 for me.

Thankful that wrapping some gifts, led to 

me cleaning up my wrapping storage area. 

 Got rid of some things and it just looks

 so much nicer and neater now.  Yay!!

Another place decluttered.

Thankful for a good dental visit and

a good report on everything. Love

my lady Dentist, and her all lady

staff,  they are all so sweet, helpful

and friendly.

Thankful we got to go out to dinner

at Outback Steakhouse, as it has been

over a month since we have been out,

So it was really nice to get out and it

was delicious. Such a treat!!

Thankful my friend with the esophagus 

problem is out of the hospital as of  Wed.

She took a fall on Sat nite and broke 3 ribs

 and had some blood clots as well.  She is

on blood thinners and pain meds, and is

in good spirits and They are happy to

 be home, and she was doing so well

before this...........feel so badly for her.

Hoping this is her last trip to the hospital!!

Scripture Sunday

 

Sweet Friends,

Sometimes in life that may not look true to us, 

 but that doesn't mean it isn't true! 

 We do not have the mind of God. 

 Someone we heard a long time ago, named

 Dr. Bill Gilham said. "we see life like a parade

going by, one event after the other,

 but God sees the helicopter view, our life

 from beginning to end." 

 God is all knowing, He knows what is around

each corner and what every single day holds.

 That thought has kept me afloat so many

times when life is hard, challenging and

just when I do not understand in life,

In fact, I am in one of those seasons

right now, and I am at peace with it,

due to this teaching and knowing that

 I shared above.

I am a day late, but not a dollar short!!  lol

Hope this finds you well and still enjoying

your Summer. We had a good week with

some fun surprises, I will tell you about.

have read my blog long you know I love

things that are whimsical, so think you

will enjoy them as well.

Now on with my Thankfuls.....

Thankful that hubby took our car into the dealership

where we originally bought our van years ago to have

it's normal servicing, and they did a great job, and

when he got the bill it was only $14.00  and he  of course, thought it was a mistake, so asked them

 about it and they said no, it's correct,  we just

 wanted to reward our long time customers. 

 What a lovely surprise and what a smart thing 

to do......definitely something that would have

 happened many years ago.

So what a lovely surprise!!

Thankful to live in our neighborhood, 

 it is so peaceful and quiet and we have 

good neighbors as well.  Such a blessing!

Thankful we got more work done down at

 Susan's. We all made lot of progress today, 

and they finished getting the old laminate

 floors taken up, next he has to get a floor 

stripping machine, as we all forgot that

 underneath the old laminate floors,

 (which had to be taken up) were the original

 floors in some places, that were like vinyl

or linoleum and they don't come up easy 

as he has discovered.

Thankful that my guys are such hard workers.

They amaze me at times.....Fun seeing them

work together too.

Thankful that I had made cuban Ropa Veija,

so all I had to do was make the rice and

season the beans when we got home, an

it was a delicous meal, if I do say so

myself............lol

Thankful that our church does live streaming

 so I can still feel a part of the church even

 tho, I am at home. I do whatever they are 

doing along with them. Singing, praying,

listening or even taking communion.

Course, I would rather be doing it there,

but that day will come, but for now it

is such a blessing.

Thankful that the rest of the Insurance bills

 for the rehab center, finally came.  So they 

are paid in full.............so thankful for that,

and that it closes another door for this

 situation.  It is a long draw out thing,

and we are not done yet, but thankful

we are getting there one step at a time.

Thankful that my sweet hubby surprised

me with flowers on Sunday. I love fresh

flowers....they were all white cause he

didn't think they had any other pretty colors

 that would go with my color scheme right

 now, and these were pretty  carnations and

 spider Mums. He knows his wife well.

Thankful for people who share their thoughts,

about things they have learned or tips and

tricks that are helpful, or spiritual incites,

or things they made or know how to to do,

 with me. It is such a good thing, as I have

 learned so much from others like that.

I have known some folks who are offended

by that for some reason, beats me as to why,

it is sort of like shooting yourself in the 

foot, when you choose not to hear others.

Cause it can save you a lot of problems,

hard work and heartache. I truly don't

think you have to learn everything 

the hard way!!

Thankful our Daughter made it here safe and

sound and that we got to have our Daughter 

with us for a few days.  Time just goes by 

way too fast, but it is always a delight

and a blessing to have her here.

Thankful that we also got some time with

lil darling and our Son, as they came over

and spent time with Dee, as well. 

We have seen our Son a lot, but have not

 seen lil darling in weeks, as she has

 definitely been enjoying her Summer

 with friends and family.

Thankful for the Hope of Heaven!! Because

we know Jesus, and we know that all that is

 wrong with this world will be righted when

 we go to Heaven.... not that I am in a hurry. lol
