Thankful Thursday - January 29, 2015 and Valentines Mantle

Praise the LORD.
Give thanks to the LORD,
 for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Psalm 106:1

Morning Sweet Friends,
Well at least it was morning
when I started......

Now, don't die from Shock .....
since I am actually getting this posted
on Thursday for a change!  lol

So how are ya??
Staying warm and Cozy??
Hope so..............Know many of you
might have lots of snow.....and sure
hope you have power and heat.

Decided to show you my Valentines
Mantle today.  Didn't think I was
gonna do Valentine's decorating this
year,  as I was just gonna go with a
Winter theme and when I got up the
morning I was starting my redo after
Christmas I happened by someones
blog who was putting lil Valentines
touches around their house, so all of
a sudden decided yea, think I will do
that!!  lol Amazing how our moods
change......but I did get the best of
both worlds, as I did the family and
dining room with the Valentines
day theme and the living room in
a Winter theme........lol
The header pic I only used pink
hearts, but decided to add some
white ones too, as you will see...
It's partly traditional and partly
whimsical..............
Also, it is very hard to get good
pics due to the lighting in this
 room and all the reflections.

Anywho...........

last but certainly, not least is my
Thankful list, and I am gonna get
right on with it, or I might be late
again.............lol

I am thankful

#1
that my house is back in order
and hubby and I are enjoying the
 new look.

#2
that we had a great time with
Scott, Megan and the baby
on Sunday.

#3
that my order from Walmart
with the items I got to use for
card making arrived, and think
I will like the new products,
with a lil practice.

#4
that my new Better Homes and
Garden magazine came today.
I had renewed my subscription
but kept getting things from them
asking me to renew, so was
beginning to wonder!!  lol

#5
that we are having weather in
the 60's again,  and loving it.

#6
for a really good movie we
watched, that is based on a
true story.....called Dolphin
Tale.  Very enjoyable, and
family friendly.

#7
that we live in America, even

with all her problems, I don't
know of any place else I would
want to live, and just happened
on this verse this morning.

Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord;
happy are the people he has chosen
 for his own!
Psalm 33:12 (Good News Translation)

Our nation seems to be moving
away from God as our Lord,
and I am thankful that there are still
 plenty of folks
 who want and support that.

with posterized affect

#8
that our lil darling wound up being
good all day, other than first thing
in the morning she was a lil testy,
but then was fine till I changed her
last diaper before Mommy came,
it was like wrestling a bear, mostly
because she took a very early nap
and was exhausted.
Megan said when she brought her
that she had been a handful since
Sunday, and they are thinking she
might have finally hit the terrible
 twos....we are all hoping not....lol
but do know it is a possibility since
she will be two in a lil over a month.

#9
for heat to take the chill off the
house when we have these cold
 snaps, and warm jammies.

#10
that I also have a home and a nice
comfy bed to sleep in, cause many
times I think about those that are
homeless and how awful that has
to be.........which also makes us
have the desire to give to the
 Rescue mission.

#11
That Jerry, my SIL, got to and
from his trip to a work seminar
safely,  and that my son got to
a work show safely.  Both were
out of state...one flying,
one driving.

#12
for the truth I shared about attitude
on Monday's post....as I got tested
on it today.

 You see, my daughter
was trying to come here to visit
on Feb. 6th from Asheville, N.C.
and she found out today that she
can't get off from work that day,
so now she isn't coming, and we
are both really bummed about it.
Was very sad and had a lil melt
down and was frustrated,  and
laid down for awhile and talked
to the Lord about it,  and realized
that I  need to be thankful that
she only lives in Asheville, not
half way around the world, and
that we will get to see each other
in March, Lord willing, and that
we get to either talk via phone
or email most days. Course, we
all know face to face is better,
especially if your love language
is quality time, which mine is,
but praying and getting that
perspective has helped and
 I am feeling joyful again.
So.....it just reminded me again
that God's ways really do work.
If you would like to read the
post just click here.

Well, hope you enjoyed your visit
today, and hope you come again
soon.

Monday Manna - How's your attitude?

Morning Sweet Friends,

Hope you had a good weekend......

Ours was good.....worked on redecorating
family, dining, and living room, still have
a lil more to do,  but just about there,  so
very happy about that.  Also, had a fun
get together with Scott, Megan and the
baby, a pizza and salad night, good to
seem them and catch up a bit,  as Scott
has been traveling a lot this month.

Went by a blog in the early hours of the
morning that got me thinking.  The blog
is Art and Sand by a lovely lady named
Carol,  and her post was on attitude.
Click here if you would like to see it.

What she said was so true and got me
to thinking about how attitude really is
everything..........

I remembered something I heard from
a Pastor named T D Jakes, and this is
not verbatim of course,  but the gist of
what I got out of it............and it really
helps me, to remember what
he said............

He calls it the 80/20 rule..........
Just know that 80% of anything in your
life is gonna be good and 20% is gonna
be bad or what we perceive as bad or
not so good. Just know it and expect
it, then it want take you by surprise.

For Instance,  My hubby absolutely loves
his job as a design engineer, but he really
dislikes doing documentation, but he has
to do both... as part of his job.

or for instance, I absolutely love a clean
house,  but I don't always enjoy the pro-
cess of cleaning especially bathrooms,
but...... it is part of the process.

or maybe you absolutely love your
spouse, child or whomever and they
have great qualities, but you don't love
their messy ways, but you have to.....
 live with them.

Point is........if we concentrate on just
the 20% rather than on the 80%,
we are gonna get in trouble.
We have literally seen marriages break
up that had so much going for them,
all because they got focused on that 20%,
and forgot all about the 80% that was good
or even great.......only to remarry and get
the 20% good and 80% bad......not a very
good exchange I might add.........but it
happens all the time.

Sometimes it is a very good practice to
make a list of that persons good qualities
vs the bad qualities, as it will helps us to
quickly see that their good qualities far
outweigh the bad, and will quickly give
us an attitude adjustment.

We all have to be careful we don't get what
I would call tunnel vision, and that is seeing
only the bad and losing sight of the good....
It happens all the time, and it can happen
to any of us, so we need to regularly check
our attitude,

 How is your PMA??

That is Your Positive Mental Attitude??

Being Thankful for that 80% will also help
you see the 20% a whole lot less.......

Be joyful always; pray continually;
 give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you,
 in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18

Being thankful and praying for what
ever the situation is will help us
 with the Joyful part.....

The Lord knows that........
it's why He tells us to do it and.....
it's a choice, and we don't have to
 feel like it,
we just have to do it..............

 So.............As the Nike commercial
used to say,

JUST DO IT......................

P.S. Follow up note:
Today is Thursday Jan. 29th....
Just thought I would let you know
I got tested on this post today.
My daughter was hoping to fly
here on Feb. 6th, and we were
all so looking forward to it, and
she got the word today that she
can't get off work, and we are
both so bummed, had a lil melt
down, but realized how thank-
ful and blessed I am that she
 just lives in Asheville, could
be much further away.....and
that I get to speak with her by
 phone or email most days.
Of Course, we all know face
to face is better especially if
you love language is Quality
time, which that is my love
language, but guess we just
have to wait a while longer,
but perspective really is
everything!!  lol

Thankful Thursday - January 22, 2015 and Southwestern White Chili Recipe

Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.Your will be done,On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Seems I have been getting every thing done but
getting my house redecorated,  I am sort of stuck
in transistion for some reason,  so hoping today
will be the day for my creativity to kick in.....just
need to figure out a starting point.............lol
and get going for pete's sake.

Meant to post this
 "Southwestern White Chili" Recipe
this week and didn't get time,
so since it is a Kraft recipe,  just gonna give
you the link to it.  Just Click Here.

This is a super easy and super delicious Chili

All the pictures show how I like to top it off.

Well, since I am late again, guess I had best get
finished up..........all my Thankfuls are done,  just
 gotta do the closing.......
Think I might have to rename
this post Thankful Thursday, Friday soon!!  lol

Just the Chili

I am thankful

#1
that hubby had off for Martin Luther King
Day, making it a 3 days weekend.  So that
was very nice.

#2
to have all our Christmas things down
and packed away for another year.

Chili with mexican style cheese

#3
that I got called for a dental cleaning appt.
since someone had to cancell,  and I had
to cancell myself a couple of weeks ago
cause of my coughing, so would not have
gotten in till April.

#4
for the good dental report as well,  always
nice to know things are well and good
with our health in any way......

Chili with cheese and fresh ground pepper

#5
that I finally found some nice brown flats that
I have been looking for quite some time.
Could hardly find anything I liked and if I did they
were sold out or really pricey,  and I only wear
them once in awhile in the Winter, so didn't feel
like investing that much.  So glad I waited...
found some Life Stride leather flats for just $16.00.
and they are comfortable, and I was super happy
about that!!  lol

#6
that I found 2 items I heard about from a utube
tutorial that I wanted to use with my card making
that they said Michaels Crafts had,  but went
there and they didn't have it and no one had
even heard of them,  but was happy to find them
online at Walmart,  and they should be arriving
by Friday or Monday.

Chili with cheese, pepper and tomatoes

#7
that Dee has been training a new girl at work
and they really seem to hit it off and she is
closer to Dee's age than any others friends
that she has..........so could turn in to a good
friendship.

#8
for mail carriers, and thinking about mine
this morning and how easy he makes our
lives by delivering mail to our mailbox
every day and then when we get packages
he brings the mail up to the door too,
my old carrier never did that, just think
it is just a nice and thoughtful guesture,
and am particularly thankful for my SIL
Susan's mail carrier because he is the one
who found her on the driveway last Oct.
when she broke her hip, and got an
ambulance there.  So if you or your
family member is an mail carrier, we
appreciate you very much.

Chili with cheese, pepper, tomatoes and fresh chopped cilantro

#9 for Del Monte peaches that come in small
containers so I can have them anytime.
Had them for breakfast with bread and
butter and a glass of milk.
Now that's some good eating!   lol

#10
that I was able to take a lil time to sit
in the sun for a few minutes,  it was a
gloriously beautiful day today mostly
sunshine, and it has been cloudy so
much in the last weeks, so what a
simple pleasure..........

Chili - Time to Eat and Enjoy!  Yum Yum

#11
for a lovely story I just read on yahoo
news......it was about a police officer
that found an abandoned 9 mo. old
baby 51 yrs. ago,  and they finally met
for the first time.  Love hearing those
stories,  they are so neat and they are
true, and such an encouragement.

#12
for this fun song me and lil darling have
fun dancing too.  She just loves it, and so
do I, it always puts a smile on our face
Think it will put a smile on your face too.
It is called "It's a beautiful Day"

or you can copy and paste it yourself if you want.
