Thankful Thursday December 10, 2015, scenes from Christmas past 2

There came a man who was sent from God;
his name was John.  He came as a witness
to testify concerning that light, so that
through him all men might believe.
He himself was not the light; he came only
as a witness to the light.
The true light that gives light to every man
 was coming into the world.
John 1:6-9

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope you are enjoying this time of

preparation for Christmas.

Today has been a day for cooking and
baking for me, and have to say I pretty
much enjoyed it all while listening to
my Christmas music.  I love that our
christian radio station Z-88 plays
Christmas music all season long, just
like the regular stations did when I was
a kid,  from Thanksgiving to New
Years!  Love it...................

Since I am still not done with my
decorating thought I would just
show you some more scenes from
Christmas's past.

So here we go...................

I am thankful

#1
Greatly thankful....................
for the true light that came into the world,
that we celebrate at Christmas and every
day.........Jesus Christ, the son of God!

#2
for this video that is a really great reminder
to us all about the true meaning of Christmas.

What if Christmas looked at more like Jesus?

#3
for online shopping, and that I am just
about done with our shopping,  and the
last few years we have cut back......
 quite a bit.

#4
that Dee will be able to come down the
night after Christmas for a few days.
Lord Willing!  as Jerry will be working,
but she if off.

#5
that a situation that our sweet son-in-love
had going on at work, seems to be resolved
and he is happy with the outcome.

#6
that I was able to find a gift that I was
trying to order online, but couldn't as
they were out of stock, and I was able
to find it at a store on hubby's way
home. So they have it set aside and
he will be able to go by and get it
 today.  Such a help.............

#7
that hubby will be able to work at home
now tomorrow,  his boss was in town
and was suppose to be here on Friday,
which meant he had to go in,  and we
are having our Sunday School class
party at 6 p.m. on Friday,  which
meant we would be late.........so now
no problem.  Praise the Lord!

#8
that I just finished making the Lasagna
for the party tomorrow night and an extra
pan for when Dee visits after Christmas.

#9
for free shipping........I have not paid for
shipping on anything I have ordered.

#10
for Christmas music, I love doing what-
ever I have to do as I listen to Christmas
music..........just brightens up my day.

#11
that we finally just finished the Rolo
Pretzel candies...........Yeah!

#12
for answers to prayer for a young
couple we know,  God is at work,
and we are excited to see what is
gonna happen...........

Well, there you have it another week
at Cozy Place.

Glad you could come by...............

Have a Holly Jolly Friday, Weekend

and Christmas!!

Keep your light shining brightly!

Love, Hugs, and

Christmas Season Blessings,
Nellie

1st Christmas Vignette and Easy Peasy "Rolo Pretzel Candy" Recipe, Great for making with the kiddles

Hello Sweet Friends,

How are things going at your house?
Have you finished your decorating yet?

Have to say I haven't finished, but then as
I told you last week, I put the shopping
ahead of it, so am 90% done with the
shopping, so have gotten quite a bit of
decorating done the last few days, but
 have more to go.............lol
Finally finished the fireplace and mantle
today, and had done the sofa table and
serving cart the day before, and put some
pillows out, so it is beginning to look a
lot like Christmas in the family room
at least.........lol

Have also been making candy for gifts
for our Sunday School class party. I call
them "Rolo Pretzel Candies" and everyone
who eats them loves them, and typically
asks who brought them, anytime I take
them to something, and they can not
believe how easy they are to make.

So...........
they are a favorite with us and our family.
So will give you the recipe at the end of
the post.  It is really a good recipe to make
with your kiddies or just as a fun family
project..............Hubby and I actually had
a lot of fun making them..........it is sort
of like playing beat the clock.......lol

These pics are from the first vignette I created
with the lovely Christmas bouquet my friend
brought me last week,  and the only decor pics
I have taken so far................this was taken in
the kitchen....justin case you can't tell........lol

This lil snowman you see here was not
already on the pitcher.  They are those
stick on window gel thingies,  so since
the subway art picture behind it had
a snowman, happened to think of these
lil stick on's I got for lil darling, so had
some fun with them.  They stick on so
easily.  Thought he was quite cute.....

Already has these lil children's gloves so
thought they went with the snowman theme,
but they are more lime green, so don't know
 why they look sea green...................
Lighting I guess.............

Here is a Posterized version from
photoshop,  my fav!

Got the neat sign or picture at Christmas tree
store last year...............and love it, cause that
is truly my feelings about Christmas.

Now..............
on to the fun and delicious candies

Rolo Pretzel Candies

Already had these piled into a container when
I decided to share this,  so just took a pic as
it was due to time constraints. Sorry it is
a bit blurry,  but you get the idea how they
should look at least.

You will need a bag of pretzels, I like Snyder
pretzels the best,  and the gluten free work
fine and taste great, but they taste even
better with the butter snap ones.  So what
ever works for you...................

and some Rolo's..........
(Have no idea why the pic is sideways.....lol)

We used to use the larger Rolo's that you have
to unwrap, but then we discovered the Rolo
Mini's that are already unwrapped and make
it even easier.  I would say 2 bags of Rolo's
to one bag of Pretzels

and you will also need
 Pecan  or Walnut Halves.......

As many pecan/walnut halves as you have
pretzels that you put on a cookie sheet.

Directions

Use an ungreased or parchment paper
covered cookie sheet and put as many
pretzels on it as possible.  I put them
pretty close together.  Make sure to
count them as you put them on, so
you will know how many rolos (if
you use the kind you have to unwrap
or nuts to count out ahead of time,
make sure you do this step as once
they come out of the oven,  time is
of the essence.

Once you have all the pretzels on the
cookie sheet,  top each one with a rolo,
then put them in a preheated 350 degree
oven for just 3 mins. or so.  I just open
the oven up and take a nut and see how
easily it squishes down on the top of
the rolo, and if it is easy then take them
out and commence putting and squish-
ing the nuts on top very quickly before
they cool.  Once the nuts are on top,
let them cool a bit,  and commence
eating..........Yummo!

I have also tried them with snicker
bites on top, and that is very good
too..................

Happy you could stop by..........
and hope you try these delectable little
treats, cause You won't be sorry
I promise!!

Have a lovely rest of the week.

Love, Hugs, and

Candy Making Blessings,

Nellie

Thankful Thursday December 3, 2015, scenes from Christmas past

"The virgin will be with child and
will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel"
--which means, "God with us."
 Matthew 1:23

 Greetings this Christmas Season
Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you well, happy

and unstressed.......

Have to say I was feeling a bit
stressed earlier this week, as you
will see when you read this post,
plus I am quite behind my usual
schedule. I am typically mostly done
with my shopping by now, but have
just gotten started a few days ago,
but did get some done these last few
days, thankfully, and I made list of all
that needs to happen, and decided on
my starting point, which is always the
 hardest thing to decide......
Decided the shopping would come
 before the decorating. Finding that
starting point helps me prioritize.
Did bring some of the decorations
in this morning, as I figured I could
do some online shopping and most
likely get some decorating in too!

Since I haven't really done any
decorating but putting up the tree,
thought I would show you some
scenes from Christmas past.

So on with the post.

I am thankful

#1
for the nice time we all had while
Dee and Jerry were here.

#2
incredibly Thankful.....
that a scare we had with Dee on
Monday turned out fine. Her plane
never landed in Asheville and her
hubby was told  that the plane flew
half way there and due to problems
they had to turn and come back to our
airport, and we, of course, thought
it was some sort of mechanical
problem, and the time frame from
which she left and the time that is was,
when we found out about it, left us
wondering why hasn't she contacted
us, and we could not get a hold of
anyone with the airlines, finally we
found out not too long before she was
finally able to text Jerry and call us,
to come get her that they actually flew
all the way to Asheville, but due to
heavy fog and visibility problems they
could not land, so had to come back,  so
we got her from the airport around mid-
night,  and she will fly out at noon
 today. (Tuesday)
We were all relieved that they can-
celled the flight because they were
suppose to refuel and try again on the
same night, which made no sense to us
and seemed dangerous as well, and
we were delighted that we got a few
more hours with her, as we didn't
expect to see her again so soon!  lol

#3
So thankful that Dee finally made
it home safe and sound Tuesday
night.  She left our airport at noon,
on Tuesday and they flew to Asheville
and again could not land for the same
reasons, so they took them to Knoxville,
Tn. Airport, and were gonna bus them
over to Asheville.  Dee had met another
young lady who was a college student,
and she had met another student that
went to the same college, so the 3 of
them decided to rent a car and drive
home themselves and split the cost
of the rental car........it was a very
good idea or else they would have
been waiting hours for a bus, and
probably would not have gotten
home 11-12 P.M.  Dee finally got
home about 7P.M. and in only cost
her $20.00.........so worth it!!

#4
that I finally heard from my hubby
on Tuesday.  He left for work and
hours later I was trying to reach him
for about 2-3 hrs, by cell, work phone
and email and could not get him and
they never have meetings unless his
boss is in town, which he was not.
So I was beginning to think some-
thing was wrong.....and wondering
if he made it to work or not, finally
he did call and they had a huge
unexpected meeting and they took
them all to a hotel nearby to their
bldg. and he never thought of calling
to let me know till they were in the
meeting...................so was very
happy to hear from him.
This last few days have been a lil
bit stressful I have to say!
but I am very grateful all the
situations turned out fine.
Praise the Lord!

#5
that I came across the blog address of
the blogger who did this Fall printable
you see below.  I used it in my Fall
decor but could not give her credit,
as I misplaced her address.......but
I believe in giving credit where credit
is due.......so better late than never,
 it was Rachel at
 Shades of Blue Interior.
Click here to visit her or
type in............
http://www.shadesofblueinteriors.com/i-painted-something-for-you-free-printable-hop/

Thank you Rachel, loved your
drawing.........as you can see!

#6
for our Homedic Massager,  it has done
wonders for my lower back lately.

#7
that Scott and Megan are both feeling
better,  they were both sick on Monday
but feeling better, not quite 100%
 yet tho.

#8
for the fun time I had with our lil darling
today.  She dressed up in an white eye
let nite gown I have, and said she was
a princess,  and we had a tea party and
she just talked and talked, and I acted
like I was understanding it all but I
couldn't understand half of it, but she
was really into it, hand gestures and all.
So adorable!  She really is so much
fun..............and such a girly girl!

#9
that a sweet blogger friend sent me
a wonderful advent calendar from
Jacquie Lawson today, can't wait to
figure out how to get into it,  my
hubby will figure it out,  it is out
of my league.......but if you have
ever seen her ecards they are
stellar...........just love them.
So excited to see it!

update:  hubby got it up or down
loaded over the weekend and I am
really enjoying it........and it even
has a cute game on there, that I
found out how to pull up every day,
so treat myself to a game daily.
Thanks Mimi...........this was really
fun and a great reminder of what
the season is all about as well.
Blessings to you, Hon,

#10
all my Fall decor is down and
packed away till next year, and
that we at least have the tree up.

#11
for a nice long visit today with
my sweet friend Becky,  it has
been months since we have seen
each other due to either her or my
 schedule........so we had lots to
catch up on...............

#12
for the sweet bouquet of Christmas
 flowers she brought me.............
I am off to arrange them in a nice
vase now.....
update: They have graced my
kitchen table with beauty.
Will show you soon!

Thanks so much for dropping by.......

Hope you are having a good time

 preparing for Christmas.  I absolutely
love Christmas, and it really is the
Most Wonderful Time of the Year,
All because of JESUS and his
birthday celebration.

Have a lovely Weekend.

and keep you light shining brightly!

Love, Hugs and

Christmas Preparation Blessings,
Nellie

Our Thanksgiving Table

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving
weekend, and maybe got a lil something
done towards Christmas.........
Oh my, today is the last day of November,
can hardly believe it.....but it's true......lol

We were happy that our daughter got to
come back here on Saturday and spend
some time with us, then Sunday she
visited one of her best friends, and
Sunday night we watched lil darling
so she, Megan and Scott went out to
dinner to celebrate Megan's birthday, and
so they could have a nice interrupted
dinner, and all you Mom's know what
I mean................lol

We did get our tree up, nothing but lights
on it thus far, but that will come........
Today Dee is still here and will be here
till later this afternoon, so not sure what
or if we are doing yet.........she is still
sleeping. She was tired and not feeling
super as she has been around 2 lil ones
that have colds, so we are hoping she
isn't catching their colds. Neither of
them was not lil darling, Thankfully.

Wanted to show you are Thanksgiving
table today and get it posted before
December........so today is the day!!  lol

I had seen an inspiration picture in a
Better Homes and Garden magazine
that I took with me on vacation, and just
loved a table I saw in there, so decided
that was what I wanted to do for Thanks-
giving, as it was a bit more modern than
usual and it would be quite different
for a change.  When it came time to
actually do the table I could not find
my inspiration picture in any of the
magazines I thought it was in,  so the
table is a bit different.  Know they
used real pears, but couldn't remember
what else,  so I just used the candle
instead.

So while I was in Asheville I found this
pretty solid turquoise wrapping paper.
It is actually bluer than this picture
makes it look.

It's really this shade of blue.......
only darker which you will see a
couple of pics down.  I took a
plate from the set I was going to
be using to set the table, and
then took one of the bowls and
turned it upside down to make a
cake plate again, and then added
the gold pumpkin with the orange
 berries.

Used the gold mercury glass candleholders
again and the orangier colored leaves.

Used a gold tablecloth then added the blue
wrapping paper over that, then used my
shabby chic dishes.  This and the header
pic were my trial pictures......

Used my Wedding Silverware, and
clear crystal goblets, to add some
elegance.

Already had the right color of blue napkins,
so just folded them into a lil pillow,  then
knew I needed some orange to tie it together,
so made the Happy Thanksgiving place cards

Added the Place cards and just a stripe
of orange satin ribbon and a tiny pumpkin
for some more orange accents.

A nice overview

Overview with a  Posterized Affect

This gold pumpkin is one of my favorites,
I have 3  of them and they were all on the
so borrowed this one off the mantle for
the table.

From opposite end of the table

Well, hope you enjoyed our
Thanksgiving Table,  we did!

Glad you could drop by for a visit,
always a pleasure to have you
come by...........

Have a lovely week!
and
Keep your light shining brightly

Love, Hugs and
Happy December Blessings,
Nellie
