Thankful Thursday February 11, 2021, and Valentine's Decor from the past

We love, because he first loved us.

1 John 4:19 NIV

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope your week was a good one.

Have to say ours was a very rough

week emotionally. As we have already

 been saddened about our friend,

Arlene who has the Ovarian cancer,

and who has been waiting to get her

treatment, and it looks like she is going

to be able to go this Sunday, but she

has been having more difficult problems

this week and is in the hospital again,

and they are trying to get her built up

and in shape because she is scheduled

to fly to Germany on Sunday to finally

 get her T-cell treatment.

I have been able to text some with her

and It is just heartbreaking to hear all

that she is going through, and I am

only hearing the tip of the iceberg.

Then on Tuesday Evening my other long

time Best Friend's (Vicki) hubby called and

she had fallen on the tile bathroom floor, and

dislocated her hip, broke her femur bone on

the left leg and her tibia bone on the right leg,

and tested positive for covid, which she and

her hubby already had but were asymtomatic

and Monday was supposed to be their first

day off quarantine. As of now, they fixed her

dislocated hip (which was probably quite ex-

cruciating from what I hear, she has had 2

surgeries one on Tues. for her Tibia bone, and

one on Wed for her Femur......She came through

them both well and her hubby did get to sit with

her for an hour while she was in recovery, but

then they took her back to the covid ward, so

now he can't see her.  Although, she came

through the femur bone surgery well, the Dr.

is concerned that because of her bone density

that it might not work, which would mean a

much more extensive surgery to put a new

cadaver bone in, or she could be in a wheel

chair the rest of her life. They tried to get

her up yesterday but her legs were too week

and numb, and of course, she is exhausted

after all she has been through, so we are

praying that changes in the next few days.

I am concerned that she might have a

pinched nerve or something because she

started having problems with her legs

before she fell, and had been in bed for

a few days before, and had planned to

go to the Dr. on Monday, but then fell

during the night.  Haven't been able to

talk or text with her yet,  but hoping to

in the next few days.

Both of these ladies have been such a

wonderful part of my life for over 40 yrs.

and are such lovely, sweet, encouraging and

loving Christian ladies, it is just so hard

to hear of their great suffering, and not

be able to see them or talk to them. cause

they are like family and I can't imagine

what their real family is going through.

So.....onto a more positive note.

Pictures today are from decor of

Valentines Days past!!

So on with my Thankfuls......

#1 and 2

Thankful my friend came through all

the traumatic situations well, and her hubby

said she was in good spirits yesterday even

though she was exhausted and in spite of all

she has been through. Also Thankful for all

my friends on facebook who are praying

for Vicki as well, Many are from our church

and some knew her from when they were mem-

bers many years ago, and some don't even

know her but are praying for her,  Prayers

are a precious and real gift to others all

the time, but especially, at times like this.

#3

Thankful for more work we got done

on our shop.  Hubby has done some

helpful videos and I completed more

cards.  Gonna take a break after I

finish one more............

#4

Thankful for one of the best sermons

I have ever heard from our Pastor.

I think the reason is because it involved

telling people that Jesus can change

 their lives........

Because even tho I was a Christian

and had asked Jesus into my heart

when I was 14yrs. old, I was never

 taught too much about him......

And one day, 40 yrs. ago, I heard

another Pastor from our same church,

say "Jesus can change your life".

I had never heard that before, and

altho I can look back now and the

Lord had made changes I just hadn't

recognized it at the time, but knowing

 that one lil sentence

 "Jesus can change your life"

literally did change my life, as I began

asking Him about that and HE began

to show me, using other people, the

Bible and books and the rest...

my friends is history I am very

thankful for.........

People can never hear that enough!!

#5

Thankful for a nice lunch out with friends

to Cracker Barrel.....as it's been a while

so it was quite enjoyable.

#6

Thankful that I got 3 leads from friends

off of facebook, for someone to do our

driveway, hopefully this year. Guess

we can start getting estimates now.

Yippee!

#7

Thankful that we have and are getting

some more, much needed rain.

#8

Thankful for our new ring doorbell

we got for Christmas.  So nice that

you can talk to people on it and you

have no need to open the door to a

stranger, and you can even answer

it if you aren't home.  Wild.....

We haven't yet had that experience

but think it's really neat.

#9

Thankful that I didn't fall or hurt

myself for long.....as I tripped over

something in the garage and hurt

my foot initially, but came close to

falling and my foot was okay within

a few minutes.  Shew!  This was

before I heard about my friend,

so doubly thankful now......

#10

Thankful that we got to work out in the

back yard some and that we accomplished

quite a bit for an hour and a half.

I love seeing the progress. Our trees

and grass are confused since it warmed

up, they think it is Spring already.

I am so hoping they are wrong.  lol

#11

Thankful for a nice long phone chat

with our Son as he was driving back

 home from South Florida. Doesn't

happen a lot but I love when it does.

#12

Thankful to see lil darling yesterday

for a few hours, and that we went out

and were able to find what we wanted

for Valentines Day and some things

for her birthday which is coming in

just a few weeks.  So we are ahead

of schedule.....I always like that!!  lol

Well, that's it for this week at Cozy Place

Glad you could stop by

and

Hope you have a very Sweet and

 Pleasant Friday and Weekend!

Thankful Thursday February 4, 2021, Valentines table from the past

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith;

be courageous; be strong.  Do everything in love.

                                     1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you Well and Warm.

We are well and warm, have been

enjoying a nice Winter,  temp. are

cold but not too cold.  Not too much

going on,  just working on Valentines

for our shop and doing those house-

hold chores we all have to do.

Decided pics this week should maybe be

something for Valentines day, since it is

right around the corner., so thought I

would do pictures from a tablescape

from the past.  I know I said it would

be Winter decor but decided it would

be better to wait until after Valentines

as it will still be Winter...........lol

Just a table for two that I threw together
by shopping our house.

#1

Thankful for a few sweet and peaceful

moments during one of our full moon lit nights

this week, as I was up for awhile and as I

gazed out the window in our backyard, it was

just so still, quiet and beautiful and all just

seemed right with the world...........

definitely a God Wink!

#2

Thankful hubby and I had a fun night out going

to Sams and Wally World and out to dinner at

Longhorn Steakhouse.  Nice to get out of the house

for awhile.  Also got to see our Son and lil darling

for a short while too,  Which always makes

me a happy girl...........

#3

Thankful we found some Patti LaBelle black-

berry cobbler.....it is the bomb. Hubby just

happened on it a while back and decided

to try it, so we are sold,  really delicious

and I didn't have to make it.......lol

#4

Thankful that there might be a possibility

of our Daughter and Son-in-love coming

in late February.  So hoping that works

out,  of course!!  lol

#5

Thankful for my brilliant hubby and

his amazing computer skills.  As we

have had so many glitches and things

to work out since I got the new computer,

It has kept him quite busy and happy

I might add,  as he is truly in his

element with techy stuff.

#6

Thankful for so many new shows on

the Magnolia channel, from Magnolia

kitchen, new fixer upper shows, and

 inspirational entrepreneurial shows.

We are really enjoying their new

network.  Go Chip and JoAnna.

#7

Thankful for a lot of texting with my

sweet friend Arlene, who has the ovarian

cancer.  She has really been going thru

so much, my heart is just breaking for

her, and her family.  They are all taking

such good care of her too. She sent me

a video of her feeding her daughters lil dog

(an adorable fluff ball, a lil Pomeranian) some

watermelon popsicle and she sounded so

chipper cause she was having a good day.

Did my heart good to hear her. She is

such an amazing woman of faith. She

is supposed to be going to Germany in the

next week or so to get T-cell treatment.

If you feel so led,  please pray that she

will be able to go physically, and also

that Germany will allow it,  as she has

been supposed to go many times in this

past year, but due to covid it has been

cancelled many times.

#8

Thankful for 4 Valentine's cards

I completed this week.

#9

Thankful for a nice time having dinner and

playing games with our Son and lil darling.

#10

Thankful for a sweet Thank You card we

received from a friend  today.....loved her

sweet sentiments, and the front of the card

(done by a lady named Dawna Barton, who I

looked up, she is an artist in her 70's that has

lived in Utah all her life). The card front is

a watercolor of a 2 story house, I fell in

love with this card, the colors she used

(a lot of peachy pink and green) and I

totally love water colors painting. It

reminds me a lot of Erin on the show

"Home Town" cause it looks a lot like the

watercolor drawings she always does

for her client. Now I can't wait for

Spring as I will definitely be using

it in my spring decorating some

where for sure.......

#11

Thankful that has hard as the Covid

Pandemic has been on everyone, and

I know it's been harder on some than

others, but I think it has strengthen us,

and helped us see our priorities more

clearly and has drawn us all closer to

God, and made most of us more

desirous of Heaven than ever before.

#12

Thankful for all the Winter weather

we have had this year, and that

I have actually gotten to wear all of

my Winter dress clothes to church.

Know that sounds weird, but typically

it will be cold during the week and

come Sunday it would be too warm.

So I would be lucky if I got to wear

them all once, and this year I am

actually worn some of them twice. lol

In case you don't know we live in

Central Florida. That's Why!!

Well....that's it for Cozy Place this week.

Thanks for visiting

and

Hope you have a Super Duper

 Friday and weekend.

Keep your light shining brightly

Dinner for tonight - Lemon Chicken Soup with Spinach

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you keeping warm, cause

I know most of you have lots colder temps

than us, but we are enjoying staying warm

with our temps of 53 degrees today!!  lol

Cold to us, here in Florida.

I decided to make some soup I haven't made

yet this year.  I can't take credit for it,  I found

it in a  Winter Cottage Magazine way back

in February of 2013.  I posted it way back then.

So since we love it so much, decided I would

just repost the recipe and put my own picture

of it this time.........It's actually an easy recipe

to make too,  and I love quick and easy

recipes.....don't YOU???

So thought you might just like to try

it yourself.

Le

Lemon Chicken Soup with Spinach

Makes 13 cups

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
(I always use olive oil)

4 shallots, chopped
( I had never used shallots before, so decided to use them,
but honestly, I would just use a purple or regular onion
next time, they are rather expensive and I couldn't tell
 any difference).

2 stalks of celery, thinly sliced

1 carrot, thinly sliced
(I used the crinkle cut sliced carrots in a bag,
enough to look like one large carrot. lol )

2- 32 oz. containers of low-sodium chicken broth
(I used the Swanson's 100% fat free and 33% less sodium one,
that is what makes it heart healthy)

2 bay leaves

4 cups shredded rotisserie chicken meat
(We used the 4 cups and it is a lot of chicken, so you could
easily get away with 3 cups.)

1-(6oz.) bag of baby spinach, chopped
(I missed the chopped part somehow, and just put it
in whole and it was fine, so another step you could do
away with if you want.)

6 tablespoons of lemon juice
(This is what really sets this soup apart from others,
the lemon really adds such a a nice flavor.)

1 tsp. of salt
( I didn't add the salt, cause the broth really has
 enough salt for us.)

1/2 tsp. of ground black pepper

Directions

In a large pot or dutch oven, heat oil over
medium high heat.  Add the shallots, celery,
and carrot. Cook for 5 mins. or until softened.
Add Chicken broth and bay leaves, and bring
to a boil.  Lower heat, and simmer for 15
minutes.  Remove the bay leaves.

Stir in chicken, spinach, and lemon juice, salt
and pepper.  Cook until spinach is wilted and
chicken is heated through, about 2 mins. or so.

and Enjoy!!

We had grill cheese sandwiches with ours
and we haven't had those since last Winter,
so it was all very good.

Welcome to February,  by the way!!

Scripture Sunday

Good Sunday Morning
Sweet Friends,

Here's the verse for today!

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
 nor his delight in the legs of a man;
the LORD delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
Palm 147:11 NIV

Let's all put our hope in his unfailing Love.

Hugs,
Nellie
