Thankful Thursday - January 19, 2012

Be joyful always;  pray continually;  give thanks in all
circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Evening...................
Sweet Peas,

Here is hoping you have had a good week.......
but if not,  here's hoping you might gain
some encouragement to carry on.

The Lord tells us to praise him in all things,
and guess what, He means it.  Now with
that being said..........what if we don't feel
like it???  It matters not,  He never said
we had to feel like it,  He just said do it,
and you know what,  everytime I obey
that command,  and yes,  it is a command
from scripture,  I feel way better,  it is
truly a supernatural path to Joy!

To tell you the truth I haven't had a great week,
me and hubby have felt like we had a touch of
the stomach flu,  then finally that went away,
and I had a misunderstanding with someone
that felt heartbreaking, and right now I am very
tired because I only slept about an hour last
night (think it was some sinus meds I took,
sometimes they make me hyper) but I have
learned and gladly have kept this discipline of
writing a list of Thankfuls every Thursday
for the last 2 yrs. and 8 months, and you
know what??? It has revolutionized my life.
It is like it has trained me to see the good,
and not so much of the bad.  I would
highly recommend it to you too, with this
crazy world of negativity we live in.

Definitely not meaning to come across
as super spiritual or as a nag,  but just
eager to pass along something the Lord
has taught me that has greatly improved
my life and the life of others that practice
it as well.......................

So with that said,
#1
I am thankful
for the absolutely gorgeous day we had today.
Perfectly clear blue skies, with a cool morning
in the 60's leading up to an afternoon temp
of 73 degrees.  Delightful,  and a great day to
 be out of the house.

#2
I am thankful
that the heart breaking misunderstanding got
straightened out yesterday.  Can not tell you
what a relief that was!!

#3

I am thankful
that we are feeling better,  since we had
that potential stomach virus earlier this
week.  Yeah!!

#4
I am thankful
that after a nap this afternoon and a good meal
I am feeling not quite as tired, and think I should
 sleep well tonight......hopefully!

No sinus meds today!!  lol

#5
I am thankful
that my house is back to normal,  but with
a little bit of a different look.  Will probably
show you some pics next week.
Really enjoying that!

#6
I am thankful
for bible studies,  because you just learn
so much more than with mere reading.
Today was my bible study and I am thankful
I didn't fall asleep on the table, lol,  I was
plenty alert earlier in the day surprisingly.

#7
I am thankful
for grocery stores,  cause what in the world would we do
without them.  I'd hate to think I would have to depend on
my skills to grow food,  course, at least I do have a lil
edge since my son is a grower,  but still imagine having
to grow or get all your own food somehow.  Course,
I know they used to do it in the old days,  just think we
would be sorely unprepared!  lol

#8
I am thankful
for nuts of all kinds: my favs are pecans, cashews, pistachios,
macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, and almonds.  They are such
a great addition to our diet,  and so heart healthy because
they have such good oils, and they make everything taste
delightfully good.  We eat them daily, cause they are
part of a heart healthy diet.

#9
I am thankful
that a sweet lady I told you about before that was
in a rehab hospital is home and doing very well,  and
just about ready to go from a walker to a cane.
So happy to here that good news and happy for her
that she is home.

#10
I am thankful
that the other gentleman they we went to see
at the same time is now home and doing amazingly
well also.  So glad to hear he is home too,
They are both just the sweetest christians, and
Great to see the Lord answers to prayers in
their behalf.............

#11
I am thankful
we are gonna get to have Rosie on Sunday for the
day or maybe even a few days,  it has been awhile
and we have missed our lil grandaughter dog!!  lol

..............and here she is...............

#12
I am thankful
for a delicious new decaf coffee I found a few months
back by Millstone coffee Co. called "CaramelTruffle".
I have only been able to find the sample sizes but
today I happened on a full size bag.   Can't wait
to have some in the morning.

#13
I am thankful
that a dear older saint from our church had her
prayers answered by the Lord, and got her
promotion to heaven.  She has been thru a lot
and was weary and ready to go.  I just had the
sweet thought a few minutes ago,  that maybe
Jim's Mom and my dad might have been part
of her welcoming party,  as she knew them
both.  Jim's mom from our church,  and my
dad from Key West,  where they both used
to live for years.

Well,  gonna go to bed now,  did our exercise
and finished my last two Thankfuls,  and
I am off to dream land!!  lol

Joyful Blessings,
Nellie

P.S. We did something to try and fix the problem
with my comments,  so hope it is working for you
now,  if not, please go to my sidebar,  and send
me an email.  thanks!

and
Have a great weekend!!

Tablescape Thursday - Tuscan birthday table for my son

Greetings Sweet Friends,

So what cha up to today???

Not much going on here today,  just getting ready to go
work on my bible study lesson and taking care of the
usual household tasks,  and of course, blogging!!  lol
Well, mostly downloading or uploading which ever they
call it!!  lol

Thought I would share the Tuscan neutral themed table
I did for my son back in November for his
34th birthday celebration.

I had seen an idea somewhere on TV, where they did a
Tuscan theme and it got me inspired,  so here is my
rendition of it........................

It turned out a lil differently than what I thought it would , when
I started planning it, but that was before I even knew that I was
going to be doing a reception for Dee and Jerry.
I had some many things left over from their Fall reception:
plates, napkins, candle holders, coasters and fluted glasses.

So decided I might as well use them up.....
So I started  playing with setting the table
like this and the picture above it,
  but then
for some reason, can't remember why now,
I decided to not put the plates on the table
and just use the napkins there instead.

I remember now....it was because I didn't have
enough of the large napkins,  so had to come
up with plan B.

So I used a large one at some places,

Then 3 smaller ones at other places in order to balance
out the table.

Since I always put candy at each place setting and
my son loves these rolo pretzel candles and I had
these gold dipping dishes,  I decided to put one
between each place setting so each couple could
share them.

Notice the bread sticks in they clay pots!

These were all herbs I transplanted into clay pots, basil,
parsley, and I had cilantro in one and it died,  so had to
go get another one and it was in the golden yellow pot,
Rosemary.  Since my son is a grower in the agriculture
field I thought this was a table he would appreciate.

I used my smokey green goblets from my Wedding dishes
over 40 years ago.  they are called Glamour by Fostoria.

Just stuck a small napkin in the clay
pot and added the bread sticks,  they
used really long ones,  but I could not
find any,  but thankfully,  I was able
to find these smaller ones and they
were absolutely delish.  Just like the
ones I got from you Bonnie!!

These glass cylinders were used at the wedding reception
too,  but have found quite a few nice uses for them since.
They had potpourri in the bottom with the candle on top.

and this raffia I bought Christmas before last, has
come in handy many times this past year for just
that extra added touch needed.

Had to do some photoshop affects too!!  lol
You know how much I enjoy that............
This has a paint daubs affect

Just some looks down the table from the
opposite end!  I have to say I love these
coasters,  that I got  from Michaels.
a 6pk. of them for $1.00.
Can't beat that,  and they add such
a nice touch!

 with colored pencil affect.

 with a posterized affect!

Put a gold mercury glass candleholder at
each place setting.

With water color and palette knife affect!

Also used the candleholders to put butter in,
  but didn't take a picture......
imagine that....lol

with cutout affect!

Posterized affect

Equalized affect

This pic and the following pic below are the vignette
I left on the table after the party,  for a few days.

Posterized affect!

Love the candle light!!  Ablaze!!

was still playing, so
Decided to add the coasters, lol

Am linking up to Susan over at between naps
on the porch,  if you want to see more creative
ideas from others. Just click here!

Thanks so much for your visit, and come again
soon.

Also thanks for your encouraging comments, they
are very appreciated it.  Love getting them!!

Love, Hugs,
and Tuscan Blessings.
Nellie

Warm Fuzzy Tuesday

Happy Tuesday
Sweet Friends,

How are ya???
Have a nice long weekend??

This was the first time ever
hubby had off for MLK day,
so that was new.....So
we had a nice long weekend.

Welcome to Warm Fuzzy Tuesday.
I came across a list I made a long time
ago and had forgotten about,  and it
was the idea of sharing what gives
us a warm fuzzy feeling.  I will share
one a week,  and hope you will join
me by leaving a comment with your
warm fuzzy as well.

So here goes:
I would have to say that this probably
really does top my list..........
That is having a deep conversation
with my hubby, children, good friend,
other believer, or even an acquaintance,
where you feel like you just so connected
with that person on an emotional level or
that you were just so much on the same
page about something.

It is probably because one of my love
languages, according to a Gary Hartman book,
called "The 5 love languages", is Quality time.
It makes me feel very loved........and
definitely gives me the warm fuzzies!!

So......how bout you,  what gives you a
warm fuzzy feeling????

Hugs and
Warm Fuzzy Blessings
Of course!!

Nellie

P.S.  If you have been having trouble
leaving a comment would you please
let me know, by going to my right side bar,
where it says contact me,  and/or you can
leave a comment there too, if you so desire.
A few others have said they are having
difficulties, and I keep hoping it will
straighten itself out since I don't know
 how to correct the problem.
Sorry!!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - January 12, 2012 & rest of pics from Holy Land Experience

All pics in this post are from the Holy land experience parking lot!

Evening Sweet Peas,

Hope you have a had a good week.
Can't believe tomorrow is Friday already!

Well, I am whipped....I had a full day.
My bible study started back up today,
so that would be
my
#1

I am thankful
that we are back in session again, my
fav part today was 2 wonderful testimonies
we heard from a couple of our ladies.
Really blessed my heart...........
Would share them, but they are too long
and involved, and I am just too tired! lol

Then.........
After bible study,  I ran to Target and got
some things,  then got my fav smoothie for
lunch, then ran to Publix supermarket where
I ran into a lady that goes to our church.

#2
I am thankful
for the nice chat we had that lasted over
an hour in the parking lot.  We have always
liked each other, and talk a blue streak on
those ocassions when we see or talk to each
other, as we have a lot in common, and I was
thinking afterwards we really should have them
over sometime, cause we are really on the same
wave length.

#3
I am thankful
that I ran into another lady at Publix that was
a stranger, in a Michaels store back in November,
She and I got talking while we were looking at
chargers for the table and we spent about an hour
or so trying to figure out what she could do for a
Thanksgiving table, since she was having company.

Can't help but think the Lord is up to something cause,
this is the 3rd time I have just run into her now, at
3 different stores, and we always have a lovely and
usually long conversation for a bit.
Very nice older than me,  lady.
Can't just say older lady anymore, cause
I am an older lady now..................lol

#4

I am thankful
that I didn't break my toes when I hit the rollers
on my gazelle this week,  as I hit them very hard
and did bruise them up,  but thankfully that was all.

#5
I am thankful
that when I hit my toes and threw coffee all over
the couch at the same time,  that we were able
to get it all off the sofa, and there were no spots
or anything.  A miracle as far as I am concerned,
cause it was a mess.

#6
I am very thankful
for our shop vac, cause that is what helped us get the
stains out,  we sort of soaked it with cold water and
just sucked it up.........it is old as the hills but still works
it's magic,  from sucking up water or dirt to spider webs,
to dog wee to coffee or whatever stains.  It has been a
 priceless asset to this household.
and I truly think the Lord is the power behind the
shop vac success story,  since we are usually praying
like crazy that it works........................
and it always does!!

#7
I am thankful
that I finally have all my Christmas decorations
down and packed away till next year,  always
a relief once it is done,  now I can get on with
getting the house prettied up again!!  lol
Didn't get anything done today,  but once
I finish this post I am going to sit down
with some decorating books for inspiration,
and hopefully, have a plan for tomorrow.

#8
I am thankful
that our church office emailed me late Tuesday
afternoon that they had found my watch I lost
somewhere between home and church 9 days ago!
 It was a favorite too!
So What a blessing and delight that was.
I picked it up today and it is in great shape.
So happy to have it back.

#9
I am thankful
that the Lord answered prayer about a dear
friends father who was dying with brain cancer,
and that the Lord took him home,  so he will
no longer be suffering,  a huge relief for my
friend.

#10

I am thankful
and ecstatic about a young man named, Tim
Tebow who plays football for the Denver Broncos,
some of you know who I mean, I am sure!
He is like a modern day Daniel from the bible,
and it is absolutely thrilling to see how the Lord
is using him. It is such a pleasure to see a sports
figure that has a good walk with the Lord, and
manifests moral values  like honesty, integrity, and
he is hardworking,  loving, and a very unselfish
 young man,  someone our young
people can really look up to as a role model.

I pray for him daily as he has a lot of pressure
and negativism surrounding him in the news
media,  and I am sure that is just the tip of the
iceberg of what he might go through.  Yet
I am happy to report there are tons of people like
me, who love him, and are saying great things,
and when is the last time you saw the news
media quoting scripture,  John 3:16, to be
exact...................How Wonderful!
Our country can sure use some of that
for sure...........Go Tim!!
We hope your team wins on
Saturday, and it just brings the Lord
more honor and glory!!  We know that
is your goal...............

#11
I am thankful
for some old and dear friends of ours that
are now realtors, course, she has been,  since I very
first met her in a model home 31 yrs ago, when she
invited me to her church back when we first moved here.
Her hubby is somewhat new to it, but they are a great team
from what I am hearing, and of course,  I am not surprised.
They are helping Dee and Jerry find their first home, and as
a parent that is a huge relief to know they are in good hands.

#12
I am thankful
that she invited me to her church, because a few weeks
later we took her up on the offer,  and have been there
every since.  Only wish they were still there..........
People use to think we were sisters cause we look a
lot a like,  and she and I have similiar personalities,
and we love both of them,  they are great people.
Think we might get to see them soon,  it has been
a long time,  so that would be such fun!!

Well,  that's my list, and I am sticking to it!!  lol

Hope you enjoyed Holy Land Experience's rendition
of Noah's Ark animals,  we thought they were
quite cute ourselves.....................

Have a fantastic weekend full of all the
People Places and Things you enjoy the most!

Thanks for your visit and comments,
always encouraged by hearing from you!

Love, Hugs
and Noah's Ark Blessings,
Nellie
