Day After Mother's Day

Good Morning,  Good Morning,
 Good Morning,
It's time to rise and shine
Good Morning, Good Morning,
Good Morning
I hope your feeling fine!
(It really was morning when I started this post!  lol)

That greeting.....
is a song from a record we used to have for my
children when they were little, called "Bull Frogs and
Butterflies" I think, it was!  Anyone remember that????
Don't know why but this lil song is running through my
head this morning.  Must be leftovers from
 Mother's day memories!!  lol

I sang it to them, many times in the morning to get them
out of bed.  When they were little they really liked it..........
not so much as teenagers!!  but I sang it  anyway!!  lol
I am who I am!!  Like it or not!!

Actually,  I felt they were pretty blessed to get out of
bed with a singing Mom,  certainly beats getting out
of bed with a Grandmother screaming at you!
That was my reality as a kid!!

And they do remember it..... something came up
about it not too long ago and my daughter laughed
and said I was just telling someone (at work)
about that the other day!!
I am hoping that was a good Memory, it was
certainly intended that way!!  lol

Well,  enough of my stroll down memory lane!!

So..............
How was your Mother's Day????

I truly hope it was a day full of love
 and joy or better
yet, a weekend full of love and joy!!

Have to say mine was a very Sweet Weekend.
Scott and Megan couldn't come Sunday,  and
Dee and Jerry couldn't come Saturday,  so I had
2 separate Mother's Day Celebrations,  and
they were both delightful!!

Saturday Scott and Megan brought me lunch.
Subway had these new orchard chicken salad
sandwiches I had been wanting to try,  so they
got those,  and Scott made this wonderful
pasta salad to go with it.  I have to say I am
impressed with his culinary skills,  he really
did an awesome job,  and we have been
able to enjoy it a few more times since he
made plenty.  Um Um!
(Wish I had thought to take a pic of it - it was not
only tasty it was pretty too)

They spent the afternoon with us,  and they
bought me a sweet card and a  new game,
 called "Apples to Apples",
so we spent some of the time
trying out the new game,  it was really quite
fun,  and it is a game that doesn't require
a lot of thinking,  so you can talk in between
if you want......I have to say I enjoy games
like that......cause If I have to put so much
thought into it that you can't converse while
you are doing it,  I will lose everytime!!  lol

Then we had some frozen yogurt with honey
cinnamon and nuts on top,  and Scott was
odd man out with chocolate and caramel.
That would be my usual pick too!

Then Sunday Dee and Jerry came over
around 2:30,  so we got to spend some
one on one time with them as well,  then
my SIL came over at 5,  and we all had
a lovely dinner of London broil,  baked
potatoes,  salad and rolls.

(Quick shot of table just before I sat down)

Then I got to open my lovely cards with
a gift certificate to Kohl's from Dee and Jerry,
and  some $$$ from my sister-in-law, very
Nice......as I could use something new
for summer!  So that will be fun!!

Hubby also bought me a lovely card, and this
pretty topiary when we were at Sam's
last week.  It is made from a dwarf azalea.
Isn't it gorgeous. I just love it!!

(I did several vignettes with my new topiary,
and had it in my kitchen till Sat., then as you can
see in the pic above moved it to the dining room.
If time allows, I will probably do tabletop Tuesday
with them tomorrow)

and I even got a sweet card from Dee's
roommate, certainly an unexpected
surprise.  She is a sweetie too!
Just like the rest of the kids!!

We also, played a few rounds of "Apples to
Apples", and  they all enjoyed the game as
well,  as we had some peanut butter cookies
and coffee for dessert.  We are trying to
go easy on the desserts as we want to
be able to fit in our dresses by the end
of the week!!  lol

So what an enjoyable, sweet and blessed
Mother's Day,  I had............

These guys really know how to bring
joy to a woman's heart!!

Please tell me about your Mother's day,
would love to hear!!

Well, just 4 more days.......................
can hardly believe it!!

Thanks for visiting,  love hearing from you!!

Love, Hugs,  and
May your Blessings Be Many!!

Nellie

 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

Many women do noble things,
 but you surpass them all.

 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Proverbs 31:28-30

May your Mother's Day Be Sweet and Lovely.......
Just like You!!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - May 5, 2011

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of
one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:15

Afternoon Sweet Peas,
Hope your Thursday has been a good one,
so far, full of hope, love and joy!

Mine has been good,  and has incorporated all of the
above, I must say!!

I have been cleaning my bathroom today,
such fun.............but do love the results,  and that
is why my
# 1 thankful is.............

#1
I am thankful
that I accidentally, (long story) got too much vinegar
and water on our floor tile in our bathroom.  It was
a very good accident,
Actually, the tile has never looked better!! lol
and really wasn't all that hard to clean up either.
So new lesson learned!!

#2
I am thankful
hubby has had 2 more phone interviews this week,
the Lord continues to encourage us in this way. I have
to say I am not getting as excited about them, altho I am
very thankful, I am saving my real excitement for when he
actually gets the job now. Live and Learn!!! lol
That is much easier on the emotions.....I have to say!!

He just had another phone interview and it was from one
of the places he talked to before but we felt the door hadn't
close yet. It is 90% work from home.
So............We'll See!

#3
I am thankful
for the ways the Lord encourages us all the time, and
if we do feel a bit down and ask for encouragement
He is always more than happy to give it to us.
Makes me think of the that verse, you
have not, cause you ask not.

So always good to ask, He never minds, since he
tells us to ask, and since nothing is too big for Him!!

#4
I am thankful
for the fun time we had out on Tuesday.  Nothing
real exciting,  just typical grocery errands and
a quick peek at our new Ross, which I told you
proved disappointing, but still just fun to get out
of the house awhile, and do something,
anything..............works for us!!  lol

#5
I am thankful
for yahoo maps and GPS Systems,  just finished making
2 maps for the wedding, one for Susan, then one for us,
then.... just as I finished printing ours I remembered we have
A GPS system for our car now, thanks to Scott and Megan
this past Christmas. Can you can tell we haven't had a lot of
opportunities to use it yet??  but,  hey, here is one..............
They make it so easy to get places these days.
 What a blessing!!

#6
I am thankful
for the wonderful visit we had last Friday from my
friend and her sister.  Told you about that on Monday,
but still  thinking about it, and still very thankful for it.
She and I have been writing back and forth some
this week too, so of course, that is a fun treat!

#7
I am thankful
for a lovely thank you card from some sweet friends
with a Cracker Barrel gift card included.  They
sure didn't need to,  but so happy they did,
another sweet gift!!

#8
I am thankful
for trials because they just teach us a boatload
of stuff we could not have learned any other way,
and they build our faith, and make us stronger
and more dependent on the Lord.

#9
I am thankful
that I finally got a book sent to a dear friend I have
been meaning to send it to for a long time, and I
am sure praying it helps them as much as it did us!!
That would be " Lost in the Middle", midlife and the
grace of God, by Paul David Tripp, know I have said
this before..........
but honestly every christian in mid-life really needs
to read it.  It is just such an annointed book!!

#10
I am thankful
for the news about Osama Bin Laden
because I am sorry for all the people that he killed, and
all their families who have suffered so much heartbreak
and sadness, and that now they might have some sense
of closure and peace. I am also sorry for the fear, terror
and the changes it has brought upon our world.  I am also
sorry for all the military men and women who have
had to sacrifice and leave their homes and family, some
emotionally and/or physically wounded and having to live with
the consequences of that the rest of their lives,  while others
losing their very lives, leaving brokenhearted wives, children,
family and friends in the pursuit of this evil man,
as they protected our country.
God Bless them Everyone!!

#11
I am thankful
Scott and Megan got all moved in to their new
dwelling,  and are getting everything all set up and
ready for their new life together.

#12
I am thankful
and excited for Scott and Megan's upcoming Wedding
next week.  We are happy to welcome this lovely young
woman into our family officially!!  They are just so good
together,  and we could not be happier for them!!

********************
Also,  that is the answer to what I was thinking
about in my White Wednesday post yesterday,
have to say Bonnie,  you came the closest to my
thoughts on that!!  Wish I had a prize to give away,
 maybe someday soon!! lol

Well,  that wraps up my gift list for the week,

Hope you have had a great week full of gifts
from your Heavenly Father as well.

Thanks for stoppin in,
you are always welcome, and make my heart
happy when you leave those encouraging
comments and thankfuls!

Love, Hugs,Thankful Blessings,
 and
A Sweet Weekend to you,

Nellie

White Wednesday

Morning Sweet Friends,

How are you doing today???
Great,  I hope!!

We're good,  got out for awhile last night........
to Sam's, Wally World, and our new Ross store.
It was fun to get out for a bit,  but have to say
the new Ross store was a big disappointment,
not much to look at really.  Don't know if they just
aren't done stocking yet,  or they just aren't carrying
 much these days!!

Decided to do a white Wednesday post for today.

And.................
all my whites have a theme and remind me of
something............see if you can figure out what???

Pearls

Sweets for the Sweetheart

Roses and bouquets

Elegant table settings

Any ideas of what I am thinking of yet???

a baby boy now all grown up

2 special people

Getting it yet???

I am sure you have gotten it by now???

So glad you came by.....
Be sure to tell me your guesses!
And I will tell you...............
 if you are right tomorrow.

Happy Monday

Good Morning,
 Happy Monday to You!!

How are you????
Hope you had a great weekend!

I have to say we really did have a great weekend.

The first highlight of my Friday was
watching the royal Wedding of Kate and Will.
I only caught part of it tho, cause I didn't get up
until 6:30 and to my surprise they had already
said their vows.  So I started watching just before
the Priest gave them their charge about marriage
and said the prayer they wrote for their marriage
(how neat), and all the lovely prayers thereafter,
  Beautiful I might add!!

Usually the news media covers so much stuff
ahead of time, I figured I would get up and it
would be an hour or two before they even got to
the wedding! So that was a bummer,
but thank goodness, for instant replays!!
Cause as the day unfolded I did get to
see most of the parts I missed.

Princess Katherine's dress was pretty much
the style I thought she would go with,  and
I had already heard that they aren't allowed
to show their arms or shoulders, so she would
probably have a dress with lace in those areas,
so it was really a beautiful dress so befitting
of her, I think.........She is a very elegant and
 modest young lady,  so refreshing
in our day and age.

I think she has really captured the hearts of
everyone,  she is such a lovely lady!  I can sure
see why Prince William was so drawn to her,
as she has many qualities much like his Mother,
 Princess Diana.
Princess Catherine already seems to be a natural
 at being a Princess!

The 2nd  and most wonderful Highlight of my Friday
was one of my long time best friends from Tenn. came
by to see us, along with her sweet sister.

These sisters are so much alike it is really appalling,
and  they are 2 of the neatest, most loving and giving,
feel right at home with them ladies  and sisters in Christ
I have ever had the privilege of knowing!!

They are full of wisdom, information and love to share
it with you, and they are full of great ideas as well.
I think they both have the gift of encouragement.
To say the time spent with them was so enjoyable
would be an understatement.
For me....they are a lil bit of heaven here on earth,
or as what one of my friends Diane calls it a lil
bit of Jesus with skin on!

Her sister Linda is a self taught hairdresser, and cut
my hair for me and it looks great!  Arlene loaned
me some pearl dangle earrings for the wedding.
They are always looking for a way to help.
 They really are amazing women.
So Friday was a mighty blessed day not only for
me, but hubby too!  We both love them too
death,  we only wished they lived here.

Saturday was a good day too,  we spent some
time watching some videos we have, made by
a fellow called John Eldridge,  some are on
marriage and one is on walking with God.
They are really quite inspirational.
If you would like to watch the latter one.

Scott and Megan were moving into their new
home (a larger apt. to accommodate 2 of them)
since the Wedding is only 11 days away now.
So they dropped by to bring us his newer than
our grill, cause ours is getting where it needs
some new grill racks replaced.  So that was
really sweet of them to do that.

Hopefully, early this week we will be able
to go see their new place.

Then we mowed the yard, had din din, got
ready for bed and turned in about 11:00,
which is good for us!~!  lol

Sunday was Sunday school and Church,
and our fav smoothie for lunch, and a nap,
then Scott and Megan came over to visit
in the late afternoon and stayed and had
an easy dinner of salad and pizza.
It was a fun time,  they were so excited
about their new place,  and we just had
a great time chatting about all sorts
of stuff.

I have to say my heart was full to over
flowing from this whole wonderful weekend!

And then to get up and read  this morning
that they have rid our world of this evil man,
Osama Bin Laden.

 I was thinking of the
contrast of how we are all rejoicing over
this lovely young couple that just wed in
the UK, who are great role models and who care
so much about other people, and how now, just
a few days later we are rejoicing over the death
of such an evil person.
Somehow it seems terrible to be rejoicing over
anyone being killed, but then this scripture came
 to my mind.
and it sure fits................

When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices;
when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
Proverbs 11:10

That is pretty much what I have heard on
the news this morning!

The Lord did finally bring justice to
Osama Bin Laden,  and I think the Lord
in His mercy, gave Osama 10 yrs.to repent
of his evilness,  and nothing..............

Well, guess I had better hush up!!

Oh Yea!! Did you by any chance notice
 my new blog look????

I was looking for a new blog face and happened
to see one that reminded me of a wedding,
so....... In Honor of my Son's Wedding and
since everyone is still tuned in to the Royal
Wedding, I thought it Perfect for this time!!!

So glad you came by to visit,
Always love hearing from you!!

Hope you truly have a Marvelous Monday!

Love, Hugs,
and Sunshiny Blessings,
Nellie
