White Wednesday/Thankful Thursday - July 14 ,2011

I will praise you O Lord my God.
with all my heart,
I will glorify your name forever,
For great is your love towards me:
you have delivered me from the depths
of the grave.
Psalm 86: 12 & 13

Morning Sweet Friends

Welcome to Thankful Thursday,
and since I was all prepared for
White Wednesday,  but never got
to do the post,  figured I would
just use white Weds. pictures
 and do both!!

So how are you???  and how has
your week been so far???
Good I hope!

Our week has been tumultous, somewhat disappointing
and pretty sad,  a myriad of emotions really,
 yet hopeful and good.
Which brings me to my number one thankful

#1
I am thankful
that my daughter had the wisdom and courage to postpone
her Wedding indefinitely.  Although,  this has been very hard
and disapppointing , it  truly was a very wise and courageous
choice on her part and we are very proud of her.

#2
I am thankful
that although this has been hard for both families,  good
things are happening inspite of it,  the Lord is at work,
as always, and we see his hand of blessings, even in this.

#3
I am thankful
for God's sovereign ways.  Last week everything I
tried to work on for the wedding fell apart,  I could
get nowhere and I was incredibly frustrated .  Now
I totally understand...............if I had been able to
I would have sent off three deposits which were non
refundable,  and I would have signed a new contract
with the hotel which would have made for a much larger
sum of money.
God going before us once again.........................

#4
I am thankful
for the heart of this young man we will one day call son.........
He truly has a good heart!

#5
I am thankful
that Dee and I have been able to spend the week together,
it has been good to have her here,  and I hope comforting to her!

(My photo with posterized affect)

#6
I am thankful
for the love of God.  He loves us so much,  and
He loves us enough to allow us to experience hard
times in order to help us,  not to harm us as
Jeremiah 29:11 says.

#7
I am thankful
that some of my blogging friends missed me this
week,  and were so sweet to write me and ask
if all was okay.  Precious!!
Always nice to be Missed!

#8
I am thankful
for the gift of prayer....................
I have no idea what I would do without it!
What a miserable existence it would be not to be
able to pray,  but worse yet, not to have anyone
to pray to................

(Magazine photo with an affect)
#9
I am thankful
that a sweet friend from church, came thru her 2nd knee
replacement surgery in a month.  God Bless Her!!
and may she heal rapidly,  and do twice as good as
the last time!!

(magazine photo with an affect)

#10
I am thankful
for public servants like policemen, paramedics, Dr. and nurses,
Physicians asst.,  nurses aides, home healthcare workers,
and mental health professionals, counselors and Pastors.
For they help so many people!!
and if you are a public servant and I left you off the list
by accident,  know that I mean YOU too!!

#11
I am thankful
for Chocolate Elvis's, they are smoothies from planet
smoothie, particularly in these summer months,  cause they
cool you off so much,  and are just so refreshing,  a simple
pleasure for sure!!

They have frozen vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, bananas,
chocolate and ice as the ingredients........
and they are quite Yummy, I must add!!  lol

(my photo with a posterized affect)

#12
I am thankful
that as I looked across our yard this morning as I was
outside saying goodbye to hubby,  that our yard looks
so lush, green and beautiful after our mowing it last night!
God's rain has done a masterful job of resurrecting
it from a dry, parched, hard to keep moist, partially
green partially brown existence.  There are still some
areas that are filling in out back and in the side yard,
But to look at it this morning,  it was so pretty it just
sort of took my breathe away,  almost like a house
and garden picture in a magazine.

So Happy you came by to visit with
me today, and hope you have

 a
Fabulous Friday and a Wonderful Weekend
My Friends!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - July 7, 2011

Compliments of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, I think!

Great is the Lord,
and most worthy of praise.
Psalm 48:1

Good Evening Sweet Friends,

How has your Thursday been??
Very Good,  I hope!!

Mine has been good and busy,  that is for sure,
and rainy as well.  Just been working on wedding
stuff and reading a bit, and just got off the phone
with my daughter.

Am getting ready to prepare din din,  it is gonna
be fairly simple since hubby has a meeting at
church tonight.  Pulled pork Sandwiches and
a salad,  sounds good to me!!  lol

Since this has been 4th of July week, and I
have heard some good political type news,
I have to start off with
my #1 thankful being,

#1
I am thankful
to be a native Floridian and that I live not only
in Florida,  but in the Orlando area, and in the
United States,  all blessings beyond my control.

#2
I am thankful
for our new Govenor Rick Scott,  and for all
he is accomplishing with decreasing the jobless
rate, and also for his crackdown on prescription
drug abuse, and those who help feed the problem.

#3
I am thankful
that 2 christian men,  that were praying over their
food in a school cafeteria, in the Florida panhandle,
and that the ACLU brought up on charges, had
the courts rule in their favor.  Praise His Name!

#4
I am thankful
that I happened to get a local paper today and
saw that the County we live in has instituted
a dress code in all the schools in our County.
I am amazed...........it has needed to be so for
many, many years.  I remember seeing how
the kids dressed when I used to take my
daughter to school, it was appalling then, and
that was 10 yrs. ago, so I can't even imagine
what they dress like by now!

Compliments of lil ole me!  lol

#5
I am thankful
the Wedding plans are coming along well.
Had no idea just how involved this would be.
I am in process of reading contracts that must be
signed and making sure everything is listed that
is contracted for.........and praying I don't over
look or forget anything!!  If you feel so led
please pray for me that I don't overlook
or forget anything!!

#6
I am thankful
that DeeAnna's wedding gown came in early.
So that way if she needs to have it altered in
any way she has plenty of time.

#7
I am thankful
for email,  and all the neat things people send me, and
also for how quickly and easily I can communicate
something and get a response quickly as well.
Has been tremendously handy during this process
with Wedding details

#8
I am thankful
for a book called the "divorce decision",  that
someone told me about years ago,  and that
the Lord brought it to mind, so that I could buy it
and give it to a young lady who is about to make
a grave mistake.  My prayer is that she reads it!!

(Compliments of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, I think)

#9
I am thankful
for people who write books that can help other
people grow and learn and understand God and
his ways more, and bring encouragement to hurting
people, and lift them out of the depths of dispair
even.  What a great blessing that is to many!!

We are reading a lil devotional book daily that
a friend graced us with called "Jesus Calling",
by Sarah Young.  I think I may have mentioned
it before, but it is just the neatest lil book,  it is
all written as if God were talking directly to you,
with scriptures at the bottom that back up
what is being paraphrased, it really speaks
to us, I have to say,  so we just love and enjoy
 it so much!!

#10
I am thankful
that we are getting rain again,  we didn't get
any over the holiday weekend,  which was
nice,  but since Florida is still in a draught
season,  it is a huge blessings.

#10
I am thankful
we were able to get our yard mowed last night,
especially since it is raining now...........

#11
I am thankful
that hubby was able to have a good conversation
with his boss today (who lives in another state) and
 get some clear instruction.
He has been a bit dismayed as he has been having
difficulty trying to get clarity, so think that made his
day for sure.

#12
I am thankful
that my bougainvilla that the deer or whatever
was eating is blooming again,  we had to move
it to an new location awhile but it came back
really well,  and looking very pretty again!!
 yea!!

Well,  that is my Thankful wrap-up!

Thanks for stopping in................
it is always great to hear from you.

Love,  Hugs,
and Blessings for a great Friday,
and weekend.

Tablescape Thursday - Casual 4th of July table

Happy Wednesday to you
Sweet Friends,

Hope this day find you well and
content in your circumstances....
whatever they might be!

This wedding stuff is really occupying quite a lot of my
time these days, so it is easier for me to just down
load pictures and say a few things,  so decided to
show you our CASUAL 4th of July table.

Summers around here means easy and laid back,
and Fun!!! It has been that way since my children
were little. Not as much cleaning,  not as much
fuss........cause I just wanted to enjoy my children
while they were home with no schedules to keep.

We highly enjoyed our summers!  Have to say
I miss those days sometimes.

But we still have days that are the same, and
our 4th of July table represented one of those days,
as you will see!  We had all the traditional foods,
hamburgers, hotdogs, salads and strawberry
shortcake cake!  All delicious,  and a very nice
time had by all.............

I believe you can have a pretty table no matter what!

Even using plastic or paperware.  That is our casual look!

Found this cute lil bucket at Target for $1.00
and bought 2 packs of  flags for $1.00 each
and I was good to go for the centerpiece.
I had some clear glass stones I put in there
and then you could pretty much do whatever
you wanted with the flags.

Thought I would just press extra napkins
into place by surrounding the lil bucket,
added a lot of nice color.

Candy of course.........................
love these lil tiny dishes,  they come in so handy
for all sorts of things!

as do the egg cups!
Couldn't believe I got big bags of M& M's
buy one get one free at Publix,  and I could
hardly find any blue,  and out of 2 bags only
7 red ones,  fourtunately,  just enough to put
one red on top!!

These are my candle jar lids turned upside down
as candle holders,  added the lil stars around
the edges to make them more festive.

This is one of the photoshop affects!
Think this is posterized affect,  one of my favs.

Guess what the red under the candle is???

A posterized affect

The red under the candle is candy sprinkles
you use for cookies,  they have been in my
cabinet for years...............so thought it was
a great way to get rid of them!!  lol
and liven things up a bit at the same time.

These are solo plates and they look royal blue until you take
them apart, so they weren't quite as colorful as I thought they
would be,  but with the napkin on them they actually looked
quite nice.

I really love these mylar stars,  they make everything
look quite festive!  and you can save them and use
them over and over again for all sorts of cool things.

Notice the 1 red star that looks a lil 3 dimensional,
well,  Scott was playing at our Chritmas table and
put lil folds in it to make it stand out more,  so I kept it,
(after all,  I have been saving his art work for years, lol)
and for grins put it at his place to see if he would notice,
but Megan wound up sitting there instead,  but as
we were cleaning up,  I said something about it,  and
he laughed and then took 2 more and made a flower out
of it,  then asked for a straight pin to make the center,
Very Cute,  until I tried to pin in on Megans
shirt and stuck her with the pin,  poor thing!

This has a Crosshatch affect

This has a cut out affect

 Posterized affect!

Gotta have some candle light even if it is still
daylight out!

 Paint daubs affect!

Posterized affect!

Hope you enjoyed your visit with me!

Thanks so much for coming by,
love hearing from you.

I am linking up to Susan over at
 between naps on the porch,
if you want to see all the
wonderful tablescapes they
 have click here.

See ya tomorrow!

Love,  Hugs, and
Red White and Blue Blessings............

Happy 4th of July

Happy Independence Day
 Everyone!!

I am so grateful to God for all He has
done for this nation........and especially
for inspiring our founding Father's to
come here, and to start this great nation.
If everyone followed in their footsteps
America would not be in the place
we are right now.

That reminds me of a quote I have
heard many times, that was quoted
by President Dwight D. Eisenhower,
as coming from some philosopher
that visited America.

"America is great, because she is good.
If America ever ceases to be good,
America will cease to be great!"

That kind of goodness only comes
from God!

Something to think about!!

Hope you have a wonderful
celebration with family and/or friends.

Blessings Galore,
Nellie
