First Christmas Season tablescape - for Megan's Birthday

Morning Sweet Friends,

Hope all is well with you and yours!

Most everything is well here accept I am gonna be
back at the Chiropractor today,  having trouble sitting
again..............but my dentist appt. went well,  was there
for over 3 hours,  and then I met hubby a lil while after
and we did the rest of our Christmas shopping,  and
then went to Red Lobster for dinner,  so we had a fun
evening and got home late,  I woke up thinking it was
Sat. morning for some crazy reason,  guess cause we
stayed out late!!  lol

Thought I would join White Wednesday today with my
friend Becky,   and show you my first Christmasy
table............which was a birthday table for Megan.
Guess you can really call this a vintage table,  as
these are all my Wedding silver, crystal and dishes.
Yep,  they are 42 years + now!!
Have to say... I still love it even after all these years.

Overview from head of table.
Our new lights made the white in the plates
looked more of a warm white than the bright
white they really are.  Not so sure I like that!

OOPS - didn't notice the bowl was not on their evenly!!  lol
and had to add some candy,  Andes Mints, perfect color
 for Christmas

The silver tray (a gift from a friend) is not really vintage
it just looks vintage!!
Amazing what a few goblets with a snow look
(using epsom salts) and candles, and some Christmas
balls drizzled with a lil  salts snow can do!!

posterized affect!

Just in case some of you tableware lovers
want to know, because inquiring minds
want to know ................lol

Dishes - Roberta by Deluxe
silverware - Scandanavia by Oneida
Crystal - Glamour by Fostoria

My napkin rings came from a floral arrangement that
hubby sent me some years back.  The vase was a cyclinder
with 4 sterling silver napkin rings stacked on it,  and he was
really thinking ahead and had them send an extra
vase/napkin rings with it!   Hubby is a sharp cookie!!

These Christmas balls are not vintage either,  but they
were made to look vintage quite by accident.  I bought
them to use in an arrangement I did many years back,
where I floated some gold stars, candles and Christmas
balls.  It was really lovely, in fact, I don't know whatever
happened to those stars, now that I think about it!!  lol

Anyway, after floating the Christmas balls in the water,
for weeks, it changed their appearance, and made them
look old and sort of tarnished looking.

Cut out affect

I like having the separate lil salt and pepper
shakers, and I usually put 4 small dishes
or egg cups with butter on each corner of
the table.  Cuts down on passing things
during dinner, which can interrupt good
 conversations.

Also, we usually serve buffet style as well
for the same reason.

colored pencil affect,
like this soft look.........................

Pic without flash and lights on

With lights off

Well,  hope you enjoyed your visit,

The start of the baby Nursery

Morning Sweet Friends,

How are ya???  Doing well I hope.
Getting all that shopping and
decorating done??

I am about done with both,  thank heavens!!
Woke up this morning thinking today is the 11th,
followed by oh my gosh........Christmas is only
10 days away, and I have to do this and this
and I began to feel panic for the first time of
the season,  but I nipped it in the bud with
this thought..............have you ever not been
ready for Christmas........and I have to say
a bit fat NO,  thanks to  the Lord!!
That sense of stress or panic only slows
us down really.  like the old saying goes
the hurrieder I go,  the behinder I get,
I really think that is true..................lol

Anyway,  will show you what we did on
Friday night,  some of you have probably
already guessed....................we went to
Scott and Megan's and put the baby crib
together then put all the cute linens on.
It is adorable as you will see below.

This is the room color,  and Scott did the nice
chair rail as well.  Love the color scheme.

This is the head of the bed,  and that is a lil butterfly comfort
blanky laying there on the sheets,  and you can see part
of the bumper pads.

Here is the other end of the bumper pads. Each square is
different but coordinated.

Nice close up of the pretty quilted butterfly from the
 comforter

Comforter laying in the bed.

The whole crib set up.  It is one of those 4 in one cribs,
will make into a toddler, junior and adult bed.  Very cool!
Meant to take a pic before we dressed it,  but forgot
as usual.  Anyway,  think it turned out great,  and so
do Megan and Scott.

Gotta run, have a dental appointment,  another crown
and then I get a crown insertion as well.  Last appt.
this year.............Halleleujah!

Course, I have to say since we have our new dentist
and she is very much into pain free dentistry, I have
to say I am not dreading it,  not looking forward to
the work,  but great not to be dreading it either.
The staff are all wonderful,  caring, accomodating
and sweet as can be.  So always nice to see them.

Have a Wonderful Day

Hugs n'
Merry Christmas Blessings

Nellie

Happy Monday, lovely Christmas Video and weekend recap

Happy Monday Sweet Friends,

Hope you had a fun and productive weekend!

Ours was both.  Friday we went to Scott
and Megans' for pizza, and tomorrow I
will show you what we did while we
were there.

 Then Sat. hubby
finished up the tree after we located
some more lights, Couldn't believe
Wally World was out of them,  but
We found them at Ace Hardware, of all
places...which was close by, thankfully.
Got the mantle and fireplace all finished
and the top of my hutches done, so
just gotta do a lil decorating on the tree
today and throw some snow on, then pack
all the leftovers up till January,and hope-
fully the decorating is done!  and I will
be very happy about that.

Saturday night we went to Dee and
Jerry's and got take out barbecue, from
a new restaurant they recently discovered,
played some skipbo and hubby and Jerry
put in a dimmer switch for their dining
room light, while Dee and I took a short
stroll in her neighborhood.  Couldn't
believe we actually saw 4 mangers
scenes in such a short stroll, but so
nice to see, and they had lots of
pretty decorations. It was also fun
to see both of the kids homes all
decorated for Christmas..........

Sunday was our usual day of church and
yomii yogurt, and a nap and Sunday night
 was our churches children's Christmas
Pageant. It was really wonderful, I have
to say. They sounded like lil angels!
and it was a really delightful experience.
what the season is all about.........

I rec'd this lovely link to a video of
a flash mob in a mall, singing!
It was a delight to my heart and
think it will be to your's too!

to enjoy it!!  Truly what the season
is all about!

Well,  Have a Sweet Day!

Look forward to hearing
from you!

Hugs and
Merry Christmas Blessings,
Nellie

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - December 6, 2012

We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord,
even as we put our hope in you.
Psalm 33: 20-22

Greetings Sweet Peas,

How has your week been going??
Going well I hope!!

Mine is going well.........still trying to finish up
the Christmas decorating, but we opted for some
 fun instead!! lol
We also managed to get a Christmas movie in this
week too,  so that was fun......... it was called
"All I want for Christmas", I think,  it was actually
quite a cute movie.

Will tell you about the rest thru my post.

#1
I am thankful
for this lovely and sweet gift (header picture)
we rec'd from our sweet and respectful
neighbors next door. They are a young couple with
2 adorable children.  We are so thankful for them.
They are a great asset to the neighborhood.

#2
I am thankful
for the  emergent meow's of our kitty to go out,
on Tuesday morning, as we were under a boil water
alert from the water Co., and I had put a pot of
water on the stove to boil for hubby's coffee in
the morning and was so tired I forgot all about
it, and went to bed, and woke up to her cries at
5:30, still dark here at that time, so I could easily
see the stove burner in the dark, blazing red hot,
nearly had a heart attack but was so thankful for
Molly's cries. The Lord can use anything or anyone
even animals. The pot was of course, empty, so
no telling what could have happened, but I would
think a fire could have been possible, and it was
silverstone so don't know if it puts off toxic fumes
or not, but did have to throw it out,  as it dissolved
some of the silverstone,  but there was no bad
smell,  so have a feeling it was caught just in time.
 God is so good.
I remember a story in the bible where God used a
donkey to speak to a man, so he could sure use
 a kitty as well.............

#3

I am thankful
that the person we have been helping has gotten
some sense of relief from her situation by retaining
an attorney, and has also given us peace of mind
for her as well.

#4

I am thankful
we are able to gift the kids with a crib for
our new baby grandaugher to come.  My dad
did that for us,  and we really loved it and
appreciated it so much, and means a lot to
us to be able to do that for our kids as well.
Plus there are 2 other sets of grandparents
that probably would have enjoyed that too,
but they were very sweet and gracious to
allow us to do this since this is our first
grand child. The crib arrived yesterday, so
can't wait to see it up,  and the new freshly
painted room.  It is lilac and green with white
trim. so this white crib is gonna look so nice
in there, of course, that was their plan.

Same plant, just with the sun shining on it.

#5

I am thankful
for all of the Christmas decorating we have
gotten done so far.  Still need to work on
the tree and mantle, did get part of it done
yesterday,  but we had an appt. at 4:30 so,
we figured we were dressed and out we might
as well make a night of it, plus I had a number
of things I needed to take back,  so we did that
and

#6

I am thankful
for what a fun evening we had, and din din
at Cracker Barrel.  It was well needed.

#7

I am thankful
to be out from under the boil water restriction
finally,  we got the all clear this morning, and
it has been since Monday.  Not so much that
boiling the water is bad,  it is that you for-
get it needs to be boiled and caught myself
a few times using a lil before I caught it,
and then made me wonder if I had used it
and not thought about it........but we are
still alive so guess that is a good sign!!  lol

#8

I am thankful
that hubby was able to work at home both
Wed. and Thursday this week.  It was nice
to be able to get him to do some things that
I can't like pick up stuff I drop on the floor or
get clothes out of the dryer when he takes
a break for coffee or lunch, so I could con-
tinue on,  and not have to wait for him to
get home..............so that was a blessing,
and it is always nice having him home.

#9

I am thankful
that we got a reimbursement check in the
mail today for our old car tag.  We applied
for it but didn't know if we would get it or
not, or some or none.  We got it all,  so
that was great,  and it came within 2 weeks
they said to be prepared for a 6-8 week wait.
So what a nice surprise and blessing.

#10

I am thankful
that I am feeling better every day, not
quite there yet, but coming along..........
feeling like there is light at the end of this
tunnel.............lol

#11

I am thankful
that our kitty seems to be gaining some
weight,  as we were told a while back that
she might have thyroid problems.  Hubby
did some research online and found out
cats were getting that from iodine in their
food............iodine comes from fish, so
we have been only feeding her chicken
and beef, so seems to be helping!!

#12

I am thankful
that I heard this week from an adorable
young bloggy friend that I haven't heard
from in awhile,  and she is doing well,
in fact,  she and her hubby are expecting,
a baby too, just a month after
 Scott and Megan.

The sun was so bright it just washed all the color out,
but still a pretty picture I think.

#13

I am thankful
that I got to talk with my cousin this week,  she
just had her 70th birthday a few weeks ago and
I tried to call her a few times and had no luck,
so I emailed and had no luck..........so was glad
she is doing fine,  and that she had a nice
 birthday spent with her brother.

Well,  that's all folks,
 as Porky Would say!!  lol

Hope you are continuing to enjoy
this most Wonderful Season of All

Always good to hear from you.

Love, Hugs,
and Red Poinsettia Blessings,
Nellie

A fun short story - Hilarious

Picture compliments of

 http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/

Howdy Sweet Friends,
How ya been lately??
I have been fine, slowly getting there,
still working on my Christmas decorating.
Was gonna do the tree last night but hubby
was too pooped, so maybe tonight..........

Just got this story from a friend via email and
just had to share it with you. So... if you are
in need of a laugh, this will do it for you.
I am still laughin' every time I think about it.

Subject: Lipstick in a Catholic School

> Lipstick in Catholic School
> (You have to love this principal)
> According to a news report, a certain private Catholic school was
> recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls
> were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom.
> That was fine provided it was of a natural or neutral skin tone, but
> after they put on their lipstick, they would press their lips to the
> mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints. Every night the
> maintenance man would remove them; and the next day the girls
> would put them back.
> Finally, the principal, Sister Mary, decided that something had to be done.
She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them
> there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip
> prints were causing a major problem for the custodian, who had
> to clean the mirrors every night (you can just imagine the yawns
> from the little princesses).
> To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors,
> Sister Mary asked the maintenance man to show the girls how
> much effort was required.
> He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and
> cleaned the mirror with it.
> Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
> There are teachers...... And then there are educators!

  Are you still laughing.......................

Hope this put a smile on
 your face for the day,

Making your normal Pictures look christmasy -an easy fix tutorial

Season's Greetings Sweet Friends,

Can't believe we are already into Decemeber.....
boy, that week after Thanksgiving just flew by....
for me anyway!!   lol
How about you??

How are you doing??  Are you
running behind, ahead of schedule
or right on track???

I am so happy to say we caught up a lot over the
weekend.  So helpful having hubby home as it
is difficult to get a lot done when you are not
suppose to bend over and stoop down.  lol
and all of a sudden It seems like I drop every-
thing I pick up, which is not the typical norm ......
Just gotta keep a sense of humor,  cause I am
determined not to be drug to the pit over this
back thing.

We were able to at least get the family and
dining room pretty much done and make it
homey enough for Megan's birthday celebration
on sunday.  So was very happy about that.
We all enjoyed it, as always.

Still gotta get our tree up, and lights outside,
hubby is on the ladder out there as I type.
I am taking a short break.  I have been work-
ing in the white living room,  and the guest
bath,  so am about done with both,  and
then have some finishing touches in the
family room,  probably mostly the tree,
Ohhhh. and gotta figure out something to do
with the mantle yet, forgot about that!!  lol

Well, was christmasizing my pictures today,
and thought hey, maybe I should do a tutororial
for yall.  It is very easy and I do it on smaller
pictures.

1. Decide what picture you would like to change,
find a pretty christmas card you would like to use.

2. Choose a background paper,  this was actually
printed paper that I happened to have,  but you could
use any cardstock or scrapbooking paper, or even
wrapping paper, I would think.

3. Flip your paper over and roll up a piece of masking tape
so it stick together, (like double stick tape) then stick it to
the back of the paper, I just did one pc. at the top since the
paper was thin, didn't want it to show up a lot,
but you can put the tape wherever you want, might need
to be on both ends,  if so I will find out later!!  lol

4. Center the paper and then stick it right on the glass.

5. Now take your pretty card or whatever pic you would like
to use and flip it over.............

and put a lil larger pc. of masking tape on the back of it.
and make sure you get it centered, then stick it to your
background paper or stock

6. Enjoy the new picture you have!

FYI:  I find the tape usually holds everything  fine........
since it is only up for a month or so,  and it pulls
right off with no mess or stress!

7. Put it where you want it ...............and decorate to
enhance it.......................

Here it is in it's place,  in our white living room.

Optional..................
You can roll up some scotch tape and put it inside the card too,
if you need the card to lay down or close (if it is a side opeing
card).  This one folds from the top down,  so didn't use any,
since I just got it in the mail yesterday!!  lol

Aren't they adorable lil angels......................

I did this one today too!

This went on our breakfront in the same room.
Had another picture there, so left it to cover a nail hole
and just leaned the new one against it, then decorated
the rest of the shelf.

I am doing a lil bit of a vintage look in here,  it all started
with Megan's table centerpiece.  Will show you the table
later this week or next week, lord willing!!  and some
peeks of the living room soon....................

Front view

Have had this lil dove since 1976,  it is an Avon
ornament made out of  real silver, guess it would sure
be considered vintage since it is 36 years old.

Thankful Thursday, September 4, 2025, And beautiful summer flowers

Praise be to the  Lord ,      for he showed me the wonders of his love Psalm 31:21 NIV Morning Sweet Friends, and Happy September to you all...
