Welcome to Thankful Tuesday - December 30, 2013

scenes from 2013

Give Thanks to the Lord Almighty,
for the Lord is good,
his love endures forever.
(Part of Jeremiah 33:11)

Hello Sweet Friends,

Hope you all have a Lovely and
Joyful Christmas...would love to
hear what you and your family did,
so leave a comment and tell me...

Our's really was wonderful, we all had such a great
time just being together and visiting,  course, had
some good food and gifts thrown in there as well.
Christmas really is our all time favorite holiday!

I am not changing the day for Thankful Thursday
just didn't get to post since Christmas.... cause I
got really sick with a  wicked virus the day after
Christmas,  and am just getting over it still.....but
wanted to say hello and see how yall are............so
figured I would just do my Thankful Thursday post
late early!!  lol  just a combo of last week and this
week,  since not much was going on but sickness,
sleeping and resting between Thurs & Monday! lol

Also wanted to wish you all....
 a Joyous, Loving, and
Hopeful New Year!

Will sort of catch you up on life here with this
Thankful post.

#1
I am very thankful
for the Lovely Christmas that we had and that
we could all be together for Christmas once
again this year!  That just means everything
to us,  and then to have the addition of our new
lil granddaughter just added so much to the fun.
She did try to open some packages,  just not
quite there yet,  but she did give it a good try,
so hopefully,  by her first birthday in March
she will have it down pat.  lol

#2
I am thankful
that I was able to pre-plan and set aside all the
things I needed to set 5 tables from Mon thru
Christmas Day, and the plan worked perfectly.
Imagine that!!  lol   Some were paperware and
some were dishware,  but all came together well
and easy...............that was the plan.............. and
for once it worked...........God's grace!
He knew how tired I was.............

#3
I am thankful
Scott, Megan and Brooklyn were unexpectedly
able to be with us some on Christmas eve, which
was ininiated by Megan. We are very blessed to
have a daughter in love,  that loves and enjoys
our family so much and loves to be with us.
It was also nice that they were so helpful and
brought us subs for lunch, as Dee and I were in
the kitchen cooking all morning, a fun time
 for us tho.................

#4
I am thankful
for a new camera that hubby got me for Christmas
that was very unexpected.  Works very well,  or so
it seems........hubby has been trying it....can't wait
to feel totally back to normal and try it out myself.
Also thankful for the Cricket Cuddlebug embossing
machine and accessories that I got from my sweet
SIL for Christmas,  it will be a new and fun addition
for making my greetings cards hopefully, just have
to learn ways to incorporate it in my designs.
Of course, I am thankful for all the lovely cards
and  gifts I got they are always special to me.

#5
I am thankful
that Dee and Jerry made it here and back home
to Asheville, safe and sound and dodged the virus
bullet, and so did Megan, but Brooklyn, Jim, Scott,
Susan and myself all got it,  but amazing that the
symptoms were different for each of us, lucky me,
I seemed to get them all at different times, but we
were all pretty sick folks...............it has been a
long time since I have been that sick,  and it is
taking me quite awhile to recover. Justcan't think
of anything that appeals to me to eat really,  but tea
and pretzels or saltines, and today is day 5,  and we
are hoping to go see the Hobbit movie today and
go out to din din since hubby has been on vacay
but has been sick most of it, or preparing for
Christmas. So that would be really fun for him!

#6
I am so thankful
that we didn't get this virus until Christmas was over,
cause we would have definitely not had a fun day as
sick as we were......................so God is good!

#7
I am thankful
for all the rest we have gotten since Thursday,
not the way we would have expected to get it,
but we did get it....................so guess that is
what really matters..............lol

#8
I am thankful
that I lost 5 pds.,  course,  it is probably all water
weight............and again not the way you would
desire to lose it,  but it was exciting to see that
scale drop if even for a lil while.  lol.....as I haven't
been able to budge it much ...seems like since
hit my 60's.  Just got off the scales and it is slowly
going up and I really don't know why cause I really
haven't eaten much.  Crazy!

See our new tree.........it was au la naturelle,  but
I did throw some snow on it...........lol

#9
I am incredibly thankful
that the worst of our virus lasted about 8 hours, as
it  does enough damage in that short span of time,
so can't imagine having it longer.........oh my!!

#10
I am thankful
that my back did not hurt me the whole time I was
so sick.........cause I was able to lay in the recliner
flat on my back for 48 hours,  and that was only by
the grace of God,  for sure.........cause I can't do
that sometimes for even 8 hours........
So amazing!!

#11
I am thankful
that our bed felt like a piece of Heaven last night.
We changed the germy sheets and put the heavier
comforter on and I slept like a baby. It is amazing to
me how much better your bed feels and how good
food tastes after you have been sick like this.
Saltines and Pretzels, coke, sprite and ice pops....
oh my gosh.....they taste incredible, like the most
exquisite meal you've ever had..........lol
you are so thirsty,  you just want to chug a coke,
water or sprite,  course, you know better,  but you
sure want to.........just seems like all your senses
are heightened by it for some reason.
Another grace from God..........

#12
I am thankful
that we will be starting our new ministry to young
marrieds soon.  We are still working out some
issues,  but just about there. Some of these kids
(young adults) we have known their whole life, we
were friends with their parents, they were friends
with our kids, and we love them too death,  so it
should be a lot of fun too.  What a priviledge!

This post has been almost ready since early this
morning,  but I got to feeling bad again, and just didn't
feel like finishing it, then I went back to bed in the
afternoon,  and then Jimmy got me some pedialyte
tonight and after drinking that I started to feel a lil better,
then we had a nice but simple dinner, so I am feeling
considerably better,  so hoping it is just that I was still
dehydrated. Course, none of the plans we had happened
cause I just wasn't up to it, too weak and tired, so that
will have to be another time,  but we did watch a really
good movie at home, called "Storm Rider". A very very
 good movie, I might add.
Sure hope this is my last round with this virus...every
time I think I am done with it.......it seems to rear it's ugly
head again!     So I am drinking more pedialyte and
heading to beddie bye land.

Again Happy New Year to all of you Sweet Folks,
Hope 2014 will be a very Blessed year for you!

Love, Hugs,  and
Joyous New year Blessings,
Nellie

Scenes from cozy place 2013

Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17

Sweet Friends

Well,  only 5 more days.......
Hope you are coming along well
and getting everything ready for
this Most Special Day of the
year.......Jesus Birthday!

Well, gonna get on with my
list............talk to you next
week................

#1
 I am thankful
for the Wonderful Christmas presentation
our church did this year, and every year.
Am also thankful for all the folks that gave
of their time and energy practicing for months
to give our congregation this beautiful Christmas
gift to enjoy and bless us all!

#2
I am thankful
to for our Music Minister and our choir who
blesses us every single Sunday as well.  They
do an amazing job of leading Worship every
week,  such a blessing!

#3
I am thankful
that Dee, Jerry and Rosie will be here next
Mon. the 23rd and will be here until Christmas
day around 3 P.M.  We are all so looking for
forward to their arrival, and so happy they are
able to come, especially since this is their 1st
year away.  They will arrive on Sat. evening
the 21st, but will go to Jerry's folks first since
they haven't seen them since they left.

#4
I am thankful
that we are gonna get to keep Rosie (our furry
granddaughter dog) with us for the 5 1/2 days
 they will be here.....

#5
I am thankful
that all the gifts I ordered online have arrived
accept just one,  and think it will probably be
 here in the today.

#6
I am thankful
I finally finished my Christmas decorating on
Tuesday and finally got stuff put away on Wed.,
so nice to be able to enjoy it all now.  For some
reason I really had a hard time getting my Mojo on
with the decorating this year, so am doubly thank-
ful it is finally finished.  I was so over it,  I just
threw snow on our new tree and called it a year!

#7
I am thankful
that it looks like Dee might have another job
offer,  that would be even better than the
other one.  She had the interview today, and
it is only 2 days a week,  and very flexible for
when she want to come to Florida or if some
of us come there..................

#8
I am thankful
for the really fun day I had with Brooklyn on
Wed.,  altho she was not feeling all that well,
(she is cutting molars) she was just a riot today.
She was standing up and looking in our bedroom
closet door mirrors,  and really checking out the
other lil person in the mirror,  and gave her a
big kiss or two.  She was so tired that she was
laughing out loud at her Grammy's funny antics,
for about 10 minutes, and It just made me crack
up too, she usually looks at us like we are crazy.
Then later in the day cause she was so tired
and cranky I put on Christmas music and we
danced her around,  and she just had the cutest
lil smile and expression like she was enjoying
it so much..................

# 9
I am so thankful
for this lil bundle of Joy we call our lil darling,
she has brought so much joy to this household,
and was definitely the highlight of 2013 for us.
Grammy and Grampy love you so much Brooklyn.

Just had to add a few photos.............

Here I am with Aunt Susie at Thanksgiving

Here I am with Mommy helping me to walk.
I am wearing an outfit Grammy and Grampy
 got me in Asheville

and here I am playing with this neat busy
box type toy.  I can stand up to play now!
How fun is that!!

#10
I am thankful
for a nice surprise on Sat. evening from a couple
that has been in our Sunday School class all year.
It was all sorts of homemade Christmas goodies,
and boy were they good....notice I said
were good!
They are all gone.................lol
Ummmmmmmmmmm

#11
I am thankful
that an old neighbor and friend that used
to live on the corner from us but has lived out
in Idaho for years, surprised us by dropping by
to see us tonight unannounced.  It has been 21
years since we have seen her, but have talked
to her a few times on the phone and thru face-
book, but she has gone thru some pretty terrible
life altering things since we saw her last, but
so happy to see her and to she is doing so well,
cause God bless her, she has really been thru it.

#12
I am thankful
my sweet sister-in-law just dropped off
another cute lil snowman scene (this years
Hallmark one),  the one we have now that
Brooklyn likes was from her too,  and she
is gonna just love this one too.
so cute!  Thanks so much Susan,  just
loved it.............and you!

#13

Christmas in our White Living Room

Greetings Sweet Friends,

How are you coming along with
 your Christmas preparation??
 Almost there yet??

I should not even be doing this but just
need a reprieve from Christmas prep,
and this is fun, not mundane like making
grocery lists and stuff...........lol
Course, gotta do that too.........and will
once I have had a lil fun.............lol

Hubby is sick with a cold,  think it
caught up with him cause he worked
almost 24 hrs. on Tuesday.  They work
on banking software so they can't work
on it while the bank is using it, so they
have to do it after hours, but this was
a first time event, and hopefully, the
last.........lol

Haven't had a chance to download any
pictures from this Christmas... so decided
 today was the day..........

So here are some pictures from our
White Living room and foyer.

This is the first things you see when
you come in the door!

Then when you go left into the living
room you see this table with
family pictures. This is on one
end of the sofa.

This angel has been with us many
years, and she is standing underneath
 the above table.

Then you come to my cedar chest
coffee table,  Brooklyn is loving
this lil snowman.....he plays music
and rocks back and forth,  she is
mesmerized by him.

Love Thomas Kincaide's work,  and was so sorry
to hear he passed away this year.  Very Sad!

My beautiful candle I got last year after Christmas,
Am in love with it, can you see why on the table top.
Think it is so beautiful!  and it is even lit yet!

Took all these pics yesterday morning,
loved how the light was coming in,
and made all the shadows.

and here it is when it is actually lit up.  Course,
it is even more beautiful at night!

Decide to frill up my pillow a lil with a bow
and Christmas ball.............

Here is a glimpse of the most of the room.
Hopefully,  I will get to show you some more
 closeups next week.

This is on the other end of the sofa
not the best picture I must say!

Love this lil statue,  she reminds me
of a neice of mine that is all
grown up now.

a lovely nativity given to me by Scott.

 Another view

The follwing are all of the left side wall
that you can't see in this picture.

A Thomas Kincaide plate a friend gave to me.

Well, hope you enjoying your visit and
come again soon............

and this is the last thing you see when
you go out the door! Brooklyn discovered
them yesterday and just had a ball
 jingling them!
