Scripture Sunday - Envy

A heart at peace gives life to the body,
 but envy rots the bones.
Proverbs 14:30

This thing of envy and the futility of
it, was a point my Mother always drove
home to us as kids, and I am so glad
she did.....
Because envy keeps us from seeing our
own blessings...........and while we are
looking and envying someone else's life
or blessings, there is likely someone else
looking at us, and envying our life and
blessings. We can all have the temptation
to envy or be jealous of someone else...
but when we find ourselves there,  we need
to ask the Lord to forgive us and to help us,
to love our own lives, our own gifts and
talents, our own blessings, our own
 families,  friends, home, cars, clothes,
or whatever it is that is causing us
to envy...........and we will be a much
 happier and  more peaceful person.

Something
I learned from a friend who
was years older than me, before she
passed away from cancer many years
ago now, but that has served me well
not just in this area,  but in many
areas.....was this.......
She has been sidelined because of
the cancer and she and a friend use
to counsel people and help them,
and when she became sick, of course,
due to chemo and her sickness she
could no longer do what she was
doing before, but her friend carried
on as usual, with what she had always
done, and my friend, said she started
to become jealous but that the Lord put
it on her heart to start praying for the
 success of her friend....
so she prayed that her friend would
have great wisdom and would be able
to help a lot of people and that she
would stay in good health and every
good thing she could think of.........
and she said, you know what?
It took that jealousy right out of
my heart.  So praying good things
for those we envy or are jealous
of will surely help keep our hearts
where they need to be.

I think it would be pleasing to the
Lord for us all to learn to be happy
for others when good things are
happening for them, even when we
feel good things are not happening
to/or for us.....
Maybe your best friends got flowers
from her hubby for no reason but to
say He loved her......
rather than thinking or saying to the
person "I wish my husband would do
that.".....we should do our best to be
happy for them and enjoy the lovely
thing that is happening for them, and
to let them know we are happy for
them.....but, when we say " I wish my
husband  would do that," it was
like you just threw a glass of cold
water on them, and their joy can
be diminished by our envious
 response, and they might even
feel bad that they shared their
happy moment with you........
when all they wanted to do was
to share a joyful experience with
someone they love and they
 thought would  and should be
happy for them.That ought not
to be the case........

After all the bible tell us in
 Romans 12:15

Rejoice with those who rejoice;
mourn with those who mourn.
Romans 12:15

Sometimes I think we can be
really good at the mourning
part, but not so good at the
rejoicing part......but we need
to be good at both parts and
the Lord can surely help us
with that, if we are willing...

Hope this might be a help to
someone today, as these things
I have mentioned have certainly
helped me over the years.

Have a Blessed Sunday
Sweet Friends.....

  2. I have thoroughly enjoyed my prayer time in lifting up others for salvation, healing, church attending, the LORD's leading and His blessings on many. Now I find myself needing prayers for healing and continued blessings as I have had so many in the past. The LORD is faithful and I
hold on to Him with all my life. Love you all, Susan

  3. God is so very good to us, sometimes in this fast paced world is it easy to get caught up the rat race of things, but it is always so humbling and refreshing to settle back down in our Father's arms.
