Playing and Practicing with a bit of a Moroccan look

Hello Sweet Friends,

Hope your week is going well.

Mine has been a bit more productive
this week since I have been getting
more sleep.  Still experiencing an
energy shortage but guess it will take
awhile to get that Vit D in my system,
and hopefully that will help.

Oops forgot you don't know about
that yet..............
Guess I had better explain......
Went back to the Drs. on Friday for
the report from all my bloodwork
and sonograms.  Dr. said most of
my bloodwork was near perfect.....
but I did have a Vit. D deficiency,
and both sonograms showed no
problems other than I do have 1
kidney stone which he said I have
probably always had and will
probably never give me any
trouble  and sure hoping he is
right about that.....so Dr. was very
positive about everything so I left
very thankful for the good news
but a bit perplexed as to why I am
feeling so exhausted, but looked
up the symptoms of a Vit D de-
ficiency and that is one of the
symptoms So....guess we will see
what happens.....I am to take 3000
units of Vit D daily and they will do
another blood test in 3 months.

Since I have been in this exhausted
stupor I have had no creativity
pretty much.....course, I have been
thinking about what I want to do
for Fall,  but not ready to do any
thing, which is good, cause I don't
have the energy to do it anyway,
but Monday I just felt like I needed
to do something creative as it always
seems to be like theraphy for me. So
was thinking maybe I could just do
one simple placesetting or something.

So I remembered I have a table runner
that is sort of Moroccan looking that
I got when I was in Charleston in
 May.....

I loved the color combo and thought
it would look great white dishes and
my green place mats that I already have,
and they did match perfectly but they
are too big to use with the runner as it
just doesn't look all that great.....
and I have to use place mats cause
if I don't use a tablecloth, the tabletop
is mostly glass and scratches very
easily.  So sorta just did an easy faux
placesetting just for the fun of it and
to have something pretty to post.  lol
and I can always use the camera
 practice as well.

Anyway here are the results of my
playing...........

I layered a green napkin
 over a navy one.

Used my white corelle ware plates and
Borrowed the  bowl from our bedroom

Used my Wedding silverware, as it
seemed to need something ornate.

Love these lil Moroccan looking
 apetizer/bread plates.... since they
were similar colors decided to
throw them in the mix.  Got them
at Home Goods in Asheville.

Nice overview

Grabbed a pitcher of hydrangeas
from the guest bedroom

Used my blue everyday glasses,
and
This shot reminded me I needed
some candle light...........lol

So here it is with some
candle light.  Much better!!

grabbed the cookies from the kitchen,
and with all of those pieces came up
with this quick one place setting.
These are really so  much easier,
but typically I actually have a real
tablescape to share, but this was
fun.  I love the challenge of just
seeing what I can come up with
just by shopping my house.  lol

Well, hope you enjoyed my
playing and photography.......

Thanks for coming by......

Always nice to know
 you came..............

Have a lovely rest of the week.

and

Keep your light shining brightly!!

Love, Hugs and late
August Blessings,

Nellie

Thankful Thursday August 17, 2017, Golf cart tour #11

I will praise the LORD, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
Psalm 16:7

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope it has been a good week, especially
for those who sent their kiddles back
 to school.

It's been a good week here.....Went to
get lil darling from preschool yesterday,
for the first time....been a long time
since I got a kid from school, that is
for sure. She was quite happy to see
me too. When she saw me she yelled
 "Grammy" and came running......was
like a get out of jail free card!!  lol
Then came home and had lunch with
Grampy and played a short time and
she was falling asleep on mylap. She
is a child who needs a lot of sleep,
and they aren't letting them nap now,
so she was exhausted and went out the
minute her head hit the pillow.
Unfortunately for me, Scott came to
get her early so she woke up but was
still out of it and then went home, so
hope it want be that way next week.

Pictures today are from, I bet you
guessed it,  our Spring golf cart
tour of Charleston. S.C.  lol
So on with it..............

I am thankful

#1
that my 2nd sonogram went really
well.  We got there way earlier as
hubby went a different direction than
I go, so we were 50 mins. early, and
they took me in pretty quick and I was
done by the time I was suppose to be
 starting....so that was nice.

#2
for a nice lunch at Cracker Barrel
after and some fun shopping at Ross,
Home Goods and Fresh Market.

#3
for a wonderfully fragrant candle
we found at Home Goods for Fall.
It smells like citrus,  but mostly
like oranges......yummy!

#4
for finding some Shashima Tuna
steak on sale at Fresh Market.
I put them in a marinade of olive
oil and lime juice and sprinkled
them with Lawry's seasoned salt
and granulated garlic,  and hubby
grilled them.  They were really
delicious........with rainbow carrots
and green bean casserole.

#5
for my Mother.  Yesterday would
have been her 90th Birthday.  She
has been in heaven with Jesus for
12 years now.   My Mom taught
me many many great things!

#6
for my Daughter, her birthday
is Today! and we will sure miss
being with her, but will be seeing
her soon..........Lord willing!!
She and I spent lots of time
gabbing today,  and she spent
some time with a new friend,
and then her hubby was taking
her out for din din.......to a new
place that someone told him
about.  So sounds like she is
having a special birthday suited
for a special girl.........

#7
for melatonin....I decided to try
it for sleeping and I have had 4
good nights of sleep.  Beats the
sleeping pills my Dr. wanted me
to take..........no thank you!! lol

#8
for having some breeze as I sat
in the sun, very hot,  but much
more bearable when it is breezy.

#9
that lil darlings Mom and Dad
decided to change her school
schedule to have her go only till
11:30 every day, so think that
was a great decision, since she
is already transistioning from
2 days to 5 days.  Happy that it
will also give us more time with
her if she does need a nap.

#10
thankful that T-mobile now gives
senior rates.  We just got $37. a
month off our bill......whoo hoo!!
Go T-mobile.....we have had them
for years and they have given us
very good service,  and I get no
sort of payment or perks for saying
any of that,  it is just the truth!!

#11
that I got a box of pictures and stuff in
the mail from my Mom's house, it has
been rather interesting the emotional
impact it has had on me.  I have been
very weepy at times for a number of
reasons that I know and for some
I don't...........lol

#12
that my Drs. appt is finally tomorrow,
so maybe they can figure out what is
up with me lately.

Well, there you have it another week
at Cozy Place.

Thanks for coming by.................

Hope you have a lovely Friday
 and Weekend
with those you hold dear.

Love, Hugs and
Mid August and back to school
 Blessings,

Nellie

part 5 of creating a new look by changing colors and decluttering...

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,

So how are you today??
Bet many of you are getting back on schedule
 and happy about it too!
I really hated sending my children back to
school, but at the same time I longed for some
structure to my day.....as we did not accomplish
a whole lot around her in the summer.....we were
for the Lazy Days of Summer,  for sure!!
So after all that time of fun and relaxation I
was raring to go.......and to see something
accomplished.........lol  Can anyone relate
to that??

Last time in part 4, I left off with adding
the lamp and decorating the walls. So in
todays segment of our office changes I
will show you a few small areas I haven't
shown you yet and the whole office, so
grab some sweet tea or lemonaide as
this is gonna be long,  as I am trying
to finish this series today........lol

Below is one of  the areas I haven't
shown you yet.
This is the shelves right by the door
were we enter the room.

It is actually a shelf  that goes on top of
my desk for the computer screen,  but it
made the computer screen too high so I
didn't like it there, so I turned it vertically
and made it into a shelf for this narrow
wall.  This was how I styled it when I
first did the redo,  but you know we
are always tweaking........

So this is how they look now.

Thought it needed something
coral over there too. I am really
loving the coral colors in here.
I might tweak it again cause
think there is too much coral
on one shelf......lol

Here is a close up of another one of our
French pictures....and close ups of all
the shelves.

Every room needs some flowers, candles,
and memorabilia.....
here is my new peach bellini candle........
it really smells heavenly, and love the
coral flowers and my lil eifel towers.

a pot of lavendar is very french too,

and here is a pretty storage box
with a lovely fleurist Shoppe.

Now I'm gonna show you the whole
room all done and tweaked....at least
for now............lol
The above picture is what we see when
we enter our office.

I did tweak this area a bit since you
saw it last.  I added some peachy coral
flowers and took the white ones out,
and put some lavendar on top of the
white shelves.  I did have the floral
arrangement that was on the first
 shelves there before.

and here is my desk where I do all my
blogging and cardmaking.

Well Hello there......Surprise!!
Decided to show up for the tour too!
How are ya???

Love my desk.... because it has a pull out
shelf for when I am using my keyboard,
and when done I just push it under and
it is out of the way.

Then I have a lovely view of our backyard
out of the window.  Nice sunny day when
this pic was taken.............

One thing I haven't done yet is my chair.
I covered it with a towel because it is a
microfiber type fabric and everything
sticks to it and we can not get it all off
no matter what we do, so just covered
it with the towel and also hubby took
the arms off the chair so lil darling can
still sit on my lap and look at ecards....
we have so much fun doing that and
singing songs together........
Eventually I will probably cover it
but just haven't figured out what I want
to do with it yet..........and I am open
to suggestions....if you have any!!

This is just to the left of my
desk and this was the other wall
words I put up....sorry it is blurry,
I was too tired to do a retake,
and was trying to show you
where it was in the room....

Here's a much better shot...........
I really like it there.....

Here is the futon and with the coverlet
hanging down it completely hids hubbies
 lap top until needed.
Love that! Cause it used to just be on
 the futon all the time.
Makes the room Look so
 much neater now.

Know yall have already seen a most of these
pictures but just giving you a complete
picture of the room and a refresh since
it has been awhile on some of them.

You haven't seen this before....we have
mirror closet doors as this used to be
a bedroom for our kiddles years back...
Lil darling likes to use it as her dance
studio........lol

Now we are one the way out
 the door......

Hope you enjoyed the office tour,
and hope you might have gleaned
some ideas or inspiration along
the way.  I thank the Lord for his
help and great ideas in all of this....
as I think it is such a bright and
happy room now... and if you are
 interested in reading about that
just click here  for part one..........

Also if you missed part 4 and
would like to see it,

Have a great rest of the week and
keep your light shining brightly.

Love, Hugs and
Mid August Blessings,

Nellie

Can not believe it is August 15th
already...........amazing!!

Thankful Thursday August 10, 2017, Spring golf cart tour #10

For God is the King of all the earth;
sing to him a psalm of praise.
Psalm 47:7 NIV

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you doing well
and full of energy and excitement.
Know a lot of you will be sending
your kiddles back to school this
coming week, so hope you are
having your last hoo-ray before
school starts.....

Lil darling wil be doing more
half days at preschool this coming
week, so I will be picking her up
on Wednesday's now.  Hoping
she want be too tired when I pick
her up............

For a while now I have just been
feeling very tired, and just thought
maybe I was trying to fight some-
thing off, but it just seemed to be
getting worse and lasting too long,
so finally made a Dr. appt. for last
Friday..........so hopefully by next
Friday I will have some answers.

Well, on with thankful
Thursday....pics are still from
my Spring golf cart tour of
Charleston. S.C. ...Can you
believe it...........lol
If you missed #9 and would
like to see it,  just click here.

I am thankful

#1
for a fun afternoon out shopping by
myself after my Drs. visit, and a fun
evening shopping and going to
 dinner with my hubby.

#2
for 2 fun new food discoveries
at LongHorns Steak house.  I got
their shrimp sans some tomato type
marinade, and it was really great,
and hubby got their Tilapia with
Shrimp on top and he loved it too.
We always wind up getting steaks
there,  so that was a nice change.

#3
for being able to sleep later on
Saturday morning, which is totally
unusual for me, and then a nice day
 just enjoying each others company
with a good breakfast and fun
conversation

#4
that I got out early on Monday
 and got my bloodwork done
and over with............required
from my Drs. visit on Friday.

#5
that I made it thru an ultrasound on
Tuesday where I was in pain from
having such a full bladder (and if you
have never had an ultrasound or sono-
gram, they make you drink a lot of
water beforehand as the water helps
them see things better, so it is hard
to hold it, then once she started to
do the sonogram I was in pain almost
immediately because my bladder
evidently refluxed  into my kidneys.
which felt like someone stabbing me
so it was instant back pain in the kidney
area......I could hardly stand it, and was
very happy and thankful when it was over,
even tho my back was still hurting for
awhile afterwards. I have had a number
of sonograms over the years, but never
 experienced anything like this before,
and definitely would not like to have
a repeat!   lol

#6
that I got quick and  good results back
from the ultrasound on Tuesday after-
noon, always a relief to get back good
results from any medical tests.

#7
for the Fall issue of Magnolia Home,
had time to read most of it as I was
convalescing on the couch after my
ultrasound ordeal........This issue is
focused on being Thankful.  Love
these magazines....they were a great
Christmas gift from hubby...........
and the only magazine I usually read
cover to cover........

#8
that when my Magnolia home magazine
came in the mail, it reminded me that I had
gotten a Fall Cottage Journal magazine
when we were at SAMS last week.....and
then was thinking where is it, and asked
hubby if he remembered seeing it, so we
looked in the car and it wasn't in the car,
and I then realized we left it in the top
part of our basket when leaving Sams,
so decided to just call and see if anyone
turned it in....and they said I could just
come and get another copy.  So have
been enjoying it too.

#9
that Yvonne over at Stone Gables
was featured in the Fall Cottage
Journal.......how exciting for her
and all of those that read her blog.
They had a page in the front of
the magazine that didn't say any
source at all.......but I thought I
recognized it as part of Yvonnes
dining room,  and I was right.
Great photo shoot......what a
well deserved honor!!

#10
that lil darling just started to get
excited about coloring,  she has
never really wanted to do that
with me, at least, so last week I just
decided to get the regular crayons
rather than the fat ones, and just
started coloring and she followed
suit, just as I had hoped she would,
and she is already coloring within
 the lines, a great improvement
from last week, which will help her
when she starts writing her ABC's.
I never used fat crayons or pencils
with my own children, but I made
the mistake of listening to others
about that with lil darling and I
honestly think it hindered her
more than helped her, as I was
amazed at how much more con-
trol she had with the new
skinnier crayons.  Amazing!

#11
for Chicken Cacciatore. I made
some on Tuesday and it was great.
I haven't made that in almost 40
yrs.  Why?? I do not know!!  lol
There was an Italian restaurant here
in town that made it and I got it there
a few times and it reminded me that I
used to make it, and wondered how I
ever got out of the habit.
So that restaurant stopped making it
to my dismay, so decided to make
my own easy recipe, using rotisserie
chicken, and it came out pretty
good, if I do say so myself.  lol
A nice blast from the past!!

#12
that I have an abdominal sono-
gram on Saturday that will check
out many organs, so maybe they
will be able to figure out why I
am feeling so exhausted and
bloated lately. Just hoping this
 sonogram is nothing like the
 last one!!  lol
This time it is fasting,  no food
or drink, not even water, and it
isn't until noon.....so if you feel
so led,  please say a prayer I do
fine until it is over and also that
the results are good......
Thanks 😊

Well.....this has been our week at
Cozy Place.......

Happy that you came by today,
and hope you will share something
you are thankful for with us.

Hope you have a Great
 Back to School Weekend............

Hugs and Blessings,
Nellie
