Welcome to Thankful Thursday - June 28, 2012

Picture from last summer

Helloooo  Sweet Peas,

Hope your day and
your week is going well!

I am having a good day myself, enjoying
the fact,  that the storm has left Florida
and dissipated completely, and our weather
is sunny with blue skies and not a cloud in
sight............amazing the difference since
yesterday!

Just putzing around and doing my usual
routine, not much happening here, so
will get on with Thankful Thursday....

#1
I am thankful
for a really fun day out shopping by myself on
Tuesday,  found a few cute things that looked
coastal,  and something else that was very
unexpected.

#2
I am thankful
for a bench that I found..........  I have been
wanting a bench to go with my kitchen table
for a long time, but had given up as they were
either too big or way to expensive.  Tuesday
I just happened on one at Home Goods,  and it
was smaller and a great price, so I put my gift
card towards it and paid the rest,  and hauled
it home.  I love it!  but it does make the table
stick out more, so I am trying it out for a few days
to make sure I am gonna like it....................
so far, so good!

#3
I am thankful
that our neighbor had our lawn done again,
another unexpected gift,  which was great, as it
gave us some time to go do some trimming and
stuff that needed to be done too.  So the yard
looks even better now,  and I am so thankful
for this sweet neighbor,  he really is a jewel.

#4
I am thankful
that Scott and Megan have found a home
that they both are in love with and it is in
our town,  and now we are in the waiting
mode to see if their offer will be accepted.
Somehow I think it will be.........

#5
I am thankful
that we got to spend some time this evening
with some new neighbors who are a young couple
with a toddler and fairly new baby,  very sweet kids,
and they gave us a tour of their home,  they have
really been doing a lot of work over there and it looks
great...............and they did it all themselves.

#6
I am thankful
that I finally finished decorating the house in a
coastal decor for a nice summery change, and
I am savoring  it everytime I walk thru the house,
and think hubby is really enjoying it too.

#7
I am thankful
that a former blog friend that I hadn't heard from
in awhile has visited several times, it was so great
to hear from her, as she is a very sweet lady.
(an Donnie that would be you!!  lol)

#8
I am thankful
that Tropical Storm Debby is out to sea,  and
that we didn't really have to deal with her,  just
her precipitation!  lol
but our lawn loved it!!

#9
I am thankful
that DeeAnna passed her state boards for her
mammography course.  Now she can get on with
life.  It has been hard studying so much especially
since she is a newlywed and they are having so
much fun together and with their new home.

#10
I am thankful
for what a bright, clear, sunny and gorgeous day
it is...........you really appreciate those more, when
you have had days and days of dismal and rain.

#11
I am thankful
to get a chance to be outside in the sunshine too.
I have only had that pleasure once since we have
been back from vacation and that sun feels absolutely
delicious and makes me feel good all over, that is
because it boost your melatonin levels and it is a great
way to get your vitamin D,  sure works for me!

#12
I am thankful
for another really good movie with a message that
we saw last night.  It is called "To save a life",  it
is really very good,  and if you have teenagers it
might really hit home with them as well,  cause it
is about peer pressure and how we treat people,
and what life is really all about.
You can rent it from netflix.

#13
I am thankful
for a really wonderful surprise we got this week,
but unfortunately, I can't tell you  what it is yet,
but surely will as soon as I can!!

Well that's all folks...........lol

Tried to make the porky pig
 version but couldn't figure
out how to do it!!  lol

Hope you have a simply delightful
Friday and Weekend!

Thanks for droppin by..............
love hearing from you as always.

Love, Hugs and
Blue Sunny Sky Blessings,
Nellie

Tablescape Thursday - Safari place setting

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope it has been a good day for you!

It has been for me!!  Yesterday I went shopping
most of the day looking for a few inexpensive
coastal pieces so I could finish up my coastal
decorating...........so,  found some and finished
up today,  so very happy with the results.

This is a safari table that would look good in
my daughter's house.  It all started with me getting
her this zebra charger when we went to Hobby
Lobby.........so since I had it I thought I would play
and see what kind of tablescape I could come up
just by finding stuff in the house, and I have nothing
safari looking anywhere.....................

but I do have printmaster,  so I went looking for zebra pictures
and found this one,  so printed it  and cut it out, and thought
it looked great on the napkins and highlighted the zebra
 print of course.

Next I found a red Christmas candle
and an old  metal bracelet I have

The candle fit perfectly inside it!
I had red napkins leftover from Christmas too!

Stuffed one in the glass for more color

Then put the silverware at the top for a different look!

Also had this lil choc. brown satin bag, so decided to
do a place setting with the silverware in it.

Since I couldn't have the zebra there too,
decided to stick him in the goblet.

Posterized affect,  had to get at least one
picture in ya know!

Well, I had fun and hope you did too!

  Mr. Zebra says so long...............

Hope you enjoyed your safari..............lol

Thanks for your visit,  you are always
welcome here,  and please say hello
why you're here too.

I am linking up to Susan
over at between naps on the porch, so
if you want to see more fun tablescapes

Hugs and Safari Blessings

Dreary Rainy Monday............and tropical salad with citrus dressing recipe

Afternoon Sweet Friends,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Started this post on Monday but didn't
have time to finish so just combined
yesterday and today!!  lol

Ours was good, uneventful and restful,  as hubby
came home Friday night not feeling too well.  I think
maybe we have been trying to fight off a bug or some-
thing as we had both been exhausted all week,  earlier
in the week I was feeling a bit queasy for a few nights,
and thought it was just cause I was tired since I am
going thru my cyclical not sleeping all night  thing,
but then hubby came home feeling that way on Friday
night as well.  Dee said  she and everyone at work had
been feeling the same way,  just exhausted,  she said
some people said it was the high pollen count,  but I
checked it and it said it was low,  course, I forgot that
we got rain all day that day,  so that helps wash away
some of the pollen thankfully.

The above picture is what all my windows look like
this time of the year when we get into the rainy season.
It has been raining a lot since last Wednesday I think
it was.  The lovely humidity outside vs the A/C on
the inside!  lol

I just looked at the weather and looks like tropical
storm Debby might come very close to us,  not too
thrilled about that, course, she is just a small storm,
but I have learned that those small storms can cause
lots of damage as well, especially flooding!

Since I did that coastal Father's Day table and
since we are having so much rain,  I decided to
change a few things around to go from spring to
summer so decided to go with a Coastal look.
So will give you a few sneak peek!
and show you sometime next week probably
once I am totally finished.

Here's just a few other shots for fun......really they are
only temporary to just have something on my dining room
table till I decide what to do......
They are leftovers from my Father's Day table.

Believe it or not the centerpc. is in the center of the table,  this
isn't the end of the table but just the wood in between.  If you
look further beyond the centerpc, you can see the other half of
the table with the glass,  the side in front is just like that

I have seen a lot of pictures lately in many magazines where
they are using live greenery so decided to try it.....

This was looking down inside the trifle bowl at the shells that
are leftover and you can see the philodendron leaf and the candle.

This is the same picture but I used the auto smart fix on it, and
thought it just looked very interesting.

Am hoping to go to Home Goods this week to see if I can find
something that looks Beachy or coastal for my dining room table.
Cause I have a $25.00 gift card I got for my birthday and still
haven't used it.............so looking forward to that.

And
for those who are interested,  Scott and Megan found a house
they love and have put in an offer...........so now we wait to see
what happens.  It is a beautiful home and a very good deal.
and it is in our town..............Yeah!!

Made a new salad and dressing last night for dinner and it was
absolutely wonderful,  so thought I would share it with you.
Perfect for summer, or a ladies luncheon
Actually found it in a Publix magazine, and it was from a
blogger in Ocala, Florida, course, I changed it up a bit
to go with what I had in the house.

It is also very heart healthy as well!

starting to get hungry???

It is called
"Tropical Salad with Citrus Viniagrettte"
and this is my version, and I do each plate
separately cause it looks so pretty. Course,
there is just 2 of us,  she said she uses a
platter,  which is a good idea too.

Ingredients for Salad
spring mix
2 cups of mandarin orange segments
1 cup of hulled and sliced strawberries
1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
!/2 cup of plain pecans (whole)

Citrus Viniagrette dressing
3 tsp. of apple cider vinegar
6 tablespoons of olive oil
6 tablespoons of honey
6 tablespoons of Orange Juice

in a food processor or magic bullet (what I use)
mix all the above ingredients, then douse your
salad.........lol......If you like fruit in your salad you
will love this,  hubby and I  both, sooo enjoyed this,
and can't wait to have it again, today for lunch. lol

NOTE: I tripled (the above) her dressing recipe and it
was probably enough for 4 people.

Hungry Now???  Am I mean or what???

This is a little egg cup of the dressing with some
gluten free crispy crackers.  Love those things.

If you would like check out Julie's blog go to
PBfingers.com.  I went there to find the original
recipe so anyone who wanted to could see it,
but couldn't find it on her blog.  I wrote her, but
haven't heard back yet,  so if anyone is interested
in seeing the original let me know and if I hear
back from her,  I will let you know.

Update:  Never heard back from her!!

So............hope you have a terrific Tuesday

Thanks for stopping in,  looking forward to hearing
from you as always,

Hugs and Rainy Day Blessings,
Nellie

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - June 21, 2012

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live in him,  rooted and built up in him,
strengthened in the faith as you were taught,
 and overflowing with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6 & 7

Hello Sweet Peas,

Hope you have been having a great week,
it sure has gone by fast.... I must say!

Nothing real exciting going on around here, however, we
are excited for Scott and Megan, as they are house hunting,
so we are praying that find just the perfect house for them,
and that they get a great deal................this is certainly the
right time to buy.

Well, on with my list of Thankfuls

#1
I am thankful
that my well deserving hubby had a very nice
Father's Day.

#2
I am thankful
for these lovely  flowers you see here that my
sweet SIL Susan brought to me on Sunday.

#3
I am thankful
for the lovely time I had having my quiet time this morning
out on my porch. Circumstances just seemed so perfect:
the lawn was freshly mowed,  had just cleaned the porch
yesterday, and it was nice and cool cause it rained last
night,  it is typically too hot out there this time of the
year, and all the landscape was fresh and lush, and I
had that perfect cup of coffee, but best yet, got some
new incites from the word of God.

So it was really a blessed time...............

#4
I am thankful
for my porch and my backyard,  they are
both such a huge blessing to me.

#5
I am thankful
for the White and Orange Ibis in our yard this morning,
when hubby was leaving for work, and squirrels all out
eating their breakfast.  They are just such pretty birds.
We see these as lil gifts from the Lord.
and
then a lil while later as I was walking past the window
I saw some darker birds with them,  they are evidently
just a different variety of Ibis.  They are dark grey, with
a lil white and brown legs and beaks.  Course, maybe
one is the female and one the male.......gotta look that
up online, be right back.....................lol
Think the darker ones are young ones that have not
lost their baby feathers yet.

Here you can see a lil bit of the white Ibis's, but I was mostly
trying to capture the dark Ibis as we have never had them
come here before.

Never had the white ones until just a few years ago.  They have
been by quite a number of times already this year.

Can you see the lil gray blob on the right, that is a
squirrel.  Told my husband he is a brave fellow to
go out there with all those birds with long beaks.

#6
I am thankful
that I found a new Meme's to link up to today,
and was invited to join 2 others that I didn't
even know existed,  so that was fun.

If you are interested in knowing about them too,
scroll down to my last post
 "Coastal themed Father's Day
and go all the way to the bottom of the post,  and they
are listed there and you can click on the links.

# 7
I am thankful
that we got to visit the new Hobby Lobby last
night, finally.  We didn't get to see everything,
so will probably take another trip sometime soon,
but was sort of disappointed that they were so
expensive  but fortunately, I didn't really see
anything calling my name yet!!
But it was a fun trip!

#8
I am thankful
for the new exercise wii videos or games the
kids gave Jimmy for Father's Day.  We did the
"Walk it Out" exercise game, but we are still trying
to figure it out, so we sort of did our own thing,
but got a good workout, not so great on the game
part! lol  Course, we are more concerned with the
exercise.  I learned about it from Sue over at I need
Mom,  she is a fountain of good information.  We also
did the other one too, it is more of an exercise routine,
so we will be working up to this one, but they are both
good,  but gonna be better once we get the
hang of them................So thank You  kids!

#9
I am thankful
for my lil samsung point and shoot camera,  love
that everytime I upload pictures to the computer
I can recharge it and it is ready to go anytime.
and of course, I like the fact, it takes all these great
pictures you see on my blog.  A few of these today
are an exception,   more the lighting or the
 photographer............
which would be Me!   of course!!  lol

#10
I am thankful
that our kitty Molly seems to be feeling better,
she didn't seem like she was feeling very good
for awhile and wasn't eating much,  but she
seems to be coming out of that.  We were
starting to get worried about her.

#11
I am thankful
for Ghirardelli and Lindt Dark Chocolate Bars.
We eat a square every day for heart health,
and boy, what a chore............lol
They are fabulous, just had a piece, so that's
what reminded me.

#12
I am thankful
for the 2 nice ladies that came by today and
invited me to join in the 2 new memes.  Thanks
for your encouragement, it was very appreciated.

I decided to put this arrangement in the new pitcher
hubby gave me for Mother's Day and put it in my bathroom.
Since it is the only place that I have purple, and never get
the luxury of having fresh flowers in there,
 and  sure have enjoyed it.

Well,  that wraps up my thankfuls for this week!

So glad you could join me today and I really
appreciate your visit.

Love, Hugs,
and Beautiful Floral Blessings to you!

Nellie
