Welcome to Thankful Thursday - July 31, 2014 and summer dining room scenes

Summer dining room scenes from 2012

"As long as the earth endures,
 seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat, summer and winter,
day and night will never cease."
Genesis 8:22

Grateful Greetings to you
Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you well and
happy this last day of July!!
Can hardly believe tomorrow is
 August.
Well, two really hot months down,
about 21/2- 3 mos. more to go for
us here in Florida. We have been
in the 100's,  so if it doesn't rain
 it is swelteringly hot.......
fortunately, it has been raining
most days..........ahhhhh....

My week has been a good one, busier than usual,
but good.  Today I spent most of the day either
cooking, preparing this post or talking off and on
to my girl in Asheville.
I made some Lasagna to take to my friend who is
laid up, but so many people have been bringing food
she doesn't need any right now (a great problem to
have) so guess I will freeze it for next week.
Then made dinner for us too,  and earlier I did the
flax seeds wraps (from yesterdays post, so if you
are interested, (Just click here) and the flax seed
muffin in a cup, you will read about later.

Tonight after dinner we worked outside for about
40 mins. and got a lot of bush cutting done, oh the
 wonder of gas hedge trimmers............
Thank the Lord.
We even got all the debri cleaned up, still a few
more bushes to do,  but hopefully we will get to
that tomorrow night or Saturday, since the yard
 has already been mowed.

Posterized affect

Well, on with my list....................

I am thankful

#1
that our Sunday School class is
continually growing........not that numbers
matter,  but it is just more young people
that we can possibly help have a better
marriage, and we are all about that!!

#2
for our co-workers in this labor of love,
because without them, we would not be
able to take these trips to see our
daughter and son-in-love.

#3
for a fun time with our other kiddos here
on Sunday......catching up on what has been
happening in their lives while we were away
and we even got to play some cards.

colored pencil affect - I love how this pic came out.

#4
that a lil kiddie tea cart we found while in
Asheville was quite a hit with Brooklyn
She is having lots of fun with it to say
the least.

#5
for finding one of my favs coffee at the
grocery store,  that I haven't seen in a
long time...........It is Publix Brand coffee
Decaf "House Blend or Breakfast Blend.

#6
for having a few minutes to just sit down
with the paper and drink my coffee and have
a few cookies. ah such a simple pleasure
as it was pouring rain outside and looked
like it is night time, and made me feel bit
chilly...............so the coffee made it cozy!

#7
for the ability to put a smile and sometimes
even evoke a good laugh out of our lil
darling...........such fun!!
and on Wed. we saw her kiss her big pink
bunny we gave her from our last trip, and
then say I love ou............so adorable!!
That was all said during her baby babble
conversation.

#8
for a new recipe from another blogger
named Debbie from over at "My favorite
things"blog.  It is called a muffin in a mug,
and is made from ground flax seed and is
gluten free, so if you are interested you can
just google muffin in a mug,  and find all sorts
of recipes for it.  Just made my first one and
was pretty impressed,  am gonna tweak it a
bit the next time tho.  Mine was cinnamon
flavored.  I will add more cinnamon the next
time, and who knows what else.........lol

#9
for still another fun and beautiful song that just
brings a smile to my face and makes me feel
like dancing every time I hear it.
It is becoming another dancing song for me
and Brooklyn.  It is called "It's a beautiful day"
by Jamie Grace.

Click Here to see her video

#10
for a husband and family that loves me, and
that most of all..... Jesus loves me!

and of course, He loves you too!!

#11
that 2 ladies who were walking along a  railroad
trestle survived being run over by a freight train.
Amazing...............I can't even begin to imagine
how scared they must have been.

Click here (nothing gruesome, so don't worry)

I don't know how the 2nd woman got flat

quick enough.  Amazing!!
Definitely, the amazing grace and protection
of God

#12
for all you folks that visit my blog,  and those
that leave comments and those that don't,
and for all the inspiration I gain from each of
you.......spiritually, recipe and decorating wise,
and just enjoying hearing about your lives
and projects, and many times prayer wise too.
Blessings and cudos to each of you!

So glad you could come by............

Hope you have a lovely weekend
 with those you love...............

Love, Hugs and
End of July Blessings
 to each of YOU!

Gluten free recipe for Flax seed wraps - great for sandwiches

The real thing with a posterized affect...........lol

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,

So how are ya??  Having a good
 week I hope.........

Mine has definitely been better, I seem to be
getting my energy back,  Thank Goodness!

Had a nice restful weekend so am sure that
helped a lot.  Played some cards, watch
a movie, can't even remember the name
of it now............asked hubby and he said
it was "Unstoppable" by Kirk Cameron.
It was a short movie but a very good movie.

Also sewed another porch cushion, so 2
down 4 to go, and just rested and talked
a very good thing!!

Needed to clear off the table as the kids
were coming over on Sunday,  so needed
to put my sewing machine and paraphenalia
away...am hoping to get it back out again
this week or next week,  and do some more.

Had a great time with the kids, some good
things happened for them over the time
we were gone, so it was good to get to
hear about it all................

This week I have Brooklyn 2 days, had her
on Monday, then again Wed. our usual day.
Then I have a dear friend who broke her
foot and had to have surgery on it,  so will
probably go spend the day with her on
Friday,  and see if there is anything I can
do for her.  She is not suppose to put
any weight on her foot for 8 weeks.
Can you imagine!!

Today (Tues.) I went to the grocery store
and to the dollar tree, and talked to Dee
for a few minutes,  am suppose to talk to
her again this afternoon after her hubby
goes back to work.........so the rest of
the day today other than doing a simple
din din and on Thursday I plan to just
take it easy and hoping by next week
I will be feeling over the top great!!  lol

Wanted to share this neat recipe my
daughter found online,  think it might
be a Wheat Belly Diet recipe.  So since
I am trying to eat gluten free she made
these and we made sandwiches with
them,  and they were really quite good.

Flax Seed Wrap
(makes just one wrap,  so you will have
to adjust the recipe accordingly if you
want to make more than one.)

3 Tablespoons of ground flaxseed

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon of paprika (don't think we added that)

1 pinch of sea salt

1 tablespoon of melted coconut oil

1 tablespoon of water

1 large egg.

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.  Stir in
oil and water.  Beat in the egg until well
blended.  Spray or grease a glass pie plate.
Pour mixture into pie plate and tilt back
and forth until mixture spread evenly across
the bottom.  Microwave on high for 3 mins.
Remove from pie plate with spatula, flip over
and fill with your choice of ingredients.

They sort of resemble pancakes (lookwise)
 a bit larger tho............and a very nice
replacement for regular bread.

We used Butterball deep fried Turkey
Breast,  lettuce, tomatoes and ranch
dressing!  They were good folks!!

Course, you can put whatever your lil
heart desires in them.

Made these today, Thursday,  and put chicken
salad, lettuce and tomatoes on the wrap.
Deeeeeelicious!!

Hungry yet!!  lol

Enjoy!!

*******
Just got
the ingredients to make them today,
(Tuesday}, so think I am gonna double this
recipe and cook them,  then try freezing
one on a cookie sheet and storing it in a
freezer bag,  and see how it does,  if so then
you can make a bunch at one time and
just store them in freezer!  I will let you
know how that works out)

Note:  I tried freezing it, and they are
sort of dry and inflexible and don't taste
nearly as good.  So plan B would to make
up lil snack bags with all the dry ingredients,
so they are ready whenever you need them,
then you would just have to add the eggs
and oil)

I am looking forward to having them again.
Hope you try them and like them yourself.
Wish I had thought to take a pic of hers.
Guess I will come back and add a pic
when I make mine.  lol

See I did come back.... and added more
 than one picture............lol

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - July 24, 2014 and part 2 of Summer Table Tops

coffee table pics - summer 2014

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him,
strengthened in the faith as you were taught,
 and overflowing with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6&7

Greetings Sweet Friends,

What was your week like?
Hope it was a good one.

I have had better weeks, and then I have had way
worse weeks too!  We have both been so tired this
week, and really don't know why.  Maybe it is just
a let down from our trip.  Feeling much perkier
today tho, so guess I am coming out of whatever
 it was...............Thank Heavens!
So didn't accomplish too much this week other
than unpacking, and catching up on mail and
emails and doing the lawn, but thankfully,we left
the house in good stead, so there really wasn't
any housework I had to do, other than the usual
straightening up and dishes
Should have been sewing on my porch cushions
but just wasn't in the mood........
so there you go!  lol

Oh yea, almost forgot...........
told you in Tuesday post that I would put the
rest of the pictures of my summer family room
table tops in today's post since I always put
some sort of pictures, and they were handy
so decided that would work.

So.....now on with Thankful Thursday......

I am thankful

#1
for a safe and uneventful trip home
from North Carolina, and for all the
fun we had while there.

#2
for the discovery of strawberry lemonade
at a Cracker Barrel in Savannah. Have had
 Raspberry lemonade but never strawberry,
it was wonderful. I am typically a water
drinker but when I saw it on the menu just
had to try it, and so glad I did.............
Will be wanting to visit there again
before the summer is over and they
 quit serving it!  lol

#3
for seeing my son and lil darling on
Monday morning, Megan just happened
to be working unfortunately, (which is
 not her typical schedule).....so played
with Brooklyn till nap time, then had a
quick lunch with Scott before I
came home.  Nice!

#4
for some Key Lime cookies we bought
(like the ones in my giveaway a month
or so ago) while we were in N.C., and
boy are they good..........um um!!
Got them at Home Goods, same place
I got them here.........lol
They could easily become a fun treat!

sofa side table pics - summer 2014
#5
for a sweet email from Dee on Monday
morning saying she missed us already.
and to Come back...........lol

#6
for the delicious peaches we picked up
in Ga. on the way home.  Have been
enjoying them for breakfast every morning.
Yummo........

Our lil darling - she was 11 mo. here

#7
that Molly did well why we were away,
as always, and thankful it is because
of the great care my Sweet SiL Susan
gives to her.  Thanks Susan!!

#8
That the last 2 days have been sunny,
even tho we got rain later in the day.
We had a lot of gloomy days before
we left on our trip and then the last
3 up in N.C. were like that too, and
the start of our week here was too.
So hap hap happy to see
 Mr. Sunshine..........

Posterized affect
#9
for a cute show put on by some drop by
young Sandhill cranes early this morning.
They were playing and jumping and
fluffing their feathers and picking up
bread we had fed them and grass
and tossing it in the air playfully.
Such a delight to watch.

Tweaked from Spring into Summer mantle - 2014

#10

that we were finally able to mow our grass
Wed. evening, as it had been almost 2 weeks.
and grass grows quickly in Florida in the summer
especially when it rains every day.
Besides being gone all last week and then all
the rain this week, that was why it took so
long, because even when the sun was shining
earlier in the day it was raining every evening
by the time hubby got home.

but.......... it looks like a lovely lawn now.
 yeah!!

#11
for some really good things that have happened
for Scott (our son) to do with his job.  This was
the Jumping up and down exciting that I was
talking about a few weeks ago...........and it
turned out even better than we expected........

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.....

#12
an unexpected and neat visit from 2 young
ladies that were missionaries, who stopped
by my house yesterday. I could tell they were
sooo hot and sweaty, so I invited them to
come in and cool off and gave them some water,
we had quite a lovely chat about the things
of God.  They were really lovely young ladies,
and I really enjoyed talking with them, and
they were so grateful for the cool respite,
so think we were all blessed by our
time together.

Well, there you have it...............

New curtains for the family room and a summer table top

Spring 2013

Morning Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you well and happily
enjoying summer!  Can hardly believe
we are almost out of July, only 8 days
left,  oh my!!  Did that fly by.....

Am all unpacked and just trying to
get my mojo back after being gone
for 9 days, another reason that July
seemed to fly by so fast.......lol

Some of you have asked when I was
gonna get my curtains up???
Actually the family room ones have
been up for probably over a month,
but figured I would wait until I got
the dining room done too, which has
been done for a few weeks now too,
but since we were going away and
I already had pics of my playing
vignettes done, so I did those
 posts instead.

So now.... I can do my curtain post.
I have to say I have really enjoyed
the new look.  After going thru the
pics and all,  I decided to just show
you the family room this week, as my
dining room table has fabric all over it
and the sewing machine,  so doesn't
make for a very nice picture. if you get
my drift.........so will show you those
next week probably. I am still tweaking
both rooms,  but had to quit to get
ready for our trip and then of course,
the trip itself.  lol  So after tomorrow,
I will probably be back at it again.

Here you can see I was trying it out to
 see how we liked it.

When you see them scrunched together
it is hard to tell they look like this.
Not the best pic, I might add,  but
really love the fabric and if you have
been by last week,  you saw this as
a table cloth............lol

The curtains went from this.....more formal look

to this more casual and modern look.
(The lights were on here so it sort of changed
the color) Still trying to decide if I want to
paint the curtain rods....and what color if I
did..........any ideas??  They would be welcome.
I am thinking I might like to paint the walls
a vanilla color, but not really sure..........

This is the right shade of blue on everything too.

This shot was taken from the dining room.
Did you notice I was trying the afghan in
different spots.   lol  Some of these pics
were taken at different times.

Decided to throw in a few Spring/Summer table
top pics as well.  Since I changed a lot of things
around since Spring...........

A lovely book I won a few years ago in a give-
away from Bonnie over at One Designing Woman.

It is called "One Thousand Gifts"
by Anne Voskamp.  A great read I might add,
the prose is wonderful, and lovely gift for anyone,
and It confirmed what I had already discovered
by doing my Thankful Thursday post every week.

This shot was taken from the kitchen

Hope you enjoyed your visit,  Happy you came
by and hope you will say hello........

Will show you the rest of the tabletops pics
on Thursday........
