Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid.

Hebrews shares with us in 12:5-11, "Do not make light of the LORD's discipline, do not lose heart when He rebukes (disciplines) you, because the LORD disciplines those He Loves, and He punishes everyone He accepts as a son. For what son is not disciplined by his (human) father? We have all respected them for it. GOD disciplines us for good, that we may share in His holiness." Discipline whether from parents to children, among family members, or our Heavenly Father to His children of salvation, it is all for the good of those who learn from the discipline to become more like Jesus and what He wants us to be for His glory. Thank you, Nellie, for bringing the thoughts up from this verse in Proverbs! I love you all, Susan
ReplyDeleteGreat verses Susan.......
ReplyDeleteWhen I came upon that verse and that it used Stupid, I have to say I was surprised....but
I had to laugh because when I have seen people who just don't want to hear anything from
anybody, or they get so offended by things people say, I have always thought how stupid
that is........cause the bible says with many counselors comes success, so we only shoot
ourselves in the foot when we refuse to hear others, especially if they are people who
care about us...........cause many times they might have an answer to a problem we are
having, it doesn't mean we have to do what they say, but we should at least consider what
they have to say, rather than just disdaining it, cause many times they might just be right.........
Thanks for your comments,
Love, Nellie
You are definitely right. We can all learn from the lessons that come our way, especially when we respond with our spiritual natures and not that of our flesh natures! I think this is what becoming "more like Christ" means. Love you all, Susan
