Fall Decor 2014 Part 2

 Hello Sweet Friends,

How are you today??
Having a good day, I hope!

Mine has been good, uneventful and slow, which is
good for me right now!!   lol
I always feel a lil deflated for a few days after we leave
Dee,  whether it be her coming her or us going there.
Always hard leaving those you love, and I will be fine in
a few days.  Some of it is probably because we stay up
late yakking and trying to get as much visiting
in as possible...........lol

Thought I would show you our Fall mantle.
I actually took some pictures of the whole fireplace,
but they really didn't look great,  cause I need to put
something in the fireplace be it wood or candles,
cause that empty space sticks out like a sore thumb
 in the pictures!
Which is sort of funny since it doesn't look
that bad in real life...........lol

Thought I would start on the left of the mantle
 and go to the right............

This pic was taken with the flash,  so at least you can sort
of see the glass cylinder with the pretty leaves.  I started
off with a magnolia garland I laid across the mantle.

This pic was without the flash and came out much lighter,
so you can see the candle flickering.

Also I changed the pine cones from normal color to
gold ones,  thought they looked much better.

Also stuck in 3 flowers that sort of looked like ones in
the picture,  some rust and green ribbon,  and some
Golden and brown berries, and of course, the pine
cones as well.

With flash

Without flash,  amazes me how much darker they are
with the flash,  I would think it would be the opposite.

This is the only time of year that I really enjoy earth tone
colors in my home.  It makes it seem so warm and cozy
and Fallish........lol  Course, that is the plan!  lol

These 2 with flash again. the one above and below,
this writing.  That pine cone on the left really is gold,
but it sure doesn't look like it here.

without flash
This cylinder has faux apples and nuts

With flash

and you always need some candles.

This is on the right side of the hearth,  and the
left side has fireplace tools........

Hope this is starting to put you in the mood for
your Fall decorating if you aren't there yet!!  lol

I am happy mine is all done and I can just enjoy
it all now..........now all we need is some Fall
weather to go with it !!  lol

Hopefully mid Oct. might bring us a bit or
by Halloween at least.........

Well.  Count it all joy.................

Thanks for coming by and would love
for you to leave a comment so I know
 you were here.

Have a Trusting Sunday

Happy Sunday Morning,

Hope your weekend is going well.

I used to do a simple Sunday post
with just a verse years back and
decided I wanted to start doing
that again.  Here is a wonderful
verse so fitting anytime, but......
especially fitting for the day and
age we are living in..............

Trust in him at all times, O people;

pour out your hearts to him,

 for God is our refuge.

Psalm 62:8

Have a Trusting Sunday,

Blessings, Nellie

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - September 11, 2014

Past pictures of Fall at Cozy Place

You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary;
the God of Israel gives power and strength
to his people.  Praise be to God!
Psalm 68:35

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope you have had a very good week.

Mine has been very busy yet very good!  Got a lot
done.........nothing like motivation of upcoming
events to get you going!   lol

You will see what I mean as you read.  Gotta get
to the airport soon...........so gonna just stop here
and get on with my Thankful list.

I am thankful

#1
for a fun time with Scott, Megan, and the Baby.
on Saturday afternoon and evening.

#2
for a really great new to us, Italian restaurant
that is over near their house.  We got take out
from there, and it was really really good.  We
all got something different and we all loved it.

#3
that I have all my spring/summer decorations
down and packed away, as of Monday.

#4
that I have the family room and dining room
and outside almost finished with the new Fall look,
just have some tweaking and the living room to go.

Note: Finished it all Tuesday and have everything
put away..............and now just enjoying it!

#5
that Sunday school went quite well, considering
that we sort of  had to wing it cause our other
teacher was sick and couldn't come at the
 last minute.

#6
for these new to us,  heath bar cookies that
Hubby found at Publix supermarket,
 they are so yummy!
They aren't gluten free and I probably
shouldn't be eating them but they are just
 too good to pass up.

#7
for the incredible smile those cookies put
on Brooklyn's sweet lil face when she tried one.
It was just the cutest thing I have ever seen......
I typically don't give her sweet stuff,  and would
never give her a lot, but give her bites off my
cookie now, and she is loving it.
She just tickles me pink..........

#8
that we got the rest of step #5 done on our mail
box project......( finished digging the bed out)
and then step #6 (cutting the black garden fabric
that goes under the mulch to keep the weeds out)
and #7( planting the pittsoporumbush) and part
of #8, (putting the garden cloth down),  Got all
that done on Wed. evening and hoping that if
we have no rain tomorrow evening we will be
able to finish the rest.

Update on Thursday: We finished........Yay!!
but we do need to put a lil more mulch,  but
it looks finished ..............so very happy
with the outcome.

#9
that DeeAnna will arrive tonight (Thursday
evening at 10:30) Can't wait to see her.....
We haven't seen her since mid July, so we
are very excited...............

Note:  she  made it here safe and sound,
it is 2:30 and we are just going to bed.  lol
#10
that my friend Becky over at TimeWashed
has had such a great pumpkin selling
season................altho I miss seeing her
as the is knee deep in pumpkin making!! lol

#11
that I know and can depend on the Lord,
cause with all the craziness going on in our
world today, that is a great comfort!

#12
for a lil treat the Lord gave me today.  I
happened to walk by my living room windows
and there are 3, and right in the middle one
I could see a huge white bird looking in.......
I ran to get my camera, and he must have
seen me cause he was still in the yard but
not as close to the window, so had to go
out and he was slowly on the move,  but
got a fairly good shot of him,  Looked up
the kind of bird he was cause have never
seen one in our neighborhood before,
It was a white Heron.  Very beautiful, but
very skinny compared to the pics I saw
of White Herons.  Hope he wasn't starving,
sorta wish I had fed him some bread now.

Also saw a big turtle this week in our yard.
It has been at least 4 yrs. or so since we
had one of those come by..........

 Hiding out!

The Lord knows how these critter sightings
delight me so............

Thanks for coming by.............

Bye now..........

Love, Hugs,  and
Sweet September Blessings,

Nellie

First Fall Decorations for 2014

With Posterized affect

Howdy Sweet Friends,

How is your Tuesday going?
 Well, I hope!

Mine has been busy....
Since I was watching our lil darling this afternoon,
I was trying to finish up my Fall decorating and clean
up all the stuff off my dining room table before she got
here,  and mission accomplished........ very happy
with how everything turned out  too,  and we are
already enjoying our new Fall look.............

Gave her lunch and she is napping now,  so am
hoping I can get this post done before she
wakes up.

Our Sweet daughter is arriving late Thursday evening
and wanted to have the house all done for Fall when
she arrived.  Now I just need to put some things away
in the guest bedroom,( which was her old room) and
dust in there so it will be ready for her to stay in......
Also clean the guest bathroom.

Thought I would show you a few scenes of this years
Fallercizing of our house.

Took a picture of the sofa too, since I remembered I never
did show you my new throw pillows I got a few months
back.  I already had the green ones, so all that aren't green
are the news ones.

Here's a closeup of the pillow,  I liked it cause
it was a lil modern looking but really liked it
had all those colors.

  • Here's the coffee table.

I have 3 of these glass cylinders,  so filled them all,
one with nuts, one with leaves and one with faux apples,
Had them all on the coffee table with just one pumpkin
but decided to move 2 of them to the mantle instead.
Which I will probably show you next week.

With posterized affect

Remember this pic of our sofa table from my
last post .  The summer look ........

Well, here is the Fall look, and I have to say
I was a tad worried about how all my Fall
decorations would look with the new curtains,
but to my thrill everything looks great!

Took this so you could see our Fall leaves from North
Carolina. Dee and I preserved them while we were up
there last November, and had such a fun time doing it.
Will probably share the tutorial and pics we took soon,
cause I never got to post it last year cause it was too
late in the season,  so figured I would just say it till
this Fall................lol

I did it I finished before she woke up!
It's like playing a game of beat the clock! lol

Well, there have it..........a lil preview..........
There will be more pics to come in the weeks ahead.

I am so enjoying seeing all the fun Fall decorations
out there in blogland,  so much talent and creativity
and it just gets my creativity flowing too!  lol
So thanks to all of you who are sharing!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - September 4, 2014

Last of summer scenes from Cozy Place

Sing to him, sing praise to him,
tell of all his wonderful acts,
Glory  in his holy name, let the
hearts of those who seek the
 Lord rejoice.

Psalm 105:2-3

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope you had a lovely and fun
 Labor Day weekend........and
a good week so far.......

We had a very quiet but really lovely
an fun  Labor day weekend.  We got
take out from Outback  and watched a
silly movie on Friday night.  Something
about clouds with Meatballs,  but cute
and very unserious!!  lol  it is a kiddie
movie!! For some reason I was in the
 mood for that........which is usually...
 not the case! lol

Saturday we had our yummy pumpkin
pancakes, just hung out and talked for
awhile, then went thru mail that had
gotten backed up, (you know the stuff
that comes that you don't know what
to do with, and your waiting for hubby
to decide about) so hubby and I took
care of all that, and I was thrilled!!
As it has been bugging me for awhile.

see this lil basket it was completely
stuffed full of mail on both sides, and
there was an overflow pile as well,
but this is how it looks now.

nice and neat once again!  yeah!
Does anyone else dislike paper as
much as I do???..........lol

After that it was
overcast, so we decided to do some
work outside. So we got steps 2 thru 5
 done on our mailbox area.
Dug the old post and mailbox out,  put
the new post in and attached the new
mailbox, and dug up a lot of the ground
around it.........which was step 5, and we
have more digging to do,  but we are pro-
gressing so that is the important thing.
Hoping we might get a little more done
tonight.  We also got a nice pittisporum
bush to put out there, and put the street
numbers on.  So far,  it is looking pretty
nice..............no pics tho,  too hot!!

and we did get to work out there last
night,  so we are over 75% done with
the digging (step 5), so hopefully, next
time we will get that finished and get
our bush planted.  Not an earth shatter-
ingly wonderful DIY selfer,  but it will
definitely help enhance the yard and
 the neighborhood.
After working we got showers and then
watched a movie and took it easy the
rest of the night.

Sunday was our usual..... church then
frozen yogurt run, nap and then we
watched a few of our Pastors on TV, then
went to see a new movie that just came
out called " When the game stands tall"
at 9:45.  It was a very good movie.
Then we went to Denny's at midnight,
just for the fun of it, and a french dip
was calling my name for some reason,
but they didn't have it, so
we wound up getting a sandwich called
the "Super Bird", it is just a turkey sand-
wich with cheese, lettuce and tomato.....
but we were shocked that they still have it
and that they still call it the same name.
We figured out that the last time we had
one was when we lived in South Florida
before I was even pregnant with my son,
who is gonna be 37 in a few months.
Isn't that crazy...........cause not much
stays the same these days!!

Monday we sorta started Fall cleaning,
and we started with our computer/ work
room. It looks so fresh and nice, so I am
ecstatic about that. Want to redo this room
and have the stuff to do it,  but am still
trying to make up my mind on the
arrangement of the room,  which is hard
cause I want to keep the futon and we
had moved a table in here to use as a
work table,  and they are both long, so
my only option is to switch their places,
but not sure if it will look good, and just
really hasn't been that big a priority.

So our Labor day did involve labor but
a lot of fun as well. Good eating and
card playing too.

This all got me inspired so I have been
Fall cleaning, and today I am hopefully
gonna start my Fall decorating.  That
is the plan anyway!

I started this post yesterday,  but our
lil darling woke up a lot sooner than she
normally does,  so never got to finish it,
so thought oh well........... it is written
so will just combine it with
Thankful Thursday. Some of my Thankfuls
might seem a repeat with what you already
read but hey, I truly am thankful for them.

So on we go..............

I am thankful

#1
for Labor Day weekend with my hubby,
always nice to have that extra day.

#2
for our progress on our mailbox project.

#3
for how hubbies help with Fall cleaning
really helped inspire me with the rest of
the cleaning and decorating.

#4
that I have Fall decorations to put out
and make the house feel cozy and like
Fall, since it doesn't feel like Fall outside
 at all.

With paint daubs affect
#5
for and Love those scents of Fall,  like
pumpkin and apple pies, and spice and
pumpkin candles...........

#6
for the promise and excitement of Fall.......
with a few birthdays and our anniversary,
and we usually start our Christmas shopping
in late Oct. or early Nov., then there is one
of our fav holidays, Thanksgiving to come
during this Fun season of the year.

Have been sitting in the living room to read
lately, and just enjoyed the view from here
 for a change.

#7
hamburgers, fries and coke.  One of my
all time fav meals every since I was a child.
Just doesn't seem right to have a burger
without a coke for sure,  and I don't drink
coke often,  and only drink decaf. lol
but it sure is good when I do...........
#8
for my van, she will be 2 years old soon,
and I love her as much as the day we
bought her,  and she has been wonder-
ful for our trips to Asheville.

same pic in colored pencil
#9
that my lil buddy across the street was
here yesterday with his grandmother
and she was saying how well he is
doing in school, and he said he might
just have straight A's on his report
card, So happy to hear he is really
working hard at school, cause there
was a time he wasn't do too well.
We have tried to encourage him.

#10
that my friend with the broken foot
had her brother and SiL visit her to
help out,  and she was so happy they
are here.

Realized I never did show you my new
curtains in the dining room, thought I might
tweak them some more, but so far, I haven't!

#11
that my daughter and her hubby had
a relaxing and  fun time away at the
beach over labor day weekend. They love
the beach and she has missed that living
in North Carolina. Course, don't think she

has missed it quite as much as she
thought she would, since the weather is
so nice and they get to spend so much
more time outside than here in Florida.

#12
that I tried an experiment yesterday for
iced coffee, and it was yum yum yummy,
and super simple.  Make coffee ahead
of time and put in fridge so it is already
cold, then add ice to a glass, fill in 3/4
of the way with coffee, then add 1/4
of the way with Baileys cream brulee
creamer and enjoy!

With photocopy affect

Well, there you have it,
another week at Cozy Place.

Thanks heaps for stopping by

to visit, am always happy to
hear from you.

Love, Hugs and
Last or Summer Blessings!

Nellie
