Monday Manna - Help for times of Adversity - Pt.2 - Dealing with Fear

Good Monday Morning
to You Sweet Friends.

So how was your weekend???
Really good, I hope!!

I have to say ours was really good and fun too,
a few of the highlights were watching a movie,
called "Almost an Angel". It was pretty

good and definitely different!!

Then Saturday we spent most of the day with
Scott and Megan looking at family pics, cooking
a lil and having din din and playing cards,

So it was a very nice day.

His wild rice was delish too!!

Sunday I wound up staying home from church
(this was not the fun part but it did turn out
to be relaxing and good)

cause I had flu like symptoms, but after all
the
rest I feel pretty good this morning.

Jim does too,  he was feeling more tired than
usual after he got home yesterday, so we
 thought
he might be coming down with

something too,
cause there is a lot of flu

 going around in our area.

Well,  guess I had better get on with my intended

 post for the day....hadn't I....lol

Today we are gonna talk about dealing with FEAR.
 This is
a lot longer than I anticipated so decided I

was gonna need to split it into 2 posts.
So the other half will be next Monday.

Adversity help
#3

Realize and expect that the enemy of your soul is going
to try and put fear on you.........this is a new situation or
circumstance that you may not have gone through before,
or even if you have you can still be tempted by fear.....
you might lack confidence in yourself, but realize your
confidence has to be in the Lord not in yourself,
Be prepared and ready for an assault of fear but
determine not to let the enemy put fear on you.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the
devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom
 he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8

Arm yourself with verses that will give you confidence
and quote them, or write them on note cards and put
them places you go often throughout the day, on
your bathroom mirror or by your kitchen sink or in
your car, or at your desk,  etc. and read them out
loud everytime you see them,  before long you will
know them and be able to quote them instantly.

One that the Lord gave us the last time and keeps
reminding us of this time is:

But seek first the kingdom of God and His
 righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

Here's another one the Lord gave me
even before hubby was laid off because
of all the stuff with the economy.

Proverbs 11:28
Whoever trusts in his riches will fall,
but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.

Basically,  we had better have our trust in Him,
Not in Money!!  or anything else for that matter!!

Here is a great example of that......

A wonderful lady at our church had breast cancer and I
remember her telling me that she said to the Lord,
"Lord I accept and am okay with the fact I have the
cancer,  but please can you take away the fear
..........and he did!

We have prayed that same prayer many times through-
out this 8 months layoff journey and guess what???
He did take it away and also has reassured us.

Example:
One night in the very beginning I was awakened
by fearful thoughts and immediately cried out to the
 Lord,  help me!!
I know this is the enemy trying to put fear on me.
The next thoughts were Wonderful, and I believe
 they were from the Lord,
"Nellie,  you are almost 59 years old....and have
you ever gone without anything you have needed??"
and I had to say an unequivocal NO,  and then
I was flooded with his peace.  Someone else I
know just had that same experience as well.
God is in the comforting business when we
 will allow Him to be.

I just want to say you are not hearing this from
a woman who has not had any issues with
fear in her life, in my earlier life as a christian
I used to be the worst worrier in the world
and had a lot of fear,  but over the years
the Lord has shown me the enemies tactics
and has helped me to gain victory over him
in those areas,  not that they never happen
but they usually don't last long or don't happen
as often.  Mostly now he likes to attack
me with that stuff in the middle of the
night.  He is not a fair foe!!

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take
your stand against the devil's schemes.
Ephesians 6:10 and 11

Well, Sweet Folks,

Make sure to come back next Monday

for Part 3,  where we will  continue our
discussion on Fear.

If you missed last Monday's post
and would like to read it....

Hope you have a Wonderful
Week ahead...

Blessings and Hugs,
Nellie

Everytime I publish this post
it is haywire, so don't know

what it will do this time, hubby
and I both have tried to fix it
numerous times, so if it is still
goofed up guess I am just
gonna have to post it like that.
Sorry....if it is hard to read!
Strange because I rarely
have this problem!!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - January 13, 2011

(I just happened to be walking thru the family room and
saw this on our wall, they are, of course, reflections,  but
watch how they change in the other pictures to come)

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
Psalm 16:7

Howdy Sweet Peas,

So how has your week been going??
Very Well,  I hope.

We are doing quite well..................
We got some exciting news on Tuesday
evening...............................

Weddings in one year,  but they haven't
 decided on the date yet!!
And.......Her ring is gorgeous!!

So that would be

#1
I am thankful
that DeeAnna is engaged to her best friend
and Sweetie.  They have known each other
 for 8 Yrs. now,
And.............. We love him too!!

He is such a great guy and he treats her
so well, so what parent couldn't be happy
about that!

We never thought this would happen!! lol
She is very much an independent free spirit!

Here's a pic of the happy couple.  This was taken
Christmas Morning!!  For some reason they came
out rather grainy.....don't know why!!

#2
I am thankful
we finished spring cleaning the bedroom,
just have a few drawers left to do.
Don't you just love it when you know
everything is so clean!!  lol

#3
I am thankful
that we will be done giving Molly her
antiobiotics tonight.  Lately,  she has
just been spitting it out and making a
mess.  Guess she is sick of the bubble
gum flavor!!  lol
Am wondering how much of it she
has really gotten the last few days.

(A car pulled out of the driveway across the road
and it quickly changed to this)

#4
I am thankful
for these adorable emails that come
with animals and children .....they really
make me smile and here is the most adorable
pic from one.  My favorite of them all.

http://www.funzug.com/index.php/babies/innocence-of-kids-and-their-pets.html

Isn't  this just the cutest picture!!
and isn't see the most beautiful child!!

I was teasing Megan that I could just see
Joey the Wonder dog in that lil lacy dress
for the Wedding!!

Rosy maybe,  Joey.....No!!  lol

#5
I am thankful
that my sweet SIL Susan brought us
these absolutely delicious tangerines.
I have so enjoyed them,  and have
6 more to enjoy!!   They made a
delightful fruit salad,  it was so tasty,
I wish I had some more right now!!

(Then it went to like a double image- I found
this very intriqueing since I couldn't figure out why)

#6
I am thankful
That Rep. Gabrielle Gifford is doing
so well,  and it looks like she is going
to recover well.  What a Miracle that is!!

Am also so sorry for all those that did lose
loved ones, especially the family who lost their
beautiful lil 9yr. old daughter.  What a horrible
tradgedy for all the families and victims.

(you can even see the shadow of our bricks -on the front
of our house outlined around the left side)

#7
I am thankful
that Michael Douglas has beat his cancer.
It is so great to hear of anyone beating
cancer!!  and so great to hear some good
news.

#8
I am thankful
for such a fun day out yesterday.  Hubby
had to go to the dentist and we left the house
about 9:45 and didn't get back till 4:30.

After the dentist we went to Burlington Coat
Factory, Ross,  and TJ Maxx  just to look around,
then to David's Bridal to see what they had since
I am beginning to look for something to wear for
Scott and Megans Wedding, already just 4 mos.
away!  Wow!! The time is flying!!

After that we went to see the New "Narnia" movie,
"the Dawn Treader", and it was in 3D as well.
It was a great movie and we really enjoyed it.
We acted like 2 kids today,  we had half a
Peanut butter and apple butter sandwich for
breakfast,  then our fav Chocolate Elvis
Smoothie for lunch, and popcorn as a snack
 at the movies. lol
That is a very rare occurence.... believe me!!

We really had a fun day, cause it was just so
different.  Can not remember the last time I
went to the movies in the daytime.  Way
back when the kids were little,  I think it was!!

(then someone else pulled in our neighbors
driveway and it went to this)

#9
I am thankful
that Scott and Megan gave us that nice movie
gift certificate for Christmas so we could gosee
Narnia, that makes it all the more fun!!  lol

#10
I am thankful
that Jim finally got some more work from his
old company today.  The Lord is right on time!!
Praise His Name!!

(When they left it went to this..........I just loved watching it,  guess
I am very easily entertained. lol)

#11
I am thankful
that I did find a skirt at David's Bridal that
might go with the pretty Plum colored Taffeta
blouse I already have, but I will have to take
my blouse and go back to try it on and see.
They will have to order it!!  So will see,
still not sure if Megans Mom is wearing a
long or short skirt,  she thinks long but need
to wait and see.

#12
I am thankful
that Scott and Megan are coming over
on Saturday for a visit.  Which of course,
we are really looking forward to.  Scott
is going to make some wild rice to go with
a pork roast!!  Can't wait to try it!!
and we are gonna look thru pictures for
something they are doing for the wedding.
That is always fun and a blast from the
past,  we looked at some of his baby
pics last time and it was such fun!!

(and here is the culprit and the thing the light was reflected from -
This is in the front living room window of our house,  and the reflection
was showing up in the back of the house in our family room.  I know
you probably think I'm nuts,  but I thought it was fascinating myself!!

Just Call Me Crazy!!  lol

Well,  Sweet Folks,
That's my list for this week.

Hope you have a Fabulous Friday,
Thanks for stopping in..............

Love, Hugs, and January Blessings,
Nellie

Tablescape Thursday - late Christmas table

Hi Sweet Friends,

This is sort of a late Christmas table and I wasn't going
to share it but then I saw the pictures and thought......
why not!!  With a few changes it could look like
a Valentines or any dinner table really.

I wanted you to see this shot because this is the
actual color of the tablecloth,  for some strange
reason this tablecloth will just not photograph well,
as you will see in the other pictures.

These were actually paper goods that were
left over from my daughters Graduation
Party 2 yrs. ago,  so thought I might as well
use them,  so did for an improptu family dinner.

I love Amarillo's anyway,  but these were the only
Plates I could find that would look nice with our
Christmas decorations as well.  Since her Graduation
was about 4-5 days before Christmas.
They were sold at Target as Christmas Ware.

They probably would not have been my choice,
but I actually wound up loving them!!

Had to come up with a quick centerpc,  so pulled thes
Amarillos out of an arrangement I have in the computer room,
and wrapped some ribbon around it,  then happened to have
just upwrapped a gift from a friend so stuck this glittery
tissue paper with one of the decorative napkins under it
cause it looked better than on the green. then threw in
a few +mas bulbs and candles and was good to go!!

Unfortunately,  the glitter paper doesn't show up all
that well in the picutres.

I love the napkins.  I like that look of writing
in the background, and if you look closely
you can see the french  word Joyeux.

A shot from above!

 A candle shot!!

From the end of the table

With a posterized affect!

Just goes to show you can have a pretty table
even if you don't have china,  and it is nice
and easy clean up as well!
Which is really nice every now and then!

I thought it still looked elegant enough to use stemware.

This has a posterized affect as well.

From the other end of the table.

 This has a lighting affect!

I think this could make a nice Valentines Days table
if you got rid of the Christmas balls,  and the green
tablecloth.  You could use red hearts instead,
and a red, white or creme tablecloth.  No one
takes the time to read the writing on the napkin
anyway!!  Accept Me as I am decorating!!  lol
And you could use a Love sign instead of the
Joy sign!  but the Joy sign could work too!

Well,  those are my humble opinions!!  lol

Hope you enjoyed your visit....

Thank for coming by...................
and for all your sweet comments.

Don't forget to go over and visit with Susan at
Between Naps on the Porch to see more
 fun tablescapes.

Heart Tips Tuesday - 7 Warning Signs of Women's Heart Attacks and a Joke for fun!!

Morning Sweet Friends,

How are you today???  Doing well, I hope!!

I am having a good day,  the sun is finally
out and shining,  it is beckoning to me,
so think I am gonna have to go sit in it
for at least a few minutes,  then get a
shower since we just finished exercising.

Remember I told you last Thursday that I
had been reading an article in Prevention
magazine right before my SIL had her
episode last week about heart attacks
in women.  Thankfully, a heart attack was
not my SIL's problem, but it is a major thing
for women now,  used to be just men mostly,
but now they say there are as many women
as men having them.  Yesterday as I was
finishing up the article I came across the
symptoms of a heart attack in Women.
The symptoms are different for women
than men.  So thought this was a good
piece of info to share with you cause
I didn't know most of these myself or
how prevalent they are to women
these days.

7 Symptoms Women Ignore
(Information comes from Prevention
Magazine - Feb. 2011 issue)

#1
Fatique - In the weeks before an attack, 71%
women have flulike symptoms.  Days before,
you may feel too tired to lift your laptop.

#2
Non-chest pain - Rather than an explosion in
your chest, you may feel less severe pain in your
upper back, shoulders, neck or jaw.

#3
Sweating - You may find yourself suddenly
drenched in perspiration for no apparent
reason, and your face may be pale or ashen.

#4
Nausea or Dizziness - During an attack,
women often vomit or feel like they're going
to pass out.

#5
 Breathlessness -Almost 58% of women
report panting or inability to carry on a
conversation.

#6
Sleeplessness - In the month before a
coronary, nearly half of women have
trouble sleeping.

#7
Anxiety - "Many women experience a
sense of impending doom or fear before a
heart attack," says Dr. Legato. "That's your
body telling you to pay attention.  Trust
 those instincts.

If you think you are having a
heart attack - Take these steps.

#1
Call 911 - Do not drive yourself to the
ER or ask someone else to take you.
In the ambulance, treatment can begin
right away, and they can speed you to
the nearest medical facility that can
handle acute cardiac arrest.

#2
Take an Aspirin - Keep a supply of
full strengthun coated aspirin at home,
and in your purse, and chew and swallow
one with water as soon as symptoms
start.  This can help blood from clotting
and the damage it causes.

#3
Get pushy at the ER - or ask a relative
or friend to be your advocate.  Forcefully
say, " I think I'm having a heart attack",
and insist on seeing a Dr.within 10 mins.
Make sure you get an EKG to check
your heart function, plus blood tests to
detect heart damage.  Do not leave the
hospital until you've been evaluated by
a Cardiologist.

I happened to watch the Dr. Oz Show today
and they said that a 10-30 minute nap gave
you a 30% less risk of having a heart attack,
Sounds good to me!!  lol

Since this was sort of a heavy post,
I want to leave you with a
 Heart Healthy Belly Laugh!!

This is a cute joke I rec'd yesterday,
You will die laughing,  at least hubby and I did!!
Sorry about all the lil arows and stuff,  I just
copied and pasted it from email,  Easy to
read at least.

~A Cup of Tea ~
>
> One day my mother was out, and my dad was in charge of me.
>
> I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little "tea set" as a
> gift, and it was one of my favorite toys.
>
> Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought
> him a little cup of "tea," which was just water. After several
> cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my mom came home.
>
> My dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a
cup of tea,
> because it was "just the cutest thing!'" Mom waited, and sure
> enough, here I came down the hall with a
cup of tea for Daddy; she watched
> him drink it up.
>
> Then she said, as only a mother would know, "'Did it ever occur to you that
> the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?"
>
>

Well,  are you still laughing.................???
Hope so,  makes me laugh everytime I think
about it!!

Hope you have a great rest of the day,

Love and Hugs,
and Heart Healthy Blessings,
Nellie

Happy Sunday Morning Sweet Friends, Have a Wonderfully Blessed Day! Hugs, Nellie
