Welcome to Thankful Thursday - November 11, 2010

Happy Veterans Day Sweet Encouragers
and
Welcome to Thankful Thursday!

Hope you have had a very lovely
Thursday and will have a fab Friday.

Since it is Veterans Day
I think my
#1
Thankful
will be for all those dear Veterans out
there who have made the freedoms we
enjoy possible.  My Father in law was
a WWII Veteran,  my hubby and brothers
and a several dear friends were Viet Nam
Veterans and we have had and known
others from the Dessert Storm and Iraq
and Afghanistan wars.

We salute you!!  We honor You!!
For your love of God and Country
For your bravery in the face of horrific
circumstances,  and for standing with
and for this country, and being willing
to lay down your lives,  and we our
thankful for you and your families who
 have also sacrificed with you!!

Thank You from the bottom of
our hearts!!

#2
I am thankful
for flannel jamies to lounge around
in when the weather is chilly.
I just love they are so comfy/cozy!!

#3
I am thankful
that a dear friend that called today
sounds better than she has in a long
time,  she has been under a lot of stress
and under the heap,  so what a delight
to hear her sounding so good, in fact,
they are coming over in a bit,  and we
are really looking forward to it.

They came and we had a great time.
So happy she is doing so well!

#4
I am thankful
for answer phones because we get a bazillion
solicitation calls a day or so it seems anyway.
Even tho we are on the National don't call
list,  go figure!!

I really don't like to be rude to people cause
I realize it is their job,  but some of them
will just not take No for an answer,  so the
answer phone solves that lil problem for me!!

#5
I am thankful
for toothbrushes and toothpaste!
Can you only imagine what our teeth would
look like without them. ewwwwww!!
don't even want to think about it!! lol

#6
I am thankful
that we have indoor bathrooms, imagine
having to go outside in the cold, with
spiders and critters during the night!!

No Thank You!!

I am thankful we are blessed so much
with indoor plumbing for the bathroom,
but for the kitchen as well.

#7
I am thankful
for leftovers because I haven't had to
cook all week,  so that was a fun 5 day
 Anniversary present!!
Hey, it works for me!!  lol

#8
I am thankful
for the discovery of Hobby Lobby stores and
for a fun day out on Tuesday enjoying it!!

#9
I am thankful
for pretty pictures, and home decor
accessories to decorate our homes with.

We could live without them,  but I sure
wouldn't want to!!
Cause I like feathering my Nest!! lol

#10
I am thankful
that Publix supermarkets have a lemon
crunch cake that is okay for us to eat,
it has healthy oils and no hydrogenation
oils.  It's so delicious,  like a pound cake
with powdered sugar drizzled on it!
and Yum,
we just got one for our company!!

#11
I am thankful
for music because it can really put you
in a great mood and be so encouraging
and uplifting.  I love to listen to
 contemporary christian music,  but also
I love music that sometimes comes from
movies we have watched.  Typically,
I am not crazy about music on blogs, cause
I find it distracting while I am trying to
read unless you have access to shut it
off quickly,  but there is a blog I go to
that everytime I go there it immediately
cheers me up because it has music from
the movie "You've got mail", and we
love that movie and the music.

#12
I am thankful
for sweet lil surprise gifts from friends,
like this

This was how it was packaged!

Love the cute lil stamped tree on the tag!!
I hung it on a drawer knob from a ribbon.
Looks cute!!

But what is it you say???
Chocolate???
Candy??

No Candy,  It is pumpkin pie spice
Goats milk soap!!  and it smells
soooooooo good!!  It was purchased
from someone's etsy shop.

She has some really cute and adorable soaps!

And here it is on my kitchen sink!!
Isn't it adorable!  There are 3 more
soaps as well.
I have really enjoyed using it!!

Well folks.............
that is my thankful line up for this Thursday.

Hope you have a Fun Friday
and Wet and Wild Weekend!!
(Maybe just wild unless you really need rain!!  lol)

Love, Blessings and Fall Hugs,
Nellie

Wanta share your Thankfuls???

Tablescape Thursday

Hello Sweet Friends,

How has your day been???

Thought I would share pics from our
birthday celebration on Sunday.

As you can see it was my Son Scotts birthday,
he turned 33 yrs. old!!  This was the sign over
the table, and also the front of his birthday card.

Here  is the birthday boy with his sweetie, Megan!
This is an older pic taken at Easter because I forgot
as usual to take any pics once they got here!!
As you can see poor Megan was pretty sunburned,
 bless her heart!!

*
Here is a shot from above the table.  I was trying
to do something that looked a lil more manly!!
*

*
And I think pinecones and leaves and fall
colors look pretty natural and manly!!
*

*
I love these lil plastic leaves in 5 different colors,
they have been used over and over again!!
Everywhere!!
*

                                                                                  *
                                                  Can never have enough leaves!!
                                                       *

I have also had these natural leaves
forever, but they were a lil knarled up
so I put paper towel over them and
                                          pressed them!! lol

                                                                                     *
Made the centerpiece by using my elongated
                        platter, pillar candles,
                        dried lentils, natural leaves, pinecones,
                         faux apples and nuts taken
off an old candle ring I have had for ages.                                                                                      *

I really liked the look of the lentils on the
bottom,  hubby thought it looked like a
                                            forest bed.

Finally remembered to light the candles.

Always like to add some candy at each place setting!

Decided to do the place settings at each end
a lil differently, so put the napkin on
the plate and added the apple to match
                                     with the centerpiece.

Here we are all lit up!!

Have always loved these Amber plates
I got at Target some years back.
I use them for dessert or everyday plates
all the time in the Fall.

*
Time for lights out to enjoy the glow
*

*
Aren't Candles so warm and lovely!!
*

*
I love these glasses cause the color
is so versatile,  they sort of pick up
the colors you put them with!
They are actually a pink color,
but look like a rusty color with the
golds and rust.  I was gonna use clear
stemware but we decided they looked
 more guyish.

Sorry this all looks so wierd, for some
reason I had a hard time uploading
the pics and typing the whole thing.

I almost gave up it was so aggravating
but I took a break for awhile and came
back.

Hope you enjoyed your visit!

Thanks for coming by,  and be sure
to go over and visit Susan at
between naps on the porch to see
all the creative ideas these ladies
come up with.

Also, thanks Susan for always doing
such a great job on your posts and for
 hosting this tablescape party!!

Have a Good day tomorrow!

Hugs and Blessings,
Nellie

Hobby Lobby and a fun day out!!

Morning Sweet Friends,

How ya doing today??
Doing fine,  I hope!!

We went out for the day yesterday to celebrate
our Anniversary and had a great time!

I had heard about a craft store for years from Becky
over at Holiday in the sun, called Hobby Lobby!

Well,  we finally have 2  Hobby Lobby stores near
to our area now so...............we spent about 4 hrs.
there  yesterday.  We had such a fun time checking
that place out!!  Oh My,  they have a little bit of
everything.  I was expecting just your usual crafts
and flowers,  but oh my goodness,  they have so
much home decor stuff!   It was neat to see all
the different style decor items they had,  some-
thing for everybody's taste!!  If you have to travel
and hour or so to get to one,  I can say it would
be totally worth your time and travel.

The same shopping center also had a Tuesday
Mornings, TJ Maxx, Bealls outlet and a dollar
store.  So we checked all those out as well.
Most of them weren't as good as the ones we
have near us,  course, nothing could compare
 after being in Hobby Lobby.

Oh Yea,  and I forgot to mention that I think
 they have very reasonable prices.....Most
everything was 50% off, even their Christmas
things,  and I sorta think the Company might
be christian owned or that they have a christian
buyer, because they have lots of things like:
nativity sets, (don't know how long it has been
since I have seen those anywhere) dayspring
cards, plaques and things that have scripture
verses and stuff like that,so got me to
 wondering!!

I decided to go to hobby Lobby and check
out their website.  Guess what???  I was
right they are christian owned and operated
and they close on Sundays!!
If you go to their site they even have a purpose
statement.  So neat!
I will certainly be giving them as much business
as possible once our non-essential money
freeze is over!!  lol
No wonder I liked their store so much,  you
can just sense the spirit there!!
I love those lil surprises................

After all that shopping,  we were tired and
hungry as you might imagine so...........
we headed on over to Carabbas to use
our sweet gift certificate one of our couples
gave to us a month or so ago,  we saved
it...just  for this special occasion.

We absolutely love their food,  we always
get the same thing, we are such creatures
of habit!!  Have you ever had what they
call Tagliarini Pennapuchi or something
like that!!   I am sure it probably is not
spelled exactly like that!! lol
But it is mighty delicious....It is a pasta
dish with sauteed tomatoes, garlic, basil
and olive oil,  and we add meatballs!!
Then of course, it comes with yummy
bread and salads.  Made us happy
campers for sure!!

Gotta get busy,  cause we are counseling
tonight, but just wanted to say Hello.

I am hoping to post on Tablescape
Thursday tonight by 10:00,  so I can do
Thankful Thursday tomorrow night!

Hope you have a warm and Wonderful
Wednesday!!

Thanks for dropping by..........

Hugs and Blessings Galore!

Happy Monday!!

Happy Monday Sweet Friends,

Hope you had a nice weekend!!

Ours was mostly good I'd say,  Friday I did cooking for
our upcoming Celebration yesterday,  and Sat. was my
Sister's Memorial Service, (it was about an hr or so away
from where we live),  so the service was at 11a.m., then
we got home late afternoon, rested awhile then, it was on
to getting the table set and the house straightened  up, and
exercising while watching movies, then Sunday was church
 and  Scott's Birthday Celebration,
and we also Celebrated our 40th Anniversary!

The Memorial Service was really as good as any Memorial
Service can be!!  It was in a small church in a small town I had
only heard about, never been there, but it was very quaint and
was a packed house. I was so proud of my neice (who had
written a letter to her Mom, which her hubby read, and he
did a wonderful job, hard for him tho,  and my 2 nephews,
one was her son,  the other nephew was my other sisters
son.  He grew up being at her house all the time as a kid.
They all did a great job as hard as it was!!  and I know
if she could see them she would have been smiling!!

Her hubby did amazingly well......,  holding on to
the Lord will all his might!!  God Bless Him!
He is a really good  christian man, and he so stood by
her thru all these years with her cancer and treatments.

It was really good to be able to see the whole family
again,  just wish it had been under better circumstances.
Maybe next time!!

Sunday was very nice day,  and a nice diversion from the
events of the week.  Scott and Megan arrived around 2:30,
then Dee and her boyfriend  and Jim's sister came later.
We all had a nice dinner of cuban food (Ropa Veija, yellow
rice and black beans with a salad and rolls that remind us
of cuban bread when we lived in the keys).
We also played a game called 20 questions,  had  Scott's
birthday dessert  (banana pudding made with Nutter
Butter cookies,  his sissy made for him) and
everyone left by 8:30 or so,  mainly cause Scott had to
get up really early for work! (He has to drive 3 hrs.
to meet a co-worker who is training him.just for today)
We had a lovely and fun day tho........and we didn't mind
it ended so early cause we were pooped!!  lol

Want to show you what I found for $2.oo at Home
Goods a few weeks ago.

Some of you might remember that I told you
hubby and I found this neat plate,  that we use
for special occasions,  and we call it our queen
or King for a day plate,  and whoevers special
day it is gets there dessert on this plate.
My guys are secure in their manhood!!
They have to be living with me, and all
my fru fru!!  lol

Well,  here is what we found to go with it..................
We never knew it even existed..............
we just happened on to it!!

Isn't it cute!!
But.........what is it you say???

It is an all purpose candleholder
to match our dessert plate!!
At least that is my purpose for it!!

Doesn't it leave a lovely glow!!
So royal and stately!!

Course, you can only see that in the dark!!  lol

Meant to take a pic of it on top of his dessert,
it looked really cute,  you'll have to take my
word of it!!

We usually only put one candle anyway,  cause
we are all old enough to set the house on fire
if we used the appropriate amount of candles!!  lol

So this was the perfect solution,  cause I always
have tea light candles but not necessarily birthday
candles, and I tend to forget to get them!!
Anybody else have that problem???  lol

AND.....  I realized it is just another way to
simplify life!!  No more last minute trips to the store
 for Birthday candles!!  yeah!!

Well,  folks..........that's life in our world.............

Thanks for stopping by............
love hearing from ya!!

Hope you had a Mellow Monday to sort
of ease yourself back into the week!!

Blessings and Hugs,
Nellie

Oh Yea,  almost forgot again!!

For those participating in the 140 days of prayer,
this is week # 19 and our scripture reading is
in Psalm 117,  We are to pray for World
Wide Revival.

Just one more week to go................
Stay the course!!
