My Daughters Guest Bedroom

 Morning Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you really enjoying Spring.

We are here, we were amazed at how much

Spring had exploded at our house while we

were away, so nice to see all that lush green

out there.......our grass isn't all green yet

but we have been having rain the last few

days and hubby put fertilizer down this

past weekend, so it is greening up fast

now too.  Who can't love Spring!!

Just such a beautiful time of year, and we

are so enjoying the weather still, and hope

it continues to stay in the 70's to low 80's
 for quite awhile yet!  

Thought I would share my Daughters

 guest bedroom, where we sleep while

we are there, cause I just think it is
just so cute. They did a great job of

transforming it without spending a

ton of money and using what she

already had........

Love the colors in her new Ikat patterned 

coverlet, so beachy and bright.  The map

over the bed was a clever gift from her

hubbies late Aunt so they can mark any

places that they have visited.  They have

places marked but you can't see it, didn't

think to take a close up....lol

Lovely shells from one of her husbands

 cousins, the blue fish bottle was from us.....

and the rest was using what she already had.

Isn't the fish pillow the cutest!

That and the blue patterned one are new.

She already had the green ones.

and much to my surprise the other side

of her quilt has more lil fishies......So 

that will be a fun change down the road.

Loved the lil crabs pictures.....and they added
 white boho style curtains to soften
 the room a bit.

They affixed the wooden crabs to painting

 canvas to make them stand out more and

 have a 3 dimensional look.....which turned 

out great.

They really make a statement in the room.

The next wall has their closet with the 

Beach House sign over the door.  Really

 like that their closet doors completely

 open out, a very nice feature. As ours
slide, so you can only see one side at
a time.

on the other side of the closet doors

she just hung some hats that matched

her colors, which I thought was a 
clever idea, and went perfectly with 
their beachy theme.

This is the wall that the entry door is on,

the door is just to the left,  and they added

this neat clock (which was hubbies before

they married, and the Dolphin fish or 
some call them Mahi Mahi fish was made

by her hubbies Mom from a dried palm

frond. Isn't it cute....she did a great job

on it.....as it really looks like a dolphin
fish, and I know cause I caught a 14 pd. 
one when I was a kid, an it scared me
 too death as it was almost as big as me.

Then they added this plaque that has
 hooks and a basket on it,  and you can't
see it very well, but there is a liscense 
plate in the basket and a lil bag with 
something beachy on it, can't remember 
what now....lol  Also I think we must
 have knocked that plaque a lil off  bal-
ance, but didn't notice it until looking 
at the pic now....also think the vase
 was further out from the chest as well.  
(Took this one pic right before we left
 and was kinda hurrying, so didn't check
it out very well  lol). 
Thought it was a cute addition to add

the floppy hat on top of the vase and

the fishing pole and bamboo in the

corner.  All of these items she already

had too, along with the very chippy

chest of drawers.

So we thought it was a very fun room,

bright and cheery and definitely beachy

like the rest of their home, 
 and share worthy.

A Wise Woman Builds Her Home

Part 4, of Lets tour my daughter's house

Happy Tuesday,  Happy Spring,

Sweet Friends,

Hope this finds you well and enjoying

some Spring - Oops, started to say 

Spring Weather.....

 but do know that some of you still have 

snow and very cold temps yet. 

So.... Sorry about that!!

Know you are probably beyond

ready for some Spring weather.

We had a nice Spring dinner out on

 the porch, but as soon as we finished 

din din we went inside, cause it was

 actually pretty chilly by 6:45 .....

Well, today is part 4 of the tour of

my Daughters home,  and it will 

be the last segment till we visit 

again..........cause this is as far as

I got with picture taking!!  lol

 I am gonna start with their Mermaid
over the entrance to their hallway.

They have a long hallway which

 ends where the new build took 
place on the house......

Here is a wall arrangement she and I did

 together last Fall on our first visit...........

She wanted to do a wall with family 

photos, and she had a great idea.....

She had these wood plaques which you

will see at the end of the hall, and had

the great idea to attach mirrors/frames

to them. We decided to paint these

 plaques white, but the others she left

 the natural color.  You will see them

coming up soon.

You can see this arrangement as

you come out of her mudd room.

Now we are in The Mudd room

Here is the other side with all the

 cabinets and storage space.............

This sign describes her lil dog, Rosie

 to a T, cause if she loves you, she wants

to lick you too death...........and for a

long while since she was the closest

 thing we had to a grandchild we were 

quite okay with that and still are.....lol
She is just our furry grandaughter now.

So Hubby and I saw this sign some-

where, can't remember where now,

 as it was a while back, think it was in 

Asheville and we could not resist

 getting it for her.... cause we both
died laughing when we saw it....
Dee used to have it hanging right 
over her  doggie bowls........

but if you look closely at the hook on

 the wall, this is now the perfect spot!!  lol

That hook was already there when they

 moved in. How funny is that!!

So cute!!

 out the mudd room door here.

Next up
right after the mudd room....

is her adorable whale....just love 

this lil guy.......

Then next door to your left

is..................

The Guest Bath....
 She already had all the accessories
for this bathroom from their home

in Asheville, and fortunately, they 
worked perfectly with her coastal
 theme for this home too.

All the subway tile and marble is 
so pretty in here too.........

This lil sign that sits on the back

of the potty..... just cracks me up!!

Here is a shot of the opposite side 

of the bath, in the mirror

and Isn't this cute floor tile..........

it is white, but in certain light it looks 

like pastel colors...to me anyway.

Across the hall from the guest bath 

is their guest bedroom and a linen 

closet.

The lil sailboat is on down the 

hall after the guest bath and on the

 same side of the hall.

This is at the end of the hallway.

Remember the wood plaques....

well, here are the other 2 still in

their natural state with the mirrors

attached.  She painted the mirrors

as well as the frames in the other

pic earlier, forgot to say that!!  lol

Honestly, this pic doesn't do her 

wall decor justice,....but in real life 

when you look down the hall it 

makes such a dramatic impact.....

really love how it looks. Just now

thinking if I had turned the other

lights in the hall off, and just left

the ones in that area on you would

see what I am talking about.

oh well............lol

Here is the end of the Hallway

 and the end of the tour.....

 If you go right that is their office,  

and if you go left it is their Master

 Bed and Bath and big walk in closet, 

that was all built on to the home

during the renovations.

Hello Sweet Friends,

Welcome to Thankful Thursday

Hope you are having a joyful day!

Have to say we are.....we have our Daughter with us

for a few days, so we savor every minute with our 

grown up girl since it  is only for a few days, but a

 few days is definitely better than NO days!  lol

Pictures today are purely for a good laugh.

 I think they are so cute and so humorous, and

I don't even like frogs really.............

On with my Thankfuls...............

Thankful that I finally decided to try a chemical free weed

 killer, and best of all it works!!  I have seen the recipe online in

 a number of places, but a friend from church put it on facebook, 

 and I said yea, it sounds great, but does it really work,  and

 another friend said it does,  just make sure to do it on a sunny

 day.  So I did make it and try it and within a few hours those

 weeds were looking wilted and a few hours later they were all

 brown and dead looking.  Amazing!

Recipe:

1 Gal Vinegar

1 Cup of Salt (I used table salt, someone else said they used epsom salt)

1 tablespoon of dish soap (I used Dawn)

and don't forget the Sunny Day!!

Add ingredients to a spray bottle.  Gently shake it,  then spray away.

Thankful for kind people sightings.  We had 2 in one day....

we and lil darling had gone for frozen yogurt, and a person in a

 car went out of her way to say something nice, and then later

 that evening we went to dinner and a lady in the restroom said

 something nice to lil darling, as well.  You could tell with both

 of them,  they were being purposeful in trying to just connect

 with others.........I love that!  It is just so needed. We also,

 go out of our way to do that!

Thankful that lil darling is going to visit her Aunt Dina 

 (our Daughter)for about 4 1/2 days, and then Dee will

 bring her back and spend a few days with us. Lil darling is

 beyond excited,  she has been waiting for this to happen for well

 over a month now.  Aunt Dina is just as excited. So know they

 are gonna have a fun time!!

Thankful I have all my Father's Day cards done,

and printed,  just have to print hubbies yet when he

is not around,  Which is hard to do...lol

Thankful we put 3 new cards in our shop this week

as well.

Thankful that we laid a few peel and stick carpet tiles

 in our garage where we come into the kitchen, so since they

are stuck down should prevent what happened a few months

 back, and also can catch any dirt coming in on our shoes 

again, since hubby removed the rug after my fall.

Thankful for cute lil Ibis birds that visit us at 

times.  They are pretty birds and love to dig in

our yard for breakfast or dinner.  Had 4 tonight.

Thankful that we got to watch the K-Love awards,

on TBN on Sunday Evening. It is really such

 an uplifting and joyful event. I love the way every

one is encouraging and cheering each other on in 

their walk of faith.  It's how it should be.....all

the time everywhere that we as believers should be

cheering each other on in our faith walk.

Thankful that we did our carpet cleaning in

our bedroom. We do it ourselves with our 

carpet cleaner. Bedroom carpeting looks great.

Thankful for steady plodding which means more

 work done in the yard this week.  We are making

progress, tho it seems slow at times. lol

Thankful guest bed and bath room are both

 all fresh and ready for our Daughters visit.  

Can't  Wait to see her!

Thankful our Daughter and lil darling made 

the trip here safe and sound.

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - January 28, 2010

Hello Sweet Friends,

and Welcome to Thankful Thursday....

Well, It has been a good day, a gorgeous day to be exact,

 just like yesterday but 70 degrees today.

*

I did go sit out in the sun yesterday and it felt like I had

died and gone to Heaven!  Seriously, it felt so good!

and this afternoon I opened windows and it has been

so nice having them open, it feels like springtime!

I am thankful for

 the Heavenly Weather!!

*

Have been a bit busy today,  went with my sister-in-law

to the Drs., then went to the grocery store,  then came

home put stuff away,  then we exercised and had a very

late lunch,  so I don't need to make dinner tonight.

I am thankful

I was available to go with Susan today and that nothing

crazy happened like with hubby!!

I am thankful

for exercise and what it does for us,  and I actually liked

it today,  I always like it when we can do it earlier in the

day,  I seem to have more energy,  and then it frees up

our night as well.

I am thankful for

having the evening off from cooking!

 I am thankful

that I am going to see a friend tonight of over 28 years,

 and going over to see her at her daughters too,  so I get

 to see her, her mom, her daughter and grandaughter,

  how is that ...............4 generations all at once.

 How neat is that!  Should be a lot of fun!

 *

We are going to be seeing some changes around

her very soon, maybe this weekend even.  Scott,

our son, has found a nice apartment and he

 and Joey (our grandaughter dog) will be moving

 on with their lives.  He is very excited about it.

*

We knew he was going looking at apartments

last weekend but we had no idea he would

find one and sign up for it and be moving so

quickly,  so at first I was a lil sad,  because of

course, we are gonna miss them, but then

I thought you know what you need to change

that attitude,  this is a very good thing,  and

you need to be happy about it cause you

don't raise your children to keep them,

you raise them to launch them!

*

Then I started thinking about that it will

be nice to have a guest room once again,

and to be able to set up my sewing machine

in there, so I can use it anytime I want.

So things started to look better, if

you know what I mean!!  lol

*

It is also neat because he will be living

just around the corner from his sister,

and they are both thrilled about it.

*

I am thankful

that he is healed enough to be moving

on with his life. (for those of you who

missed it months ago,  Thanksgiving

of 2008 his wife of 5 years,  just up and

 decided she no longer wanted to be married),

and because of a lot of complications to do

with that that was why he was back with us.

I am thankful that he has found a very nice

apt. near his sissy, and they are so delighted

about it.  She is good friends with his new

girlfriend as well.

I am thankful

that we are gonna have a guest room again and can

invite some friends of ours that live in Tampa, that need

a break at times,  cause they have their daughter

 and grandchildren living with them.

  So that is a fun thing to look forward to!

I also will be able to invite my late brothers wife and

my neice to visit as well,  cause she has been wanting

us to get together.

I am thankful

I will be able to have my sewing machine available

all the time,  accept when company comes, of course!

And I do need to finish my dust ruffle for the other side

of my bed,  and make curtains for my bedroom and

bathroom,  and probably the living room too!

So that will be a very good thing!

that the Lord get ahold of me when I want to feel

sorry for myself or melancholy about things,

 and he basically says, knock it off......

You need to straighten up that attitude!

And it's true it is my choice!

It's like Joyce Meyer said the Lord told her once,

 and I just love this...............

"You can be pitiful or powerful, 

 but you can't be both"

Is that not a powerful statement of truth!.

Not that we want miss him or Joey, or shouldn't

 miss them but this is a positive move for Scott

 in the right direction,  so we should be

 applauding and encouraging him in it!

I am thankful

that we had this opportunity to live under

the same roof again, and that the Lord did some

work in our family that needed to be done,

 as well. We never in a million years thought we

 would ever have him in our daily lives again.

I am thankful

that it went so well.....................That is

sort of amazing to have an adult child live

with you and have it goes as well as it did.

And for that we are eternally gratetful to

our Lord, as only He could accomplish that!
