WELCOME TO HEART TIPS TUESDAY - SUMMER BREAKFAST

AFTERNOON SWEET FRIENDS
*
HOW ARE YOU TODAY???
*
HAVING A GOOD DAY, I HOPE!!
*
OUR'S HAS BEEN GOOD BUT CAN'T BELIEVE
IT IS ALMOST 4:30 ALREADY.  SOMEONE
PLEASE TELL ME WHERE DO THESE DAYS GO
 TO SO QUICKLY!! LOL
*
TOLD YOU I WOULD SHOW YOU MY SUMMER
BREAKFAST I HAVE BEEN EATING LATELY,
IT IS HEART HEALTHY AND ENERGIZING,
AND DELIGHTFUL.... I MIGHT ADD.
*

*
Here's a sneak peak,  can you guess what it is???
*
It is my favorite fruit smoothie for about the last
30 years.  My kids loved this smoothie too!
So try it out on your kiddies,  and bet they
will love it too!!
*

*
I eat it with weight watchers string cheese,
and those crispy crackers I showed
you awhile back, that I got a Sam's club.
*
The ingredients are:
A banana
equal amount of fresh or frozen strawberries
equal amounts of fresh, frozen or canned peaches
a small amount of coconut (a tblsp maybe)
almonds or pecans
2-3 ice cubes
1/2 cup water

Put all ingredients in a blender or a magic bullet
and whirl for a minute or so,  and
ENJOY!!!

I actually like it a lil bit chunky so I can eat
it with a spoon, and I love that it is pretty
filling, so it stays with you and makes me
feel great!!
*
Have a Happy, Healthy Evening
My Friends,
Blessings, Hugs and Good Eating,
Nellie

  4. Looks delicious! I noticed you mentioned frozen strawberries and peaches; did you freeze the bananas? I'm going to try flavoring it with that delicious frozen yogart you have, to see if it gives it a "thicker" feel to the tongue.

Did you get the crispy crackers at Wal-Mart? I need to get me some more. They are delicious!

I saw on the news where they are now saying that chicken causes more weight gain than beef. (It must be because it is the dark meat and they leave the skin on, breading it and frying it.) They reported nutritionists are now saying that high fiber(nuts and grains), fruit and vegetables diets with little or no meat is best. The report was done on a controlled group of people with this kind of diet.

You know, it seems the pendulum is always swinging on this topic. Before, they said to stay away from alot of grains due to the fact they are a starch that turns into sugar and then stored as fat in your system. Then they come out with eating animal meat causes arterial blockage. So, if we did what they said, we wouldn't be eating anything, ha!

To tell you the truth, I don't think it has so much to do with what you eat (in moderation), but the stress of this day and age. There was also another report done on the many things that stress can do to the body. Weight gain as well as arterial blockage were some of the main side effects (and not what they were eating. It was a controlled group situation where stress and food intake was monitored.

Each person's body is different and responds to different things in different ways. What happens to one doesn't always happen to another. Look at mom's friend, Rose. She is in her mid 80's, has always been over 400 pounds (since mom knew her), and a smoker! Her genetics must be very strong to care for what today's doctors say will kill you by age 60 if not younger.

Alice, being a nurse, has said many times that some surgeries are done that don't need to be done; as well as some meds being prescribed that don't need to be. (Look at what my doctor did putting me on the meds 6 months ago.) I told him the reaction was worse than the "cure." He took me off of them and I have been fine, even better due to the effects they caused and I now don't have. Mom was put on Avandia as well as Zocor and now there are lawsuits against the pharmaceuticals because of these drugs causing strokes, heart attacks and death. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't what caused mom's death.

The LORD has said He knows the number of hairs on our head (Jim? Ha!) and the number of our days on earth. I give Him the Glory to Guide my life as He sees fit with the Holy Spirit's leading. I have made a choice to not allow stress to "control" me anymore and that the worry that causes stress is sin. May His strength and blessings guide us all!
    I love you all,
    Susie

  5. Okay, we have definitely been thinking the same because I have been on a smoothie kick the past two weeks and having one for breakfast almost daily. Only I just use yogurt, 70 calories, a piece of fruit and a bunch of ice and a splash of juice. Great, huh? I've been using those individual servings of either peaches or pineapple, packed in fruit juice of course, or a banana or whatever I have! I think I'm probably getting smoothies for about 200 calories, if that much. Love, love, love them. I may throw some coconut in my next one!! Enjoy!

  6. Nellie, I love the new look to your blog! It's gorgeous! I think that smoothie looks great...and it reminded me, I am chilling the mix (homemade) for homemade ice cream...I need to go put it in the ice cream maker so we can have it for dinner tonight. I appreciate your blog and as I've said before, your positive outlook on life. I am still job-wanting (full-time) but I'm not very motivated to look. It is so nice to be home more this summer. I have a huge garden to care for (reminds me, I need to harvest broccoli...)...always something to do plus I blog, comment, peruse other blogs quite a bit. I really enjoy that. Time to go make ice cream! Have a great weekend, Nellie and my best to you and your family!
    Love, Beth
