WELCOME TO THANKFUL THURSDAY - AUGUST 19. 2010

GOOD MORNING TO YOU
SWEET FRIENDS!!

HOW ARE YOU TODAY??

HOPE THIS FINDS YOU HAPPY AND HOPEFUL.
THAT WOULD CERTAINLY BE MY PRAYER
 FOR YOU.

I AM FEELING HAPPY AND HOPEFUL TODAY.

YESTERDAY WAS A GOOD DAY, HAVE BEEN
WORKING A LIL BIT EVERYDAY IN MY WALK
IN CLOSET, CAUSE I HAD SOME PAPER PILES
AND JUST CLUTTER IN THERE, AND IT WAS
BECKONING TO ME EVERY TIME I OPENED
THE DOOR, BUT I HAD NOT SUCOMBED TO
IT'S CALLING YET.

SO JESSICA, OVER AT JEWELS FOR THE
JOURNEY, DID A POST RECENTLY ABOUT
CLUTTER, AND I KNEW THE TIME HAD COME.

STILL HAVE MORE TO GO, BUT I AM HALF
WAY THERE..........AND IT LOOKS SO MUCH
 BETTER ALREADY. WHICH JUST HELPS
SPUR ME ON MORE.  CAN'T WAIT TO DO
SOME MORE TODAY.

SO GUESS MY
#1
I AM THANKFUL
IS TO FINALLY BE TACKLING THIS JOB I
HAVE BEEN PROCRASTINATING ON.  TO
ME, IT IS THE BEST FEELING TO FINALLY BE
ACCOMPLISHING SOMETHING YOU KNOW
NEEDS DOING, BUT YOU REALLY DON'T WANT
TO DO, AND WHEN YOU DO.... YOU FEEL LIKE
YOU HAVE REALLY GAINED A VICTORY IN
SELF CONTROL!  AND LAST TIME I CHECKED,
THAT IS ONE OF THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT,
SO THAT IS A VERY GOOD THING!!
*
#2
I AM THANKFUL
THAT WE STARTED COUNSELING ANOTHER
YOUNG COUPLE LAST EVENING, AND THAT
THEY HAVE GREAT HEARTS AS WELL!!
CAUSE GOD CAN DO SUCH AMAZING THINGS
WITH 2 PEOPLE THAT HAVE WILLING HEARTS.

JIM AND I HAVE TALKED, WONDERED AND
PRAYED QUITE A FEW TIMES ABOUT
 MENTORING YOUNG COUPLES, BUT THE
LORD JUST NEVER GAVE US THE CLEAR
 DIRECTION TO DO IT BEFORE.
SO WE ARE BEYOND EXCITED!!
*
#3
I AM THANKFUL
THAT I WAS ABLE TO RECONNECT WITH
A VERY SPECIAL LADY AND FRIEND THAT USED
TO ATTEND OUR CHURCH YEARS AGO.
I HAPPENED TO SEE A COMMENT FROM HER
 ON BECKY'S BLOG
FROM OVER  AT HOLIDAY IN THE SUN, AND
CONTACTED HER.
HER NAME IS PATTI
AND YOU CAN CLICK HERE
TO CHECK OUT HER BLOG, IF YOU WOULD
 LIKE................  IT IS QUITE LOVELY.
*
(THIS WAS THE SIGN  HANGING OVER THE TABLE..... DID A BEACH THEMED TABLE
SINCE DEE LOVES THE BEACH,  WILL SHOW YOU IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO)
*
#4
I AM THANKFUL
THAT WE COULD ALL GET TOGETHER AS A
 FAMILY TO CELEBRATE DEE'S BIRTHDAY
LAST SUNDAY.  FORGIVE ME, IF YOU ARE
SICK OF HEARING ABOUT IT, BUT THAT
SORT OF THING RARELY HAPPENED IN MY
FAMILY AS A KID, ACCEPT WHEN I WAS
WITH MY DAD IN THE SUMMER.  I HAD A
ITALIAN STEP-MOM AND 4 STEP SIBLINGS,
AND I THOUGHT IT WONDERFUL THAT SHE
HAD THESE GREAT CELEBRATIONS FOR
EVERYONES BIRTHDAY AND HOLIDAYS.

MY POOR MOM WAS TOO BUSY WORKING
SHIFT WORK AT MONSANTO IN ORDER
TO SUPPORT US, AND THEN OF COURSE,
 HAD THE NORMAL HOUSEHOLD DUTIES
AND THE YARD TO CONTEND WITH,
AND ANYTHING ELSE A HUBBY WOULD
DO, AND ALSO HAD BACK TROUBLE
AND DEPRESSION ON TOP OF IT..

SO YOU SEE THIS BLESSING OF FAMILY
TIME AND CELEBRATIONS IS SOMETHING
OF MOMENTOUS PROPORTION TO ME.

I AM THANKFUL
FOR THIS GORGEOUS SUNSET WE SAW
A FEW NITES AGO, THAT REMINDED US
THAT EVERY CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING.

SEE THE RAINBOW LOOK.... UP TOWARDS THE RIGHT SIDE.
I REALLY DIDN'T THINK THE CAMERA WOULD CAPTURE IT,  BUT WAS

SO GLAD IT DID.  THOUGHT IT WAS SO PRETTY, HAD TO SHOW
IT TO YOU TOO!)

#6
I AM THANKFUL
FOR THE DOVES WE HAVE BEEN SEEING IN
OUR YARD LATELY, AND LOVE THAT LIL
NOISE THEY MAKE AS THEY FLY AWAY,
JUST LIKE ON "TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL"
I REALLY HAVE MISSED THAT SHOW TOO!

(THIS IS A CUTE LIL DOVE SITTING ON OUR BIRDBATH)
IF YOU CLICK ON THE PIC YOU CAN SEE HIM BETTER

(HERE THEY ARE DRYING OFF ON THE ELECTRICAL LINES)
YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD GET ZAPPED!

ALL RIGHT ON TARGET. THE SPIRIT OF
 GOD
 TEACHES US ALL THINGS.
HOW COOL IS THAT!!

  1. I'm thankful for all the thankfulness that flows from your heart! I, too, have tackled a few projects that were "hanging over my head" -- and I am thankful for progress and completed projects (in a few instances)!

  2. What a lovely post, Nellie. A thankful heart is a beautiful heart. And you know what, even when we don't think we have things to be thankful for, if we just pause and look around, we can easily find dozens. We learned that lesson during a long period of unemployment, when things were bleak...God led me to do a thanks journal, and I was able to be thankful even during what appeared to be very bleak times.

I, too, am thankful to have reconnected with you (Becky too). Truly, it was a blessing I NEVER expected.

That sunset photo is beyond gorgeous!! I love it.

I'm saying a quick prayer right now for your son and that job.

And, yes, as one who lives far away from family and yet yearns to be close, I think it's amazingly wonderful that y'all were able to get together for a birthday celebration for Dee.

You talked about being hopeful. That is why I use the username of A Hopeful Heart. As I have prayed over some impossible-looking situations, God always reminds me to "keep a hopeful heart." Hope is such an anchor word in my life...in fact, my dear husband made me a beautiful wall plaque with the word "hope" in calligraphy.

    Have a lovely day.

    Hugs,
    Patti

  6. I know what you mean!!!
#1. I have been tackling my clothes hamper. I no sooner wash several loads and it's as if the "pile" doesn't seem to get smaller!! Ha!
#2. I may need some of your counseling after just one day with 2 of my kinderboys!
#3. Love the beach theme! Although I don't think I would want to goes to our beaches right now as hot as it is, lol!
#4. I surely enjoy hearing about your parties (even though I am happily apart, thank you!!!)
#5. Your pictures of the blue sky are gorgeous!
And yes, the rainbow is a really neat effect!
#6 & 7. I just love the birds. Since I have such an open area, I don't have too many of the insect eaters. I usually have the hawks from the lakes around the area.
#8. I am so glad ministries have been placed on dvds. I really like to watch John Hagee's and Jack and Rexella Van Impe's ministries.
#9. I don't drink coffee anymore :-( except when I come to visit you. I didn't drink that much coffee before, but my doctor told me to stay away from caffine. So, next visit, I'll try your creamer!
#10. I will definately be praying for Scott. It seems they have "strung" him along on this hiring. I'm sure the LORD has His reasons.
#11. His vacation has come at the right time for him to get ready for his new job!!
#12. If she doesn't get a chance to read it, we'll hold her to it next year!!
    I love you all,
    Susie

  8. Hi Nellie,
I have soo missed you, and it is great to be back visiting you again.
I always enjoy reading your TT, and it is great to catchup . What an awesome ministry to be able to counsel young couples who are venturing out on this road of life together.I will pray for you and your dh as you obey the Lord.
Your photos are great, I too have had some doves visiting close by lately, aren't they the sweetest looking birds?
Hope your weekend is filled with many blessings.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  10. Hi Nellie,

I am glad you liked the tour of Filoli Gardens. I agree with you about that Butler's Pantry. So opulent, isn't it? I hope you enjoy Heaven Can Wait with that little extra history behind it.

Sorry you missed out on Mamma Mia...be sure and reorder if you haven't seen it.

I cannot believe how much our lives parallel each other. Right now Jim and I are also working with a young couple that is really struggling with poverty, depression, unemployment and a myriad of other things.
It is rewarding to be able to help a little but in this family it is multi-generational dysfunction so it is a tough one. I know you must be so good at helping the couples you are working with.

There is a wealth of knowledge to be had for young people that will listen to the things older couple have learned, survived, etc.

Oddly this is not all. I also love and go all out for the birthdays and holidays because we didn't have a lot of that either. My grandmother died when my mom was five and the kids were shipped from pillar to post all their growing up years. She just didn't ever have it so it was hard for her to incorporate it into our family.

I am beginning to think we are soul mates, Nel!

    Love you....Bon
