Welcome to Thankful Thursday - May 1st, 2014

Praise the Lord, O my soul
and forget not all his benefits
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and
compassion
who satifies your desires with good
things, so that your youth is renewed
like the eagle's
Psalm  103:2-5

Greetings Sweet Friends,

I am a bit late cause I was out a
 good portion of the day yesterday,
then talked with Dee once I got
back,  so finished the thankfuls
up last night, but too tired to do
this part and the pictures, then
slept in some............but better
late than never, as they say!!

So....how are you???

I am doing fine, just in utter disbelief that we can
be in May already..........and Belated Happy May
Day to you all.

Very happy that we are getting some rain,  as it is
 cooling our temps off some.  It is still 80,  but that is
 better than 96 degrees,
(Sorry Caroline - lol)
Was out on the porch earlier and even tho it is
80, it's still breezy and feels wonderful,  just love
this time of year out on the porch.  One of my
fav things to do is read and pray out there but
spring and late Fall or early Winter is about
the only time you can really stand it out there.

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying Spring.....

So on with my list. I will let it do the talking........

I am thankful

#1
for all the ways the Lord meets our needs
and encourages us all the time,  but especially
during hard times.............

#2
that DeeAnna has a job now at a great realty
 company that is right downstairs from where
 they live.  She is going thru training right now,
 as well as working 2 days in mammography still.
I love there motto:
"It is we work to live, not live to work"

#3
that Dee will be coming for a visit some time
 later in May.

#4
for some awesome revelations about things
my Mom taught me, as I grew up, that I just never
 really thought about since our relationship was
so troubled since my mid to late 20's due to a
a tragic incident she had happen, that led to
 her late in life alcohol addiction and bitterness.
Think they came due to a book I had been read-
ing, "The Mother Gap" and another situation.
Might decide to do a post on it soon.

#5
for the gift of grandparenting.................
It's like a friend of mine says "if we would
have known it was gonna be so much fun
we would have done it first"... lol
and
we had such a good time as always with our
lil darling this week.

6
that hopefully I got my last crown at the
 dentist for a very long time...............Most
of the work I have had done was replacing
 work I had done when I was 16 yrs.old,  and
 has lasted 43+ years,  so if the new stuff last
as long as the old stuff I should be in heaven
by then and not have to worry about it...
 A very happy thought to me!!   lol

#7
that I had my old dental asst. from our old
dentist office today,  she quit at the old place
and is now filling in at my new dentist office
 for awhile, since someone is on maternity leave.
  It was so nice to see her again and we had some
 nice conversations in between procedures. She
 also might visit our church, and I am hoping she
 becomes a permanent employee there.

#8
for a sweet story I read about today about a High
School boy,  who took his Great Grandmother of 89
 yrs.old and who walks with a cane to his HS Prom,
because she never got to go to Prom.  He was a
very nice looking young man, and loves his grand -
mother so much,  he even wrote a song for her and
played it on the guitar as he sang.........It showed a
 picture of him walking her in as they announced
 each couple and showed them dancing a slow
 dance together........so precious....just made me
 cry........what an amazingly unselfish young man.

#9
for a good laugh we got from a funny comment
 we just listened to by politician Allen West. He
said someone was "Stuck on Stupid"  and we
died laughing, and said we could make a lil
song out of that to the tune of the bandaid
commercial years back, "We are He is stuck on
Bandaids Stupid,  cause Bandaids stupid's
 stuck on us  him"  lol
Has a nice ring to it......don't you think...lol

#10
for our sweet neighbor across the street who
came over to check to see if everything was
 okay.  She saw hubby leave for work then
came outside and saw he was back but his
car door was open,  and didn't think much
about it,  but came out about an hour later
and it was still open, so she thought maybe
something was wrong with me, and he had
rushed home and forgot to shut his door.
So she decided she had better come and
check on us.....so sweet to know you have
a neighbor like that looking out for you,
and it saved us a dead battery.................

#11
that our grand daughter dog, Rosie is doing fine
after being put out to have her toofers cleaned,
  she is about 10 or so years old, so you get a lil
nervous about having them put to sleep especially
 since she is so tiny........a lil chijuajua...............
.so we were all happy about that!!

#12
for friends..... meaning longtime friends
that live away and friends nearby and
blogging friends.  Yall are all a blessing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for coming by...........
Would love for you to leave a
 comment saying something you are
 especially thankful for this week.
Have a lovely and hopefully warm
weekend with your family/ friends
 and/or furry friends
See ya next week!
Love, Hugs,
and lovely May Blessings,
Nellie
Just to say Hello and some Spring decor photos
Howdy Sweet Friends,
Hope this finds you well and.....
 doing good.  So how was your
weekend?  Good I hope!
Our's was pretty good once we got Friday night
meeting over with..........it was difficult and
painful, yet I believe needed and profitable
and hopefully will prove to be beneficial in
the future..........
Saturday I felt rather beat
up but the Lord is amazing how He can rally
people around you when you need them the
most.  On Sat. we got a surprise visit from
 some dear friends of 33 years that we have
 not seen for a few years, altho, we do talk to
fairly often.  They had come to our area for
another reason, and called to see if we were
 home!!  Sooo very happy we were..........
They are some of our dearest friends!
 and then later another surprise visit from a
 friend here in town, bearing the biggest most
gorgeous hydrangea blossom, I have ever laid
 eyes on. These visits could not have been more
well timed, So thankful for these folks who hear
 the Lord's promptings and obey. God's timing is
 always so amazing...........and such a blessing.
Sunday was our typical Sunday....
and Monday I was very energized and ready
to get something accomplished around here,
since I sorta took last week off........at least
in some ways.  lol  So have been a busy girl
these last 2 days,  but decided to take some
time to do a post today.  Thought I would
just show you some of my spring decor since
 I only showed you the Easter ones. I will
 be putting the Easter things away on Friday
probably, after our lil darling is here. Figured
I would let her enjoy them a lil longer.........
With posterized affect
Forgot it still had the Happy Easter Sign on it.
This wreath and the pic below are from my foyer,
she is holding a pink hydrangea,
if it is hard to tell.............lol
All the other pictures are from my white living room,
 that I decided to do in pink and white for a
Spring change..............
Was out on the porch today for awhile,  but by the
 time it got to 90 which was about 10,  I looked
 around the back yard and thought this looks more
 like a cloudy Summer day, rather than a Spring day!!
Hope it doesn't stick around a lot longer.....just not
 ready for those Sweltering Summer temps yet!!  lol
The pitcher on the left sitting on the shelf
 was a new find this spring  and can't even
 remember where I found it right now.!!  lol
Maybe at the Christmas store.............hmmm.....
Thanks for coming by ...............
Always great to hear from you!
Welcome to Thankful Thursday - April 24th, 2014
 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
 In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living
 hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
 from the dead,
1 Peter 1:3
Greetings Sweet Friends,
Hope you have all had a nice
restful week after all the festivities
 surrounding Easter.............
I sure have!!  Been enjoying the Easter food leftovers
and bird nest treats, the  porch and the sun, reading,
 talking with my daughter, my new computer, since it
 is so much faster, catching up on some blog reading
and leaving comments, making birthday cards for 3 of
our sunday school students, and getting out of the
 house some. I did do some work this week.....
 but not a whole lot............lol
I needed some down time..............Sometimes a
 girl has to do,  what a girl has to do!   lol
Since Easter hasn't been over that long,  thought I
would show you some of my Easter decorations
 before I change 'em out for  Spring decorations.
Love this figurine that was given to be my a
neighbor/friend who is in heaven now.
So on with Thankful Thursday as well.......
I am thankful
#1
For a nice Easter celebration,  good food, and fun
 decorations,  but Most of all for the reason we
 Celebrate.....Our Risen Saviour.
#2
for our new computer I am typing on today,
#3
for my techie hubby, or else I couldn't even
have a computer. He has done an awesome
job of restoring everything from the old to
the new computer.  Has just one more thing
to go..........
#4
for the wisdom the Lord gives my techie
hubby as well,  cause he has led him to lots
of info that have helped solve a lot of problems
 in the process.
Plastic eggs are for Brooklyn
#5
for a new way to clean the soap scum off our
 bathroom tile, that is amazing.........I read about
 it somewhere months ago, but just remembered
on Monday to try it..........
 (might have been in a Real Simple email I get)
It is a clothes dryer sheet........just dampen and
wipe the tiles, you don't even have to scrub it
hard or anything,  and the scum comes right off.
Then rinse, I used hot water.
You can do about 2 tiles to a dryer sheet.
Try it you won't believe it,  and then you don't
have to use those harsh stinky cleaners.
and the shower looks Great!!
Brooklyn's lamb we bought her on the way to
 the hospital before she was born. It sings if
 you;re happy and you know it clap your hands,
  and he claps his hands!  So cute!
#6
that we got to go see "Heaven is for Real" Tuesday
night.  It was really good...........we have read the
book and it goes into a lot more detail as to what
that family went thru when the lil boy got sick,
way more than what they show in the movie.
But it was till an awesome movie.  Another
highly recommended movie, in theaters now.
#7
for some sunshine,  it has been very overcast and
 cloudy the last week,  so was very happy to be
able to get out there and get my Vitamin D
and work on my tan.
#8
for our new sidewalks.  We have had them for
awhile, but went for a walk this morning and the
 sun was shining bright and it was 60 degrees,
but felt like 80 in the sun, but up the street
from our house the sidewalks were all shaded
and it was nice and breezy so I just walked
up and down in that area,  it was great!!
Dee's bunny from when she was little.
#9
for a much  needed  meeting that should take place on
 Friday evening.
#10
for vitamins and probiotics that help to keep me well
 and feeling good.
With Posterized affect
#11
for a another really great story I read on yahoo
 news Wed.  A lil 10 yr. old boy was abducted in Ga.,
the man cursed at him and told him to not say word,
so he started singing a gospel song called "Every Praise",
all while the abductor was calling him nasty names and
telling him to shut up!
He sang it for 3 hrs., and the abductor finally put him
out of the car, totally unharmed!  Isn't that the coolest
thing you ever heard..........
and there is more the man that wrote the song Hezakiah
 Walker was so touched that the lil boy thought to sing his
 song at such a terrible time, and felt like God spoke
 through him and saved that child's life that he came
 to his church and sang the song for him on his brithday.
If you would like to hear the song, which is a great
 song by the way............just click here.
This is just his music video of it.
#12
that I finished my friends book.......
"The Mother Gap",
It was an excellent and heartwarming read.  Jessica is
a very gifted writer, and it is easy reading, and very
descriptive,  a very enjoyable book.  It is about the
victory that came out of living life with an alcoholic
mother.  I know it had to be cathartic for her!
Very well done!
Now I can go do a review for her on Amazon.com
Her book is being sold on Amazon. com, if you
 are interested in reading it, as I would highly
recommend it.  The ending is very heart warming.
Well, here's another week
 of Thankfuls..............
So happy you stopped by..............
and hope you say hello so.....
 I know you were here!!
Love, Hugs,  and
End of April Blessings!
Our Easter Table 2014
Hello Sweet Friends,
Hope you all had a Wonderful Easter
celebrating our
Precious Savior's Resurrection.........
Our's was easy, quiet, relaxing and restful.............
Just what we needed really............I  wound up just
being the 3 of us,  hubby and I and my SIL Susan.
We had some good unlifting conversation praising
our savior all the day long, (as the old song goes)
 good food, and even got to watch a good movie
 called "Smitty",  we all really enjoyed it and would
 highly recommend it, another netflix download.
It was a very good day...........
Unfortunately,  Scott,  Megan and the baby couldn't
 make it this year,  and you will see the table is set for 5,
since I had set it a few days early, so just left it as it was,
 just in case.....something changed..............definitely
 missed seeing our lil darling,  but as you can see we
lived through it...........lol
But then I did have these lil Easter Bunny Pictures
 to enjoy!
Got her the bunny ears when we were in Asheville
and we have gotten such a kick out of seeing her in them.
Be still my heart...............lol
Here she  is is last year................
Amazing what a year does.......
So.......now on with the tablescape.........
Started off with this terrarium filled with a  cream pitcher
full of roses, stuck in some moss covered rocks and
a birds nest with a lil pink bird.
to fill up the empty spots at the end of the table.
Here is an overview of my new bunny dish I decided
would be part of the centerpiece.............
and decided to just make some bird's nests,
out of that crinkled paper they used to put in gift
baskets or bags..............
one for each side,  then added the egg candles, egg cups
 and Easter eggs on top of the green round placemats.
Took some Easter towels and folded them to make
placemats. Have always wanted to make some of
those rice krispy treat birds nests but finally got to
do it this year,  instead of rice krispies I used chow
mein noodles cause they look more like sticks.
Saw them online somewhere........anyway,  they
were easy and cute and taste great!
 With posterized affect
A look down the right side of the table
A look from the left side
Pulled my lil hobnail bowls off the mantle for awhile to use
on the end of the table
Nest closeup.............
Overview from the top - simple and colorful
With posterized affect
 With equalized affect
This was Brooklyn nest,  made of puffs and yogurt bites,
not quite as colorful,  but edible for her,  course she
couldn't eat the nest,  just the contents of the nest.
So saving it for her next visit..............
A closeup,  the puff's were perfect since they
looked like flowers.............
Hope you enjoyed your visit,  always fun to share
 our creations with each other...........
So thanks for coming by and be sure to say Hello!
