Thankful Thursday Dec. 29, 2016, Christmas decor 2016

When the angels had left them and gone
 into heaven, the shepherds said to one
 another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see
 this thing that has happened, which the
Lord has told us about.” So they hurried
off and found Mary and Joseph, and
the baby, who was lying in the manger.
 When they had seen him, they spread

 the word concerning what had been
told them about this child,
Luke 2:15-17 NIV

Greetings Sweet Friends,

Hope you have been having a good

week, and still basking in the glow
of our dear Savior's birthday.

It is hard to believe that in just a few
short days we will be entering the
New Year....I always love that it is
like you get a new fresh start again
every year.........
A great time for organizing and de-
cluttering, and making some new
priorities and winter is my favorite
time for cooking as I love one pot
meals like stews, soups and chili's,
and it helps keep the house warm
when it is cold outside, course, so far
 that hasn't been happening much here
 in Florida, but am hopeful that Jan
and Feb. will bring us some much
cooler weather at times...anyway!!
Lately, the weather has been so nice
that we have been hanging out on
the porch a lot so that has been nice.
Think our seasons are confused right
now, cause it seems like we are in the
 Fall season right now.....we are
seeing lots of leaves falling off our
 trees and the weather is warm but
not hot, and it is sometimes breezy
 during the day, and the morning and
 evenings are cool and perfect weather
 many days.  Love it...............

Just threw on a few more Christmas
pics from this year. Guess I best hush,
 and get on with Thankful Thursday...

I am thankful

#1
for a lovely Christmas Service at
church and for a really lovely Christmas
 with the family that was here, Scott,
Megan, Brooklyn and my SIL Susan,
 and hubby of course.............lol

#2
that Dee and Jerry had a really nice day
as well, as I know she always misses
being here especially during the
holidays.

#3
that everything we had for dinner
was delicious and came out just
the way it was suppose to.....
We decided on Ham for a change,
 so made Sweet Potato casserole,
green bean casserole and Waldorf
Salad, Rolls and Sweet Tea.
and we found this fabulous
" Red Velvet Cheese cake" at
 Sam's for dessert. Think it was
 made by cheese cake factory.
 It was really delicious.

#4
for all the lovely cards and gifts
 we received.

#5
for hearing from a neice on facebook,
that I haven't heard from in awhile.....
and had tried to contact....so that was
 a huge blessing to me.............

#6
Also for seeing 2 precious ladies that
don't go to our church anymore, but
were there with family on Christmas
morning.....it was a gift just to see
 them both even for a few mins.

#7
for having hubby home since Dec.
22nd.... for years now, he has taken
 some of his vacation at Christmas
time, so he could be off when the
kids were off from school, and
love that it continues on, even tho
the children are grown and out on
 their own.  We really enjoy this
time so much every year .

#8
for some of the yard work we have
gotten done this week.  Didn't expect
 to be doing that, since he is was on
 vacation, but guess since he feels
 so rested he voluntered.  So that was
 nice, and it really needs doing, cause
typically now, it gets dark so early,
 that we can only do stuff on a
Saturday.......and he knows how
to make his wife a.............
happy girl too!  lol

#9
that we had so much fun with lil
darling on Wed., it is really so nice
when grampy isn't working and can
 play too. Hiding seek is so much
more fun that way.........lol
They also played with kinetic
sand..............

#10
and looking forward to the first
of the year and to begin reading
my new Chronological Bible and
 new devotional book by
 Sara Young called "Jesus Always"
They were a Christmas gift from
 hubby (at my request). I never
knew they had such a thing as a
 chronological Bible until our Pastor
 mentioned it in a sermon some
months back.  It is also set up as a
 read through the Bible schedule
 and only takes 15 mins. a day.

#11
for this cute lil plant stand that you
 see above that my daughter and her
 hubby gave me for Christmas.  It was
on my Christmas wish list as well, and
it is perfect for our foyer, and it is the
 first thing I can say I have ever had
there that I was really tickled about,
 and the white looks so nice with the
living room. This foyer has been one
of my decorating nemesis for years....
It is very hard to work with as it is
 very small and the first wall you
see (which is the impression wall)
is this narrow wall, with this big
 light switch that is in the way of
hanging most pictures or mirrors
and hard to hide on top of that!!
and because the steps go down
right there too, and it is partly tile
and partly carpeting it is very hard
 to find anything that will fit on that
 wall that is not too long or wide.....
Found a white Bombey chest that
was white and I was in love with,
but too wide.............anyway, I am
quite tickled and thankful for the
new look.

#12
that hubby and I are enjoying reading
Chip and Joanna Gaines new book
"The Magnolia Story".  We are about
half way thru the book and it is an
easy and fun read.  We have been
reading a chapter a day,  so it is like
a treat we look forward to..........lol

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glad you could stop by today,
and hope you have a really safe,
 fun and Happy New Years!
and
Keep Your Light Shining
Brightly.........
Love, Hugs, and
Happy New Year Blessings,
Nellie
Simple Christmas Centerpiece Reworked for another Christmas tablescape
Happy Tuesday
 Sweet Friends,
Hope you all had a Wonderful
Christmas!
We sure did.....had a great time
with all the family who lives here,
which is only 6 of us, and we got
to facetime our daughter and hubby.
My hubby has been off on vacation
and will be off till after the New year,
so we have been lazing around sitting
on the porch drinking coffee and plan-
ning what to do in our yard, watching
 reading, eating leftovers, and red velvet
 cheesecake, Yum Yum, and just enjoying
the time together. We did manage to get
 out and do a lil yard work yesterday and
today for about an hour each time, and
made quite a bit of progress which
makes my heart very happy!  So much
trimming and cutting that needs to be
done, as we have woods surrounding
our backyard, and this is a great time of
year to do it as all the grapevine has
died back, and other stuff is dead and
the weather is cooler.
It is like our sanctuary out there....
so very happy for every area that
 looks better after we have
been there..........lol
Thought I would share our table
from Christmas day.....I decided to
just rework my "Simple, inexpensive
table centerpiece from last week"
So I sort of reworked it and made
some changes to it, as it made for
an easier and less stressful time.
So amazing how just a few changes
can give it a new look.
Added red accents this time.
The gifts are all the same other than
I changed all the bows and ribbons
to red rather than green.  Changed
out the mugs and put lil red trees
in them, used the same gold table-
cloth and gold mercury glass votives,
and added lil christmas gift sprinkes.
Added red chargers and red napkins
and red snowflakes.
Added different dinnerware and flatware
 This is lil darling place....see the bunny
silverware and silver cup with some
faux fruit in it to keep her happy.
Love my new salad plates, they were a
Christmas gift from my daughter and
hubby last year.
Used clear goblets this time.
Love that these mugs have lil wreaths
on the front and back of them.
Nice overview
Took too many pics as usual......
and just easier to post them all
that to try and choose. lol
Thanks for coming by.............
Hope you have a good .....
rest of the year!!
Love, Hugs and
Happy New Year Blessings!
Nellie
Merry Christmas and Sunday - quotes to Ponder #5 - Jesus came as a child........
*
Merry
 Merry Merry
**Christmas* *
Sweet Friends
Hope you have a Blessed
 Day celebrating our dear Savior's
Birthday!
I probably wouldn't even share a quote
 for today,  but I just heard it this week and
 it is so fitting for today, so just had to share it.
"Jesus came as a child, born of an earthly
 Mother, so we can become the Children,
of a Heavenly Father"
by Pastor
James Merritt
***************************
This verse below from the bible
 goes right along with the quote.
Today in the city of David a Savior
 has been born to you;
 he is the Messiah, the Lord.
 This will be a sign to you:
You will find a baby wrapped
 in cloths
 and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:11-12
and of course,  John 3:16 goes along
with this quote as well.............
For God so loved the world that
 he gave his one and only Son,
 that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.
Happy Pondering
and
Love, Hugs and
Abundant Christmas Blessings
to you and yours,
Nellie
Thankful Thursday - December 22, 2016, Christmas 2016 #2
 she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.
She wrapped him in cloths and placed
him in a manger, because there was no
 guest room available for them.  And
there were shepherds living out in the
fields nearby, keeping watch over their
 flocks at night. An angel of the Lord
 appeared to them, and the glory of
 the Lord shone around them, and they
 were terrified. But the angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news
 that will cause great joy for all the people.
Today in the town of David a Savior has
 been born to you;
he is the Messiah, the Lord.
Luke 2:7-11
Greetings Sweet Friends.
Wow, we are down to just 3 days now.
Boy, did this time go quickly.
I am thinking about my brother today.
 Today would have been his birthday
 and he would be 69 yrs. old, but he
has spent his last 16yrs. with Jesus,
 as he got his promotion to heaven
after a battle with Lou Gehrigs
disease. Happy Birthday Jerry!!
Hubby started vacation today too,
so that is nice and we can just sort
of enjoy things now, until time to
start preparing food........will be
nice to rest a bit........
Thought I would show you some
 more Christmas decor today.
This carving of Jesus came from
Israel....,my SIL Susan brought it
to us when she went there
 on a tour.
This is a lovely poem called
"The Gift"
that a dear friend wrote
many years ago. Took a pic hoping
 you would be able to read it,
but it didn't come out.  It is about
the real meaning of Christmas
Jesus!
Well, on to the real reason for the post.
I am thankful
 #1
that my daughter and son-in-love
got here safely on last Friday and
 then safely home on Sunday.
#2
for the great time we all had
together celebrating as a family
 on Friday evening.
#3
that her hubby got to come, as they
had a family crisis with his Aunt
while they were here, so they were
able to go up to the hospital and
help out some.
#4
that his aunt seems to be doing
better and things are more hope-
ful than they were first told.
#5
that we had a good time going
to lil darlings Winter dance show
on Sat. and that Dee and Jerry did
get to come for half of it and got to
 see Brooklyn......we thought they
would probably miss it all, but
they came then went back to the
hospital again.............
Brooklyn did a great job, and
she was so cute waving to
Mommy every chance she got.
Here we are with lil darling
afterwards......so nice that
her Mom took some pics
of us with her............
#6
that we made it to our young
married class Christmas party
before anyone left,  as we had
a gift from our class to give our
partners that we have been work-
ing with for almost 3 years now.
We also got to have some fun
with everyone for awhile
before the party was over.
#7
for our partners in that ministry
and will miss them very much,
as they were great to work with
but God has other plans for
them, and they will do
great job.
#8
for our new partners in that same
ministry, they are in their 20's and
are doing a phenomenal job, and
we appreciate them so much too.
God has really blessed us with
both of these couples.
I have had this nativity set for almost
40 yrs. I got it when I was a displayer
for Home Interiors and gifts yrs. ago.
This wood carving was made
and came from Germany.
Mr. Cozy Place brought it back
to me after a work related trip.
#9
that I have Christmas dinner
and the table all planned out,
and my beef stew made for
Christmas eve..............
#10
that I have finished my
 wrapping, cards, ecards and
grocery buying which wasn't too
much as I have been picking up
 things early (and once again
 hubby did that for me) . So that
was all finished on Wed.
Only thing left is the cooking
and table setting, and surprises
 that typcially pop up out of
nowhere!!  lol
#11
for the bright, beautiful, and
cool day we have outside right
now......so gorgeous!
but it is suppose to go to 76
degrees later...........lol
#12
that my daughter passed her South
 Carolina real estate exam and got
 her results back today, we weren't
expecting that..............
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Happy you could stop in for a visit
and hope you enjoyed it.

Hope you have a truly wonderful
Christmas with your family and/
or Friends.

Love, Hugs and
Merry Christmas Blessings,

Nellie
