Tablescape Thursday, Birthday/Christmas table

Hello Sweet Friends,

How are you this fine Wednesday???

Busy as a beaver I'll bet!!

I am sort of on hold right now.............
can't decorate the tree cause hubby ran
into snags with the lights and then we had
to buy a few new strings yesterday but were
out all day and tired when we got home,  so
no work on the tree,  but we did watch a
really great Hallmark movie called "an old
Fashioned Thanksgiving".  I know we are
a lil late on that,  but it was a great movie
in case you want to rent it thru Netflix,  we
highly recommend it!!

Hubby went to a seminar with his old boss
today.  His boss signed him up just in case
he wanted to go.  Can't wait to see what
the Lord is up to in this!!  Probably teaching
on something he needs for his new business
I would be willing to bet!! Well,  not really
bet $$, but you know what I mean!! lol

Well, guess I had better get it together
and talk about Tablescape Thursday
or lose a few people!!  lol

This cute lil gal below is my new
daughter in love to be!

and this post is about her birthday
celebration table.  Her birthday was
really Nov. 29th,  so I tried to make
it not quite so Christmasy and maybe
a lil bit Wedding looking since they
just got engaged and are starting
to plan the Wedding.
So see what you think!!

Thought the green print china looked Christmasy
but like a wedding as well, as all the white !

This was the napkin for the guys plates...
it is a suppose to be a small candle fold.
Got it idea from MarthaStewart.com

This is a view from above the table.
This is the Christmas tree I made from
coffee filters.

I sort of ran out of time and used what
I had to decorate it.  Liked the wreath
around it,  but would have liked to do
something more with the tree itself,  but
haven't figured out quite what yet.

This is the girls placesetting, I added these
beautiful ornaments that a sweet friend
made for me last year!!

another candle fold napkin shot!!

This was my Wedding China from 40 years ago,
just in case you are new to my blog.

This pic was taken at night

This pic was taken in the daylight!!

Got these lovely satin poinsettias years
back at Kmart,  they are from Martha
Stewart Living.  I just love them!!

Here is a closeup of the ruffles on the tree!
No one could believe it was just coffee
filters. Megan said she thought it was
some sort of nice fabric.

This was a closeup of the pick on the wreath.
Loved that I was able to catch some the irridescience
of the bulbs on it!!  It is really even prettier!!

I like the candle shining thru the goblet.

This has a posterized affect on the picture.
Gotta love photoshop!!

This shot is equalized and in film grain.
Love how it made things pink!!

These are repurposed yankee candle lids.
Turn them over pull off the plastic with
needle nose pliers, add some epsom salt
to look like snow and insert candle,  looks
very pretty.......... and you don't need to
throw them away, cause they are quite useful!!

This is also my wedding silverware and crystal.
Love it as much today as the day I picked it!!
Only wish it was dishwasher safe!! lol

Lens flare affect.

This is a stainglass affect!!
thought it was very pretty and different.

I am still trying to figure out where to put this
lil tree next!!

Posterized affect!!

This is a palette knife and posterized affect.

One last look at the tree..........
Can you tell I really like her!!  lol

Well,  sweet friends..........
hope you enjoyed your visit!!

Can't wait to see all the new Christmas
inspiration that the Tablescape Thursday
gang have come up with this week!!
Be sure to go over to Susan's at between
naps on the porch and check them out
for yourself. Click Here!

See ya tomorrow!!

Hugs and Christmas Blessings,
Nellie

Better late than never

(Scenes from Cozy Place)

Hello Sweet Friends,
I am a bit late in posting today......  but I am
better late than never!!  lol

Hope you had a great weekend and you
are getting your homes all gussied up for this
delightfully Wonderful time of the year!!

We had a good weekend,  but a busy one
much like yours I would imagine.  Was trying
to get the house at least decorated enough to
look nice for a birthday celebration for Scott's
fiancee, Megan.  Her birthday was actually Nov.
29th,  but since she has lots of family and friends,
and then Scott was out of town working for 3
days we had to delay it till this Sunday!

Then of course, there was cooking to do as well,  but
we actually pulled it off,  but I just opted not to try to do
the tree yet,  so hubby will put that up tonight,  while Dee
and I bake cookies.  His reward will be peanut butter
cookies with herseys kisses in the center!  Yum!!
Then maybe I can get it decorated tomorrow night
or Wednesday.

Think we all enjoyed the Birthday Celebration,  and.......
don't die from shock now,   I actually remembered to
take some pics of the happy couple, as well as the table,
so I will post that on Wednesday evening  Lord willing!!
Remember I told you I was making a tree from coffee
Filters,  well,  decided to use it as a centerpiece
for Megans Birthday,  so you will get to see it too!

We have been out in the yard most of the afternoon,
bringing in and covering plants and raking leaves,
then hubby mowed the yard, hopefully,  for the last
time till spring.  We are suppose to go to 29 degrees
tonight and 30 degrees tomorrow night.
We usually don't have freezing weather before
Christmas or January.

Our newly cleaned and organized garage is full
of Christmas boxes and plants!!  lol
Murphys law,  you wash the car..... it rains,
we clean our garage out,  and have to fill it up
with something else!! lol
Oh well, at least there was room for it!!

Well, Sweet Peas..................
Better end here cause my girl will be here very
shortly to work on those Peanut Butter cookies.
She is going to a cookie exchange party this
week,  so you have to bring 3 dozen of some
sort of cookies.  It should be a fun time........ it has
been a long time since we baked cookies together.

Have a delightful week ahead, and don't get
so caught up in the busyiness of the Christmas Season
that you forget the real reason for the Season!!
Jesus,  Of Course!!

Love, Blessings and Hugs,
Nellie

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - December 2, 2010

“Give thanks to the LORD, because he is good;
 his love is eternal!”
Psalm 107:1

Welcome to the first Thankful
Thursday of December

Wow, Sweet Peas..............Can you believe it is
is December 2nd???   Amazing to me how quickly
this year has flown by,  and here we are just 23 days
till Christmas!!

Guess that would be my
#1
Thankful

I am thankful
for the Christmas Season and all that is encompasses,
I simply love everything there is to love about this
Wonderful Season of the year, but I especially love
the person that the Season represents .....
Jesus the Christ Child, who was born in the manger,
but who later as an adult died an inexplicably horrible
death on a cross, for my sins and yours.... and then
rose from the dead to give us eternal life with the Father.
what a saviour and friend we have in Jesus!!
In my heart,  he is always my number one Thankful.
Could never imagine life without Him.

#2
I am thankful
for the Lovely Thanksgiving we had with our family.
It was truly a special and fun day that we enjoyed
so very much,  and the food..................
it was soooo delightful.

In case you are interested or missed yesterdays
post,  it was of our Thanksgiving table, so all you
have to do is scroll down to my last post.

#3
I am thankful
for the creative gift ideas the Lord has been giving
me for Christmas gifts.  I am making a lot of things
and having such fun doing it.  Wish I could share
them but I never know who might be reading here
and it would spoil their surprise.  Guess I will
store them away to share for next year!  lol

 #4
I am thankful
that my son Scott has found the love of his life,
and asked for her (Megan) hand in marriage this
past Saturday,  so we will be looking forward to
a Wedding in the New Year,  probably the end
of May.

#5
I am thankful
that we have colder weather again,  finally!!
It went to 38 last night,  and will be a high of
66,  I know,  I know that isn't really cold,  but
we will take it..........better than the 80's for
this time of year!!  lol

#6
I am thankful
for hot coffee and tea, and soups, stews
and chili's that help keep us warm.  Am
planning to make Southwestern white
chili for tonight.  It is so delicious,  it
is made with chicken and white beans.

Just in case you are interested in trying
it,  if you go to the top left hand side of
my blog and type Southwestern white
chili in the search window,  I have a post
about it with the recipe link.  I checked it out
and it is still up and running.

  Got the recipe from Kraft
foods,  they have so many great recipes.
The only bad thing about this recipe is if
you don't double it,  you will wish you had!!

#7
I am thankful
for most of God creatures....and this time it would
be for Goats.  We got to see some this week while
we were out and I happened to have the camera,
so here are some cute pics of the buggers.

They were chowing down here!!

This guy was very interested in the lady
with the camera but............
not interested enough to come close!!  lol

This one just sat there..... think he might be an
old goat, doesn't he look like he is laughing!!

Hubby told our son that your Mom took that
old goats picture then she had another old
goat waiting for her in the car!!  lol
Of Course, meaning himself,
He is so funny!!

#8
I am thankful
that all my Fall decorations are down and
safely tucked away until next year.  I have
actually put a few lil touches outside just
cause I didn't have to think about where
to put them!!  lol

I put on my Christmas music and had my
first glass of eggnog to kick off the Season,
as I took all the Fall stuff down last night. lol

#9
I am thankful
my Southwestern white chili came out
well,  and we have already had a bowl.
Yum...........it actually turned out to be
Southwest white/black chili,  cause I
doubled the recipe and forgot I needed
4 cans of white beans,  so put 2 white
and 2 black bean,  just as good!!

#10
I am thankful
we had a visit with Scott this afternoon,
he came to get Joey and stayed a bit.
We rarely see him when he is by himself,
so that was fun!  Course,  it is always fun
when Megan is with him too!!

While Scott was here we got to sit out on
the porch the weather was so delightful,
and this is what we saw.

I had already taken the pic days ago,  so  thought this
was the perfect time to post it!!  lol
Love that the bougainvilla blooms this time of year.

#11
I am thankful
for the Toybox ministry that our church
hosts every year at Christmas time,  it
is a wonderful blessing to many,  and I am
thankful too,  that we have the priviledge of
serving there tomorrow evening. We are
both very excited and happy about that!!

They have it all set up like a store,  and
people that are having a tough time can
come and pick out toys for their children
at no cost,   they even can have them
gift wrapped,  and they also have shoe
boxes that are filled and wrapped by
members of our congregation that are
gifts for the children to give their parents.
It is a really neat thing!!

#12
I am thankful
I can comfortably wear the Christmas shirt
tomorrow night that I need to wear because
 it has cooled off.
You see.... it has long sleeves,  and I am  having
"my own personal summers" again lately,
so those long sleeves would not be a fun time
for me....... in the warm temps we were having.
All I can say is...........God is good!!

Well, Sweet Folks,
There's my Thankful List,

How about yours????

Hope you have a grand
weekend full of the Joy
of the Christmas Season!!

Love, Blessings and Hugs,
Nellie

Tablescape Thursday

Hello Sweet Friends,

So how is your week going
so far???
Getting those Christmas
decorations
up???

I am starting in tomorrow,
and thought I would give you
one more blast of Fall!
Might as well do something with
all these pics I took. lol

Oh and I am linking up with Susan
over at between naps on the porch
for tablescape Thursday.
I'll give you the link at the end!!

As you can see I did both ends of the
table a lil differently than the others.
My 2 fellows sat at each end.

Decided to give the guys lil pumpkins and solid
colored napkin ties with candles, and their
place setting on Rusty brown napkins.

I actually made these last year and put them
on all the plates,  so since I had them still,
thought I would just use them on empty spots
around the table, and it worked out where every
person had one by their place setting!

This has a posterized affect on it!!

A view from above!!

No,  not from Heaven!!  lol

This is one side!

I used the pumpkin ribbon, glittery fruit,
and flowers at each place setting for the girls!!

Found these lil pumpkin creamers or whatever
they are at Target a few years ago in the  $1
section.  Thought they were so cute.
I usually put candles in them.
and
Becky gave me the leaves salt and peppers
shakers last Fall in a gift basket.  So cute!

Posterized affect!!  I just love
this affect!!

Lil vase of flowers at each ladies place.
Really liked this shot for some reason.

This is the other side end!
with a posterized affect

This pic didn't come out that great
but wanted to show you what I did
with the pumpkin creamers instead of
 using them as candle holders.

Remembered I also had these cute lil
pumpkin knifes so decided to use them
along with the lil pumpkin creamers as
butter dishes. It worked great...cause
the lil knifes fit down in their nicely,
so they didn't fall out on the table!!

I made these lil thankful cards on
printmaster,  we all filled one out
 and then read someone else's
at the table!.

And Of course, we gotta get some
Candle light in,  had another picture that
would have looked better but it was blurry!! lol

Well,  Good Bye Fall and
 Thanksgiving!!
We loved you...............

we really did......
.
.
.

But now we are on to our Most Favorite
Season of the Year!!

I have been working on a lil Christmas
tree today,  it is all white,  and made
from Coffee filters.  It is looking pretty
cute.............gotta figure out something
pretty to put on the top tho.

I am sure I will come up with something
once I started unpacking my Christmas
decorations which will be tomorrow or
maybe even tonight,  we were suppose
to counsel but something came up
and they aren't coming after all.

Thanks for coming by to visit!!
Love hearing from you,

Blessings and Christmas Hugs!
Nellie

Can you believe it is December
already???  Oh My,  It is the most
Wonderful time of the Year.....
as Amy Grant sings!!
I so agree with her..........course,
I thought Fall
 was pretty special too!! lol

 Be sure
to go over and check out all the
beautiful and creative tablescapes
at between naps on the porch.

 Thanks Susan for hosting as
always,  you do a great job hon!!
