Welcome to Thankful Thursday - January 10, 2013

Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD
and take refuge in him;
let all the upright in heart praise him!
Psalm 64:10

Evening Sweet Peas............

So what's your weather like where you
live?? My header picture probably looks
way more like your weather than mine.

  Hey, Is it Winter???
It has been 80 degrees here this week
in the day time. Too warm for this girl
 for this time of year!!

But my week has been good, not real exciting, just consisting
of getting Christmas stuff down and trying to get the house
back together and the typical household chores, but  that's
fine by me.  Still working on redecorating, hoping to make
 lots of progress tomorrow......
So............let's get started, shall we....................

#1
I am thankful
for some fun Winter/Christmas looking finds we
found when we went to Kohl's last night to take
back a Christmas gift that didn't fit.
Some beautiful mercury glass items.
and ...........
my hubby found this brownish red metal rooster
at Ross for $10.99,  and just had to bring it home,
he said it looked like it was starving and he
needed to fatten it up!!  lol
He is so cute!  I meant the Rooster, just kidding,
course, he is cute too in an artsy type way!
Will have to show him to you soon.

#2
I am thankful
for Table Top Tuesday and for one of the
bloggers who have the same exact terrarium
that I rec'd as a christmas gift.  I loved mine,
but wasn't quite sure what to put in it, other
than plants,  and I checked out pinterest and
BHG, but all the ones I saw had plants in them,
saw 2 that had miniature things but the pics
were so small, couldn't really see what was in
them.  So was very happy this blogger posted
hers, as it gave me some ideas for mine,
and I am very happy with the results, some
of which I got last night that I was talking
about in #1..............

#3
I am thankful
for a wonderful book we are reading by
Randy Alcorn called "Heaven".  It is all based
on scripture, so if you think we are just gonna
be floating around on clouds strumming a harp,
or you don't have a very good idea of what
heaven will be like, You might like to read it,
It is very inciteful......
No one can know everything about it for sure,
since scripture says " "No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived what God has prepared for
 those who love him"--
1 Corinthians 2:9
but the bible sure does give us some
 great glimpses.

 posterized affect.

#4
I am thankful
that we are going to Dee and Jerry's to do a
belated birthday celebration for Jerry this coming
Saturday. Will be great to see them and  to see
some changes they have made to their home.
So looking forward to it...........

#5
I am thankful
for a really long phone chat I had with a sweet
friend today,  very unlifting and encouraging
for sure................

#6
I am thankful
that we were able to start back to exercising
this week,  and it seems to be going well so
far, course, I am taking it slow and easy!!  lol

#7
I am thankful
that I am down to only 1 Ibuprophen a day now.
That's real progress folks............lol

#8
I am thankful
for a new chicken salad sub we learned about
this week.  You can get a chicken salad sub or
just get the chicken salad and it is delicious.
You can get it at Publix Supermarket and it
is called " Savory tarragon Chicken breast
salad."  It is really really good!!

and
#9
I am thankful
for the lovely lady (Publix employee) who
recommended it to us,  and was so sweet
to send us a sample so we could try it.
Really love when I see people really doing
there jobs well and going above and
 beyond..........that is so refreshing!!

#10
I am thankful
that we were sent one more Christmas
movie from Netflix,  and we watched it last
night .........."The Christmas Card",  if you
haven't seen it... get it anyway,  it is a lovely
story.........and especially if you are a
hopeless Romantic,  you will love it!!

Winter look for last year.

#11
I am thankful
that our previous Pastor and his wife who
have stayed with us the last 2 years, was able
to stay with another family this year,  so we
will still get to see them.  Unfortunately, we
were not able to host them this year, as that
will be right when our New Granddaughter
should be making her entrance into our lives!!

#12
I am thankful
for my Mom's simple yet wonderful fruit salad
recipe that she used to make when we were kids.
I made some today and it was sooo good.  Some
times I forget how great it is till I make it again.

The recipe is very simple.

Mom's simple fruit salad recipe

Cut up an apple in a bowl, I used a Honey Crisp apple
(Have you ever had those?  Oh my gosh they are
so delicious, and I am not an apple eater unless they
are in fruit salad, but I love these.) Typically, I
would use a red delicious or gala apple.

Cut up a navel orange (they are seedless) and add to
the bowl.
(if it isn't about the same amount as the apple
you might want to add another one.

slice up a banana and add to the cut up apple and
orange (again balance with the other fruit)

add 1/2 cup of orange juice to the bowl of fruit

Throw some flaked coconut in the bowl and mix
it all up. (this was my addition to it)

Then add some chopped pecans on top.

 EAT and ENJOY!

Usually 1 of each fruit is enough, and would be
enough for 2 people.

It's Friday...............but just had to come
back and add a
                  #13.......... because
I am so thankful
for the gorgeous sunshiney day we have
out there today, it is a gloriously beautiful
day......azure blue skies with just a few
wispy white clouds, with a gentle breeze
blowing............I was able to sit outside
for a lil bit, and it has been some time ago,
as we have had nothing but cloudy skies
for quite awhile now, so it was incredibly
wonderful, and transported me to spring,
as it felt just like a spring day.
A delightful and exquiste gift from my
Heavenly Father!  Loved it DAD!
So guess I have to take back what I said
earlier,  lol

Well, that's a wrap...........
Hope you have lots of things to be
thankful for this week too, and if you
feel so inclined would love to hear a
few of them!

Thanks for your visit, always great
hearing from you.

Love, Hugs,  and
Happy Simple Blessings,
Nellie

Blissful White Wednesday - playing with dishes.....

 Hello Sweet Friends,

What cha been up today??
 Hope you have
been having a good day!

Mine has been good,  I have just been downloading pics,
and doing household chores and talking to people on the
phone....no not fun people, like friends, people that I have
to get things straightened out with, like cancelling the
newspaper, and a bill we were charged by the Drs. office,
that was already paid by Insurance, and fun stuff like
that.....yuk!  amazing how much time that stuff takes
with those wonderful inventions like automated phones
 systems...........just  gotta love them!!
(as sarcasm drips all over my keyboard)

Last week I was swapping out my old dishes (in header
picture) for my new ones I got from Scott and Megan for
 Christmas.  Am loving them!
So was in the mood to play a bit,  so these pics are
the result of that.  Thought they would make a nice
Blissful White Wednesday post that Miss Becky
over at time washed hosts every Wednesday now.
There will be a link to go there at the end.

This combined every white plate I have in the house.
Well, actually there is another lined with silver
that didn't make it in,  and my white green flowered
china plates!!  lol

Done in colored pencil

Took the scalloped plate out and added the solid plate.

Table Top Tuesday - Guest Bathroom refresh, from Christmas to a bit of a french look

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends,

So...........How are you doing???
Hope you had a nice weekend and have
gotten all your Christmas things neatly
and nicely put away for the year!

We finally started on ours on Saturday and I finished the
rest yesterday,  now just have to get the tubs and boxes
from the bedroom to the garage, and it will be a done deal
till next year!!  So my house is bare and empty and looks
so pitiful,  but did get this one lil room done,  so figured
I would show you the before and after since I never got
to show you the before's....before Christmas!  lol

My header pic is a sign I made for our bathroom door
it matches what's inside.................

This is the wallpaper,  this is on 3 walls

This is on just one wall.  Notice the writing on the wall paper.
It was my inspiration.  I decided I wanted to do something
that was a lil more subdued since I am liking all the white
out in the blogosphere,  but it just seemed to need an added
touch of something,  and then it hit me how about some sort
of tag on things, I have seen numbers and the names of
whatever......so thought I will put tags of whatever...........
but then I thought I would put the whatever it is tags
in the language that is one the wallpaper,  so I went to the
online translator,  and found that some words were spanish,
romanian and french,  and decided to just go with the french,
sans the door sign.....which says in french "Bathroom"

Bet you guessed that already!!  lol

This is the Christmas before shot
Showing the left side of the vanity.

This is after..........you can't see it very well,.
but there is a tag hanging on the topiary too!  lol

Decided to throw in a few old souveneir eifel towers I had
from 40+ years ago when we lived in Germany and traveled
 to Paris.
Decided to change her out for an Arc de triumphe instead,
just did that this morning, so no picture.

Another after......................lol
Decided to retweak it again,  change out the pots, this one
makes the topiary sit a lil higher, so liked it better.
 and add more statues.
and put the soap on the opposite side from where it was
before.

This is a before.... of the wall over potty.
I love these lil snowmen they were a gift from a friend
years ago, who moved away and is now a blog friend
as well,  thanks Jessica (from over at Jewel's for the
journey),  as you can see I am still putting them to
good use................lol

After.....just trying to take out a lot of the lavender
and just high light the green.

                                                                                 Before

 After...................

See my lil tags,  just straight pinned it on.............Can you
 guess what that means???
Made the signs and labels on printmaster, got the words
from the online translator, then cut them out with
scalloped scrapbooking scissors............

Shelf before............

Shelf after....

Reflection shots of the most of the wall.

The right hand side of the vanity.
Before............notice the jars in the corner!

oh yea, this is my new lil  Christmas wall flower
from Dee,  she and I got each other a Christmas
decoration and gave it early so we could enjoy
it for the season!  Boy, do these babies put off
such an lovely aroma.
We got them at the Bath and Body Shop!

After.......

This is my everyday wallflower,
perfect match with the wallpaper
don't you think!!

Made signs for all of these jars as well.
Wish I had remembered to light the candle too!!
oh well............lol

I just stuck the labels on with double sided scotch tape.

Added my other eifel tower here afterwards

I was considering getting a new shower curtain,
but couldn't find anything I liked so decided to
leave just a touch of lavender.

 Another after......
Tweaked this area,  swapped the
spray splashes and the soap.  Think it
looks better this weay.

I have these lovely lil white poinsettias that are from
Martha Stewart, so I hang them on the mirror
and on the shower curtain most years.

Here is the before with beads and the poinsettias,
didn't show up as much as I had hoped, cause it really
looks so festive, I was tempted to leave it!!
Decided to enlarge the pic so maybe you can see it
better!

Here is the after...........decided to just give an entirely
different look by leaving it open. Love the border.....
it goes all the way around the whole room.

Well..............that's it ..............finally!!  lol
Know it was long,  but I always enjoy before and
afters myself,  so thought you might too.

Am linking up to Marty for Table Top Tuesday

 hearing from you!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - January 3, 2013

Do not remember where I got this, but think it was from another
blogging buddy...........if it was you let me know, cause I like to
give credit where credit is due

Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you!
Psalm 63:3

Greetings Sweet Folks,

How have you been??  Have you had
a good week?? I hope so..........
Have you taken your Christmas
decorations down yet??

My week has been good so far, and I have not taken my
decorations down yet!!  lol   Actually thought I would
start yesterday,  but for some reason I just wasn't ready
yet.............think we have had such a good and restful
time I am just trying to make it last a bit longer.....
I guess!  lol     Have been looking for some ideas
tho, for when I do take them down and redecorate.

Will give you a glimpse into my week,  thru my thankfuls.

#1
I am thankful
again for being able to have hubby home all this time,
but for a different reason this week.  I really think it has
been a tremendous help in the healing of this tendinitis.
Because there are certain things I do that really irritate
it,  like bending over to get things out of the dryer for
instance.  So hubby has done all those type of things
the last 2 weeks,  and when he has been home the
rest of the time before even,  but the days he wasn't
home, sometimes as careful as I tried to be I have had
to do some things and I think that would inflame
it all over again....................

#2
I am thankful
to be able to sit down for an extended period of
time once again, even tho it is with a pillow still.
It is much much better and I can tell it is healing,
just ever so slowly.  Hubby is going back to work
today so if you think of me,  pray that I will be very
careful in what I do........it is so hard to remember
not to do certain things once you are feeling better
and not in pain,  but takes nothing to set you back.

raspberry tart - with posterized affect

#3
I am thankful
for this time of rest we have had,  we have pretty
much done no exercise, other than the normal
walking around the house, but have done a lot
of reading and movie watching,  and that has
been fun.  I am so hoping that when we start
exercising again maybe it will causes a boost
in our metabolism and some weight loss,
as I have put on about 6 pds. during this time.

#4
I am so thankful
that I had lost 3 pds. prior to this tho or my
weight would be much higher.

#5
I am thankful
that I have been able to take less and less
ibuprophen.  I am down to like 1 tablet
twice a day...........started to just quit since
I really don't need it pain wise,  but decided
I had best keep taking some to make
sure it doesn't get inflamed again.

#6
I am thankful
that a friend of mine was not injured in a
fender bender she was in on New Years eve.
Minor damage to her car only, thankfully!!

#7
I am so thankful
that the Lord spared the same friend and I
and her children from an accident later that
same evening, Some guy turned right in front
of us at a traffic light, and thankfully, she was
able to stop just in the nick of time.
Otherwise we might  all be in a hospital bed
right now...........scary to think about.

#8
I am thankful
that I am gonna get to have lunch with my
girl today.  It will be a short lunch,  but worth
every minute....................We did meet, just
ran to chick-fil-a,  she only has 40 mins.,
but  most importantly we enjoyed it.....

#9
I am thankful
for my son-in-love Jerry,  he is a wonderful
guy and makes our Dee very happy, and
 tommorrow is his birthday.  Happy
Birthday Jerry!!  not that he ever reads this,
at least not that I know of anyway.......lol

Chocolate covered strawberries w/ posterized affect.

Have been gone all day so will try to get
this finished up now.................

#10
I am thankful
that I did get the christmas stuff in the guest
bathroom taken down today, and started to
redecorate it,  but then had to leave to go
meet my sweet girl.  so at least I will  know
 where to start tomorrow......................lol

#11
I am thankful
for a fun day out by myself.  I made a day
of it............Home Goods, Ross, Marshalls,
Target, Sears, JoAnn's,  Michaels and the
Dollar tree.  Tried to go to Tuesday morn.
but they were closed for inventory.  Was
looking for an el cheapo inspiration piece
or two, sort of gets me excited about putting
the house back together.  I did find one, I
think it is an artichoke on a pedestal,
and it is all gloss white ceramic.
My fav finish.  Also happened on some
chair cushions for my kitchen chairs.
I have looked off and on, but never really
saw any I liked well enough to pay what
they wanted for them.  These were only
$5.99 each and a nice blueberry color
that will look great in my kitchen,  and my
tendinitis already likes them, they feel
soooooooooo good!!  Now I want have
to keep getting a pillow everytime we
eat or sit at the table.  Refreshing!!  lol

#12
I am thankful
and excited that our friend Becky from over
at Time Washed is coming for a visit in the
 morning,
Now I am glad I didn't take everything down
yet or the house would be a wreck!!  Not
that she cares, but it will just be nicer for
her visit is all.  It has been quite a while
since we have been able to get together,
so think we are both thrilled..........and it
will probably be awhile again as she has
two grand daughters arriving in the month
of January,  so Grammy is gonna be a
bit busy..................lol

Well, that's it for today!

Thanks for coming by..........

Would love to hear from you!

Love, Hugs, and
First of the year blessings to you,
Nellie

Thankful Thursday July 23, 2026, and whimsical Summer floral displays

The grass withers and the flowers fall,      but the word of our God endures forever.” Isaiah 40:8 NIV Happy Friday to you Sweet Friends, ...
