Part 2 - of our 4lst Anniversary Trip

Morning Sweet Friends,

Hope yall had a good weekend and aren't

freezing too death again!  Weather reports
say the midwest and Northeast are getting
another arctic blast.  Bless your hearts if you
live in those areas.   It is cold here for us....55,
but then tomorrow it will go into the 60's, so
we are finally having what we call Winter
weather here!  lol  Have to say it is
delight to us.........

We had a very nice weekend,  enjoyed
Dee's visit,  altho it seemed to fly by. The
baby shower for her friend was really nice,
she did a great job, and did get some help
from her friends family as well,  so that
was nice.
Hubby was off on Monday, so I had a Dr.
appt. so he went with me, then we went to
crack your barrel,  as my hubby calls it......
he was taking off on my son in love who
calls it Crackle barrel.........just to be funny.
anyway, it was a nice lunch and then always
fun looking around in their gift shop.....wound
up having one of the sales ladies in there talk
me into a pretty scarf that matched my solid
green top I got for Christmas,  it really was
pretty and she was so nice it made us both
want to get it.  I really do love the scarf, and
am hoping I can find some other things to
wear with it as well..........that would be nice.
We also decided to go to Home place
and look around  as we enjoy that store too.
I bought a new white pitcher cause it was
a good deal and thought I looked it over
really well, but once I got home and un-
wrapped it to wash it to get the sticker
off, it had a chip right on the mouth of the
pitcher underneath, not easy to see.
So it will be going back,  too bad, cause
I really liked the shape of it.

I happened to come across these pics of
our 41st anniversary trip and realized I
never did share all the pics with you,
( They are over 2 years old)  lol
I would like a nice record of it myself,
so thought why not.........cause I know
yall are like me and enjoy pics of pretty
and unique decorating, and this place
fills the bill.................
Also since I have Brooklyn don't have a
lot of time,  but to upload pictures any-
way. So seems like the perfect time.

These are picture taken throughout the
Wyndham Grand hotel in Orlando.
We got a great deal cause it was that
time of year for Florida residents rates.

All the rest of the pics accept the header are mine.

We totally enjoyed the decor,  so modern and so different

I was fascinated by their lovely and unique
carpeting and chandeliers.

Cutest lil bench chair,  they look like they should
we in an Alice in Wonderland movie.

This is like a grand ball room, for weddings
and convention and stuff, I would guess.

This was a closeup of the lights on the walls.
With the shadows it looks like a strange
 insect,  don't you think!   lol

Loved all these Spherical lights,
very unique and just noticed they had
a heart in the center.

The carpeting seems like it would be like
in an Alice and Wonderland movie
to me too.  lol  Isn't it so different??

This one is recessed but it looks like a gold
circle was painted above it.

A very cool mirror.

Just a sitting area..........when you come in from outside

These pics just don't do this justice, cause it was really
beautiful, and loved this mobile they had hanging there.

This pic and the one above was sort of in
a stair well,  but can you see it sort of has
like a lacy opague shade of something on
the windows.

In another hallway.  Another nice grouping with
 a sharp and modern mirror..............

Well , that is all for part 2,  there will probably be 2
more posts in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
More fun decor ahead.............

My first post was of our hotel room and off
the balcony at night,  and if you want to see it
Then you will need to scroll down passed
this post. Have never seen it happen like
that before,  but because they all have the
same name, it doesn't pay attention
to the Part 2...for some reason.

Hope you had a fun tour of the Wyndham..........
We sure did.........

Thanks for stopping in............always appreciate
your comments.

Love, Hugs and
Modern Decor Blessings,

Nellie

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - January 17, 2014

Pics from a Belated Christmas brunch for two....

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom
that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful,
and so worship God acceptably
with reverence and awe,
Hebrews 12:28

Greetings Sweet Friends,

So how are ya??

Hope you are doing well and some
what out of all that really cold weather.

Will let the post do the talking today!!

#1
I am thankful
Scott made it back home safe and sound
from Maryland last Friday and from Texas
and Louisiana Wed. night from trips for work
and that the trips were uneventful in a  good
way.  We have all missed him!  Jan.is an
unusually busy time for him every year.....
He will be happy to see February come,
I am sure............

#2
I am thankful
that DeeAnna arrived safe and sound last
night from Asheville, we picked her up and
she spent the night here, she got in after
10 p.m......so we were up until 1a.m. gabbing
and working on a couple of cute but easy table
arrangements for the shower, we thought
they came out really well.  You will see
them below this writing.
Just came back from taking her to
meet her best friend for an early morning
sonogram appt. to see the baby that is to be
born the middle of February.  Dee will spend
the day with Heather as she and Heathers
family are preparing for the baby shower on
Sat. She  will come home with me after the
shower and we will get to visit with her that
evening and Sunday afternoon until she
leaves again...........
So great to see her,  hard to see her go
so soon,  but so happy she will get to
spend a lil more time afterwards, and
just happy to see her........

Here they are!  It is a safari
animal theme,  which is what
the babies room is too.

 Dee had
already purchased the things to
make it and brought it all at
Christmas time, as it would be
hard to bring on the plane and
expensive too!  think she got
the idea on pinterest!

The zebra containers are wind bottle
gift boxes.  We just unknotted the cording
and took the tops off,  then added some
decorative stones to the bottoms of the
boxes to weight them a bit,  then put in
crumpled up newspaper 3/4 of the way
up,  then added rounds of floral foam,
then just stuck the animal picks in.....
She got the lil animals at Michael's,
then we hot glued wooden skewer's
to the backs,  and just stuck them
in the floral foam, then covered the
floral foam with some of the shredded
packaging stuff that comes in a bag
that they sometimes put in the top of a
gift bag!  this was accordion pleated.

So what do you think??

since I was already taking pics,  took this
too, isn't this the cutest gift bag, it goes
perfectly with the theme,so bought it to put
my gift in....got it at dollar tree.............

#3
I am thankful
we are having some cooler weather
over this next week, maybe I  will get
to wear some of my Winter clothes
for a change. It is a high of 65 today
and will be 55 tomorrow.  Perfect
for me!!

I have no idea what it is, just decided to put some eyes
on it.....sorta looks like a fluffy dog.  In the header pic
he sort of looks like a bear.........
so what do you see????

#4
I am thankful
we will be getting together next week
with that young lady that stayed with us
back in October.... we have seen her
a few times and have talked and
emailed with her some,  but will be
nice to see the whole family.
They are really sweet people.

#5

I am thankful
for Red Rooibus Tea made by Twinings.
Some years back a dear friend had put
me on to Rooibus Tea at Teavana, and
they had one called "Sweet Amore", the
best tea I have ever had,  but Teavana
has discontinued it for some strange
reason.........so the next best thing
has been the Twinings tea,  it is very
good,  but not as good as "Sweet
Amore", but a very good replacement
at least. I check every so often to see
if they are carrying it again,  but to
no avail.........boo hoo!  lol

#6
I am thankful
for our mailman. Can you imagine if you
had to go to the Post Office to get your
mail all the time. How much fun would
that be??  None........... as far as I am
concerned...lol  So, glad he so sweetly
delivers our mail to our box most days
and at times brings it right to my door
if it is a package or something.
What a great service mailmen or
mailwomen do for us. If you are one
Thank You so much for what you do!!
We appreciate you so much......

#7
I am thankful
that I have gotten to make a few cards
this last week.  I was just dying to do
something creative. I am trying to figure
out how to incorporate the cuddlebug
embossing into my cards, but not working
out too well, so far.........lol It does a
awesome job of embossing tho, but it is
the size that is a problem, and there really
isn't a lot of instructions that go with it,
so you are kinda on your own for the most
part,  have watched a few utube videos,
but they all seem to cover the same things,
but I will figure it out sooner or later.
Where there is a will there is a way!

Wanted you to see how well the embossing
tool works, and see what I was talking about.
This light is very unforgiving, so you can see
what I am talking about with the embossing,
the embossing looks great, but if you look
to the right where it says wife, you can see
the outline of the embossing folder.
So that want do.....cause I like my cards
to look like as good as if you bought it........
I added the ribbon to hide one line of the
lil flowers cause I took the embossing up
too far. Decided to finish it to see how it
would look completely done,  it takes
experimentation to get it right.............

In most light you can't see that indention
of the embossing folder very well.  The card
has been pixie dusted as I like to call it,
(glittered),  but you can't really  tell in
 the pic.  oh well............

#8
I am thankful
for a new talk TV show on the christian
station called "Real Life",  with a really
neat Pastor from our area.......We have
watched him before and really like him.
His name is Justin Miller,  and he Pastors
churches in Orlando area.........
Last night topic was how to handle social
media with your kids........Good info!
But they are gonna cover topics that
are pertinent for today's living.

This is how the hyacinths looked
this morning with the sun streaming
thru the windows.  As straight as
when we brought it home.
So Funny.............also surprised but
delighted that they are lasting
so long.....

#9
I am thankful
for this really neat video Megan sent me
yesterday, it is a  really inspiring story from
 the 911 tradgedy.
You really should take the time to watch
it......it is really a great story that really
 makes you think.

I am thankful
for the quick, easy and delicious black
bean soup we had for dinner tonight.
We put sour cream, tomatoes scallions
and cilantro on top and eat it with blue
 corn chips.  Um Um good!
If you are interested in the recipe let
me know and I will post it.

#11

I am thankful
for my new blue glasses,  and can't
wait to set a table with them.

Aren't the pretty!  Since I was taking
pic I got everything......lol

#12
I am thankful
that if Dee had to move..... that the
Lord put her near the airport in Asheville,
with an Airline called Allegiant that flys
out of Asheville and South Caroline down
to Sanford, Florida.  Both small airports....
so easy to navigate and the flight is about
an hour and 20 mins.  Otherwise we might
not be seeing her quite as much.

Had to come back and add another
one.........

#13
I am thankful
that my SIL Susan is okay, she took a fall
today, and cut her fingers very badly, and
atho she had to have 35 stitches,it could
have been so much worse. Also, thankful
there was an urgent care center close by
as she was out in an unfamiliar area
 and by herself.

Well, sweet friends,  so happy you
stopped by, and look forward to
hearing from you...........

Hope you have a delightful weekend.

Love,  Hugs and
Warmer Winter Blessings to You,

Nellie

White hyacinths - Blissful White Wednesday

Hello Sweet Friends,

How is the week treating you so far???
Hope yall are having much better weather
by now........I have seen those pics and
feeling bad for yall................thank
goodness for inside projects....right??

It's been a good week here so far, been
out a lot these last few days, back to the
dentist on Monday to get my retainers and
then figured I would go to Sam's and of
course, had to get my smoothie reward
let's not forget that!!  lol
Grocery shopping yesterday and ran in the
dollar tree store for a few minutes, and
found some really pretty blue glasses,
have wanted some for ages, but never
saw any I really liked, so those puppies
came right home with me.  So  I moved
my pink ones out to go to the hospice
resale shop and put the new blue ones
in their place............

and of course, today was our day to
have our lil darling.  She is really on
the move more all the time.  Megan
said she took 5 steps on her own last
night, the last 3 being very quick. She
did take a step or 2 here today, but
not quite confident enough to know
she can do it.  She learned today to
turn pages in her book when I am
reading it to her, and to crawl under
a chair, and to open the sliding mirror
closet doors, and something else too
can't remember right now.  lol
Anyway she is a hoot!

Well,  since hubby and I happened to
see these hyacinths at the grocery
store in a bulb vase,  we decided to
get them for the fun of watching them
grow and because they smell wonderful.
Have never had any before, but I have
found they have a mind of their own
just like tulips do...............
Wish I would have thought to get a
pic the night we brought them home,
cause it was remarkable how fast
they grew,  by the next day we were
shocked at the difference from the
night before.......and I didn't decide
to take pics till they started to bloom.
Anyway, thought they would make
a nice Blissful white Wed. post.

notice they are straight up

one is mostly open,  and the fragrance is
truly divine...........

All you do is keep filling it with water,
but you must keep the bulb out of the
water.

It drinks water pretty rapidly

and seems to change quite a bit afterwards

notice it is leaning now.  That was
the next morning after I water it again.

the next day it was really leaning

At one point it was leaning so much it was
starting to fall over, so I sort of angled
the bulb so it would be upright

Then the next morning it fell over
completely on the table and the bulb was
out of the vase and part of the roots were,
(forgot to take a picture)
so I filled it with water again

and this is what it looked like
today!
and as the day has gone on it has
gotten straighter over the bulb
just like how it was when we first
brought it home...........Crazy!
but Fun.........................like
having a floral science project!

Thanks for stopping in............
and say hello if you have some time.

Sharing over at Becky's for Blissful
White Wednesday,  just click here!

Hope you have a lovely rest of the
week.......

Love, Hugs and
Fragrant Hyacinth Blessings,
Nellie

Really wish I could send you the fragrance
as well.................ummmmmmmmmmm

Welcome to Thankful Thursday - January 9, 2014

I will praise God's name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30

Hello Sweet Friends,
Hope you have had a good week and that
you have been able to stay nice and
toasty warm....

It has been a good week here, and did warm up
some... was gonna tell you the temperature and
decided that might be cruel for some of you.
I haven't taken down any of my Christmas
decorations yet, still enjoying them,  and waiting
for a Christmas get together with a friend tomorrow,
we decided last year to just wait and have our own
special day after christmas when everything has
settled down.  Much more enjoyable that way.........
and something to look forward to as well!
These are just some random pics I took with my
new camera..........I took the pic of the front door
because my sweet son-in-law bought me and
his Mom a fresh pine wreath, and they brought
it all the way from Asheville.  I loved it I haven't
had anything with fresh pine in years,  course,
I can only have it outside, cause we are allergic
to it,  but it is fun to open the door and get a
whiff every now and again, and it looks so pretty
too.  It is starting to brown a lil but has held up
pretty good,  I just keep spritizing it with water
every few days or so..................So it might make
 it thru January...................

Anyway, better get on with my list...................

#1
I am thankful
that we live in Florida, after hearing
what the rest of the country has been
dealing with.............

#2
I am thankful
for our first pot of Beef Stew this
Winter..........it was divine,  always my
fav winter meal.

#3
I am thankful
that we got started back to exercising
this week and to praying together more.
We finally made a schedule,  so that
should help us.

#4
I am thankful
we got to see Brooklyn Wed. morning, cause
it has almost been 2 weeks,  and we were having
Brooklyn withdrawal symptoms we have missed
her so much. This is how she looked when she
arrived and grampy got her from the car. We had
bought her this lamb hat and mittens for christmas,
just wish you could see the other ear, cause she
looks like a lil lamb,  so cute!

#5
I am thankful
for simple pleasures like staying in my warm
flannel  PJ's all day when it is cold outside.......
Just love doing that!!  lol

#6
I am thankful
for a new book we are reading called
"Angel in the Fire",  one of those books
it is hard to put down..........it is a true story
about God's goodness in a terrible situation.
Can't wait to know the ending of it all.

#7

I am thankful
that I finally got my 2 permanent crowns today,
but will go back monday to get my retainers,
to keep my teeth from moving around anymore.

Just happened to walk by the window
and thought these would make pretty pics.

#8

I am thankful
that our hair grows and pretty quickly because
my hair was cut just a little bit too short and I am
having a time doing anything with it,  and really
am not liking it too well............but thank the Lord
it will grow and that will change..... and I am
 hoping for very quickly............lol

#9
I am thankful
for a fun day out shopping afterwards going
to the dentist and of course, my chocolate elvis
reward for being a good girl at the
dentist..............lol

#10
I am thankful
for dinner out at Carrabbas tonight
with hubby.  It is a brand new Carrabbas
in a town nearby,  we were suppose to
go there for our Anniversary back in
November,  but we didn't get to go that
night and got take out from somewhere
else...........so tonight was the night,
and it was delicious as always!
and we have leftovers for tomorrow
night.....can't beat that!!

#11
I am thankful
to be home and in my jamies,  it was sort of
a misting rain,  and I got sort of cold and damp,
and my feet hurt after all that walking around for
hours trying to wait for hubby to get off work.
Plus I really don't like driving in the rain either.
So I am comfy cozy with a full tummy and feeling
 happy as can be........lol

#12
I am thankful
that my friend Becky from over at Time Washed
is getting to come over today for a lil Christmas
Brunch Celebration with me.  It has been too
long since we have seen each other,  so we
are both thrilled for this time together.

#13
I am thankful
for a neat story of divine intervention that I read
about on yahoo this morning.  A man from our area
who is a truck driver was pinned under his truck for
almost 8 hrs. in -41 degree weather on Monday. His
wife whom he calls faithfully every morning knew
something had to be wrong cause he always calls,
so she kept frantically calling his cell phone, and
it was on vibrate, so eventually it vibrated the phone
out of his pocket and then he was able to give a
voice command for it to call the last number he
had called,  (now he could not touch the phone
cause he was frozen to the ground) he didn't even
know who the phone would be calling but it turned
out to be his boss,  and he  just said whoever this is
whatever you do please don't hang up the phone.
His boss was able to track his schedule and get
help for him,  they had to cut him out of his clothes to
get him out,  and he is in the hospital but expected
to get out today and head for Orlando. What a
miraculous story,  he should have frozen to death.
Love hearing these kind of stories..........

Well, here's my list for the week...........

Hope you have a good list yourself......

Thanks for coming by and hope you leave
a thankful or two yourself...........so we
can be encouraged by you!!

Love,  Hugs,  and
Winter Blessings to you!

Nellie

Scripture Sunday

I can only say a hearty Amen  to these passages of scripture. Have a great week, Hugs, Nellie
