First spring tablecape for hubbies birthday celebration

*
Hello Sweet Friends,
*
Hope your Wednesday is going well.
*
Mine has been good so far!  I am thrilled that I was
able to get out and finish the front yard today,
so hopefully tomorrow I can start on the back yard.
*
I have to say it has been wonderful to just be
outdoors again,  and see all the coming signs
of Spring,  my most favorite season of the year!
*

I am creating a post today, so I can participate in
 Tablescape Thursday  tomorrow over at
Susan's from Between Naps on the Porch.
Thank you Susan for Hosting this every week.
*
Here is my first Spring tablescape  in honor of my
hubbies birthday!!
Here is a nice photo of him and our family.
We had a really good one but it was too blurry,
not that this is the best either.
*

*
The birthday boy is in the blue shirt!!  lol
*

*
I put butter into the small lil square dishes,
sometimes I use white egg cups.
I like to have a set of salt and pepper
at each end of the table as well.

*
Notice I off centered the bowls for a change.

*
Used smaller check napkins as placemats,
with larger check napkins placed in the bowls.
I wanted to create a subtle tablescape.
*

*

*
Good ole Andes Mints,  Yum!!

*
This is from the other end of the table.
*

*
This has an ocean ripple affect on it.
Thought it was pretty and would throw it
in just for fun.
*

*
These green crystal glasses are my Wedding glasses,
I love them as much today as the day I registered them.
They are a smokey green.
*

*

*

*
This pic has a palette knife affect.
I love to use these affects,  course, you have
to find just the right one for the right picture.
*

*
Remember the jar lids that we made the tea
light candleholders out of,  don't they look nice.

*
This is an affect called poster edges.
*

*
This is an affect called cut out.
*

*
I decided to try to bring a lil masculinity to the table
since it looked so frilly,  but trying to find a lot of
masculine ornamentation around here is not too easy,
but I did remember this eagle I got hubby for
Father's Day one year, and replaced the candle
with the Eagle instead.
*

*
I have to say my hubby is very secure in his
masculinity so all the fru fru doesn't bother
him at all!  Which is great for me since I love
all the fru fru!! lol
*

*
This pic had an affect called Equalized and it made
it a much richer brown color.
*

*
Forgot to get a shot of the whole table with the Eagle
as the centerpiece cause I changed  it at the last minute.
Oh Well,  lol
*
Well,  that's it for Fun Day!!
Hope you enjoyed your visit.
*
Be sure and go over and visit at Susan's,
by clicking here, so you can see all the lovely
and creative ideas all these ladies have.
It's a fun time!!
*
*
Have a Beautiful Evening my friends,
*
Hugs N' Blessings,
Nellie

I love the idea of giving the individual mint, I think I might do this next time. One of the things I love about blogging is finding new ideas.

Now I must go and read your Tuesday tips, I missed them tuesday, as I was working outside all day.

  11. Hey there,
Sure enjoyed the different photo effects!
What program do you use to create them?
My favorite is the "poster edges."
Love your dishes too. Sweet pattern.
Have a great day and stay dry!

  12. Both of our hubbies have March birthdays, Nellie! Your tablescape for his special day is beautiful. I like the napkins on the diagonal & the off set dishes. It keeps the eye moving & its unique. I'm always trying to think out of the box.
Now I need to go back & find your post about candle holders out of jar lids. :)

Thanks for stopping by the Gazebo House & for your sweet comments, too.

  15. Hi Nellie, this is so beautiful. That was a great idea to replace the candle in the centerpiece with the eagle. I'm having a birthday dinner over here on Tues for my m-i-l so I'm thinking of what to do. What did you have to eat?? LOL! One thing I like to use on my tables is those individual salt & pepper shakers. They are very inexpensive...I think I have a dozen sets. I put a couple grains of rice in each salt shaker and it keeps the salt from clumping up between uses. I keep them in a little basket in my dining room hutch for when I set the formal table. Have you ever tried them? You background is so perky, just like I felt today with our 72 degree temps. I think maybe spring has finally come to NEOhio! Nice "chatting"...

  16. Hi Jacquelyn,
Nice to hear from you, it has been a while.
Ya know I have seen those lil salt and peppers shakers and thought about getting them but just never have, but I saw them recently on someones tablescape and thought the next time I see them I think I am gonna buy some.
Just in case in might help thought I would write you back right away and let you know what I made. It was easy yet delicious and my hubbies favorite. Beef stroganoff served over yellow rice and a nice salad with good whole grain rolls, and cheesecake. It was a hit with everyone. I made the stroganoff the day before and have you ever heard of 24 hr. salad or 7 layer salad, you literally need to make it 24 hrs. before. I love stuff you can prepare ahead of time. We bought the cheesecake at Sam's it was just plain cheesecake and I put fresh strawberries on top.
Yes, we have had heavenly temps here too, I have been working in the yard most of the week and it has been so delightful.
You have a great weekend hon,
    Blessings, Nellie

  17. Nellie, oh that sounds wonderful. I'm really in the mood to try something different and I too LOVE things that can be prepared the day before! Do you have a special stroganoff recipe you use? Its not something I normally make (Italian that I am LOL) so I could use some pointers! THANKS! Have a great weekend yourself!

  18. I'm sure your husband felt very honored to have such a beautiful table for his birthday! It's just lovely. I especially like how you've turned the napkins in an angle for your placemats. Adds a nice interest. Thanks for sharing and happy birthday to your husband!

  19. Hi Nellie, Just stopping by once again to say hi! it has been pretty busy here in Utah and I'll be here until the 21st. Chloe has had the flu most of the week so we are all praying it goes no farther. It looks like Jimmy had a super birthday and there you go with those fab dishes again!

Julia has been out of bed about ten times wondering when I am coming back in there. Honestly this little girl is attached to me at the hip. I wasn't sleepy for some reason but I better get back in there so she won't be exhausted in the morning when school rolls around. Have a super fun weekend.

I think it's great that you are out in the yard. I want to get that going when I get home.

Love you and loved the photo of the entire family! Now I have a face to attach to Jimmy. Fun! He looks like a really great guy!

    XOXO. Bon
