Welcome to September & Thankful Thursday Sept.2--3, 2010

MORNING SWEET PEAS,

WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER,

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??

IT IS SEPTEMBER ALREADY??

I FEEL A BIT DAZED...... BUT AM INCREDIBLY DELIGHTED
AND FULLOF ANTICIPATION......OF WHAT I'M
NOT QUITE SURE!!  LOL

WE ARE SEEING THOSE LONGER SHADOWS AND
COOLER MORNINGS ASSOCIATED WITH FALL, AND I
HOPE THE COOLER 71 DEGREE MORNINGS
 AREN'T JUST A TEMPORARY TEASE.

 WELCOME TO  THANKFUL THURSDAY
A BIT LATE.....
I KNOW, BUT I WILL EXPLAIN!!

WEDNESDAY EVENING WE WENT TO HELP DEE WITH
HER MOVING,  AND DIDN'T GET HOME TILL NEAR
MIDNIGHT.  SO THAT WOULD BE PRAISE
*
#1
I AM THANKFUL
SHE WAS ABLE TO GET APPROVED FOR HER NEW APT.
ABLE TO MOVE IN SO SOON,  AND THAT WE AND HER
BOYFRIEND WERE ABLE TO HELP.  SHE IS STILL IN PROCESS
BUT EVERYTHING SHE NEEDS IS THERE NOW.
*
#2
I AM THANKFUL TOO,  THAT HER BROTHER WAS ABLE TO
LOAN HER HIS TRUCK. WHICH HE JUST HAD TO BUY A
FEW WEEKS AGO, BECAUSE  HE BLEW A HEAD GASKET
ON HIS OTHER TRUCK. SO IT WAS A BLESSING HE HAD A
TRUCK TO LOAN HER OR SHE WOULD HAVE HAD
THE EXPENSE OF RENTING ONE.
*

#3
I AM THANKFUL
THAT SCOTT WAS ABLE TO GET SUCH A GOOD DEAL ON
HIS NEW TRUCK.   IT IS QUITE A NICE TRUCK, IT'S A
WHITE NISSAN FRONTIER,  AND IT ALSO HAS A/C,
WHICH IS NICE FOR HIS GIRLFRIEND, CAUSE THEY
WERE DRIVING HER CAR MOST OF THE  TIME FOR
THAT REASON. HE BOUGHT IT WHEN HE LIVED IN
KENTUCKY,  AND GUESS YOU DON'T NEED A/C
THERE AS MUCH.  COURSE, HE USED IT MOSTLY
FOR WORK WHEN HE LIVED THERE.
*
#4
I AM THANKFUL FOR DENTISTS,  HYGENISTS, AND
ENDODONTISTS.  YESTERDAY WE BOTH HAD APPTS.
TO HAVE OUR TEETH CLEANED.  WE EXPECTED TO BE
THERE AND HOUR OR SO, THEN MAYBE GO WINDOW
SHOPPING A BIT,  AND RUN TO SAM'S TO PICK
UP A FEW THINGS.

WELL,  THAT WAS THE BEST LAID PLANS OF MICE AND
MEN,  IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!  LOL

WE WOUND UP SPENDING MOST OF THE DAY AT
DENTIST OFFICES. FIRST,  WE GOT OUR CLEANING,
THEN JIM HAD SOME GUM ISSUES THEY WERE
WORKING ON AND WE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THEIR
FOR 2 HOURS.

THE ANTIBIOTICS HASN'T SEEM TO WORK WITH
THIS PIMPLE ON MY GUM,  SO THE DENTIST SAID
HE THOUGHT I NEEDED A ROOT CANAL,  SO I WAS
SET UP FOR AN APPT. AT 2:15 TO GO CHECK THAT
OUT AT AN ENDODONTIST,   THINKING IT WOULD
MEAN MORE AND STRONGER ANTIBIOTICS, AND
I WAS THINKING GREAT!!  MY STOMACH JUST
LOVES ALL THESE ANTIBIOTICS. NEVER THINKING
THEY WOULD DO A PROCEDURE
RIGHT THEN.
*
#5
I AM THANKFUL
THEY DID GO AHEAD AND DO THE ROOT CANAL THEN.
NOT THAT I WAS IN ANY WAY THRILLED ABOUT THAT
IDEA,  BUT AT LEAST IT IS DONE AND OVER WITH,
AND REALLY THE WORST PART WAS HAVING TO KEEP
YOUR MOUTH OPEN SO LONG,  AND THE ANTICIPATION
OF PAIN.  I JUST SANG SONGS WITH JESUS NAME IN
THEM TO MYSELF THE WHOLE TIME.
IT HELPS ME TO RELAX!!

I DO HAVE TO GO BACK FOR A  2ND APPT.  BUT IT
WON'T BE AS SCARY SINCE I HAVE ALREADY
BEEN THROUGH THIS PART.  IT ALSO  HOPEFULLY,MEANS
I PROBABLY WANT NEED THAT STRONGER ANTIOBIOTIC.
HE GAVE ME A RX JUST IN CASE,  BUT FOR NOW I AM
JUST TO FINISH THE ONE I AM ON NOW, AND TO TAKE
IBUPROPHEN AND TYLENOL FOR  2-3 DAYS.

WE DIDN'T GET HOME TILL ABOUT 5:15 YESTERDAY
AND I WAS NOT FEELING REAL GREAT,  FROM THE
PROCEDURE,  BUT ALSO FROM BEING OVERTIRED
AND ALSO WE DIDN'T EAT LUNCH,  WE HAD A
SMOOTHIE CAUSE I HAD TO GET SOMETHING QUICK
SO I COULD TAKE MY ANTIOBIOTIC CAUSE  I WAS
OVERDUE,  THEN WE RAN TO SAM'S AND THE REST OF
OUR LUNCH WAS A FEW OF THEIR SAMPLES,  CAUSE I
NEVER DREAMED WE WOULD BE AT THE ENDODONTIST
 THE REST OF THE DAY.
LIVE AND LEARN!!  LOL

#6
I AM THANKFUL
FOR QUIZNO'S CHEESY BROCOLI  SOUP.  I WAS
STARVING BY THE TIME WE GOT OUT OF THERE,  AND
ALSO NEEDED TO TAKE THE MED THEY GAVE ME,  BUT
NOT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. I HAD ENOUGH NOVACAINE
(OR WHATEVER THEY USE TO NUMB YOU THESE DAYS)
IN ME, THAT I THOUGHT IT  WOULD TAKE 3 DAYS TO
WEAR OFF,   NOT THAT I AM COMPLAINING MIND YOU,
CAUSE I AM IN NO WAY FOND OF  PAIN. THEY SAID
I SHOULD PROBABLY ONLY EAT SOUP UNTIL THE
NUMBNESS WORE OFF, SO WE RACKED OUR BRAIN
TRYING TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE WE COULD
GET SOME SOUP QUICK,  AND WE REMEMBERED
 QUIZNO'S CHEESY BROCOLI SOUP.

ALL I CAN SAY IT WAS THE BEST, I THINK
I EVER TASTED,  PURE COMFORT FOOD!!

FOOD TASTES SO GOOD WHEN YOU
ARE FEELING BAD AND MEGA HUNGRY!!

I AM THANKFUL
FOR IBUPROPHEN AND TYLENOL,CAUSE I WAS
FEELING RATHER SORE AND MISERABLE WHEN
I GOT HOME AND THE MEDICINE MADE ME VERY
TIRED, SO I WAS JUST GONNA KICK BACK IN THE
RECLINER FOR A BIT, THAT WAS ABOUT 6:45 P.M.,
AND THEN GET UP TO WATCH A MOVIE MAYBE.
WELL,  I NEVER GOT UP ACCEPT AT 11:00 TO EAT
 AND TAKE MEDS AGAIN,
THEN, WENT RIGHT BACK TO SLEEP.

*
#8
I AM THANKFUL
FOR GOD'S WISDOM IN GIVING US RESTORATIVE
SLEEP.  I WOKE UP THIS MORNING AT 5 SOMETHING
FEELING TOTALLY REFRESHED AND GOOD AS NEW,
 ALTHO FAMISHED!!
WHICH I FEEL IS A GOOD SIGN TOO,   THAT I AM
 ON THE MEND.
*
#9
I AM THANKFUL
FOR A KITCHEN, PANTRY AND FRIDGE THAT IS FULL
OF GOOD FOOD TO CHOOSE FROM SINCE I JUST CAME
FROM RAIDING THE KITCHEN BEFORE I STARTED TO
 FINISH THIS POST.
A HAM SANDWICH, PC. OF BANANA, BEAN DIP AND
CHIPS, CUP OF COFFEE AND FIG NEWTON LATER
I AM FINALLY FILLED UP!!  LOL

*
#10
I AM THANKFUL
FOR A PATIENT AND LOVING HUSBAND.WHO SAT
AT THE DENTIST OFFICE WAITING FOR ME, (AND
WITH OUT GRUMBLING OR COMPLAINING) HE
COULD HAVE GONE TO DEE'S (AS SHE LIVES
CLOSE BY) AND FOR HIS BEING A GOOD
CAREGIVER, GETTING ME SOUP,  RUNNING
TO THE STORE, AND WAKING ME UP AGAIN
AT 12:30 TO GIVE ME APPLESAUCE AND
MY ANTIOBIOTICS AND THEN I COULD
GO RIGHT BACK TO SLEEP AGAIN!!
 WONDERFUL!!

I AM THANKFUL
THAT GOD PROMISES TO TAKE CARE OF ALL
OUR NEEDS.  WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF EXTRA
 UN-EXPECTED EXPENSES THESE LAST FEW
 MONTHS WITH CHIROPRACTIC AND DENTAL
 EXPENSES NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE,
BUT I AM EVER REMINDED OF HOW GOOD
THE LORD HAS BEEN TO US NOW AND  IN
THE PAST,  WHEN HE WAS LAYED OFF 7 YRS.
AGO,  AND WHEN HE HAD HIS BYPASS
SURGERY 5 YRS. AGO,  HOW THE LORD MET
ALL OF THOSE NEEDS IN WAYS WE COULD
HAVE NEVER IMAGINED,  AND KNOW
HE WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL OF THIS
AS WELL.

#12
I AM THANKFUL
FOR THE BLESSING OF KNOWING GOD
AND BEING GOD'S CHILD. HE IS A FOREVER
FATHER WHO WILL NEVER LEAVE US OR
FORSAKE US,  AND WHO LOVES US,
 UNCONDITIONALLY, BUT WHO WILL
TAKE US WHERE WE DON'T WANT  TO
GO (THE ROOT CANAL CHAIR) TO PRODUCE
IN US SOMETHING WE CAN NOT PRODUCE
 ON OUR OWN.
(COURAGE AND CONFIDENCE IN HIM).

  3. Oh, Nellie, I'm so sorry about the dental procedures. I am definitely NOT a dentist kinda gal, and though I've never had a root canal, I understand they can be quite painful. I, too, would be quite thankful for the pain meds. I know when I was laid up with kidney stones a few years ago, I was very thankful for those meds!!! I am rather wimpy when it comes to pain.

I'm right there with ya praising God for his provision during your lean times. When Gary was out of work from 2003 to 2005, we saw God's hand in amazing ways. We had never really needed him to be our provider before; therefore, we never saw him that way. But in our time of need, he came through in a big way, and so for that reason, we count that time as joy.

Oh, your flower photos are SO lovely. Are they from your garden? If so, girl, you have a very green thumb!!

I am SO loving being in contact with you and getting to know you better than I knew you in the past. I owe you an email...hopefully this weekend, I'll be able to sit and type a long letter.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Love,
    Patti

  4. Nellie,

By now you (hopefully) back to normal. I was blessed just to hear you recount the goodness of the Lord! His steadfast love never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are NEW every morning. Praising God with you for a successful move, new truck, safety, health/healing, food in the pantry and loving husband and family.

I'm looking forward to meeting our newest grandchild, a 7 month old little boy our daughter and her husband are adopting. They'll arrive tomorrow afternoon.

I love hearing from you and reading about your life.

  5. #1. It is exciting when you are young to move into new dwellings. For me, with age that's the last thing I would want to do; which may be if I retire soon.
#2. I remember when my old station wagon was a help when you moved into your new house in Ft. Lauderdale!
#3. I remember your 1970 Plymouth Barracuda had no a/c! When we were young, how did we ever do without a/c!
#4. I am so thankful too. A few months ago I had to go and have a cavity taken care of. I hadn't had a cavity since I was 18 years old!
#5. I pray all is well now!!
#6. I need to eat better. My body has gotten so used to going long periods without eating that I don't have any body reflexes to it anymore but tiredness. In fact all I have eaten today is a piece of coffee roll and orange juice this morning and some cereal this afternoon. It's 8:00 pm I need to go in and eat something!!
#7. I'm thankful for sleep when I can get it. Now that I'm back to work, I keep waking up 3 or 4 times a night to see how much longer I have to sleep before I have to get up and go to work!
#8. I have such good night's of sleep when I don't have to get up for work! I sleep right straight through to 7:00. I get up at 5:15 when I have to work.
#9. Thanks for the kitchen fridge reminder! I'll be back in a minute...I'm back. I got me an Ensure. I used to think that was for sick, dying people, but it really is good for a meal substitute! Mmmm, good!
#10. I am thankful for you and Jim who have also been there for me at times when I had to go in for procedures. I don't know how people do it without loved ones and family.
#11. I'm praying for the LORD to lead me in my soon upcoming choices. I keep waiting for His guidance. I hope the answer comes soon.
#12. I am forever thankful our Holy God has everything in control and that He knows our needs and our limits. Persevere. It is becoming harder to do so, but with God all things are possible.
I love you all very much,
    Susie

  6. Hi Nellie

I am sorry that I missed your post. I could have prayed for your comfort. I have experienced so much dental work I know how you must have felt.

I need to remember to visit you each day. You are full of encoragement and so positive. That is exactly what I need as I work on focusing on what is most important and working through some issues.

    Hugs
    Janet
