Welcome to Heart Tips Tuesday -with a recipe and products

*
Greetings Sweet Friends,
*
Hope your week is going well so far!
*
I have been out working in the yard again today,
it is overcast and looks like Winter,  but it is warm
like Spring.  Actually it is 75 degrees today and we
are suppose to get pm showers, and more rain for
the rest of the week, until Sat. I think.
*
I got about as much accomplished today as yester-
day,  so hoping that maybe one more day will get
the front yard finished,  then I can start out back.
That is.......if the weather cooperates with me!! lol
*
Today I wanted to share a recipe that was inspired
by Becky over at Holiday in the Sun,  yet I have
tweaked it some since I really didn't know exactly
how she went about it.
And we loved it so much I could hardly wait
to share it with you!!
*
While at Walmart shopping last week,  I saw this, and
got me thinking about what I could do with it.
*

*
I happened to think about Becky saying something
about a pizza she made with tomatoes, basil and
cheese,  so thought this would probably make neat
heart healthy  pizza's, so decided to try it out.
*
I'm making up a name for it as I go here.
How about
Flatout Tomato, Basil Pizza
by Becky and Nellie

Ingredients:
.
Flatout bread
*
ripe tomatoes (preferably roma or plum)
*
swiss 2% cheese (slices or shredded)
I used slices just because it was all I had,
so I had to pc. it around the edges.
*
about 8 large fresh basil leaves
(cut up  or torn in  pcs.)
*
granulated garlic powder
*
4-5 garlic cloves, peeled and sliced
(optional)
*
Olive oil

Directions:
*
Heat oven to 350 degrees and put 2 flatout breads
side by side on a cookie sheet.
*
Brown them for about 5 mins. then flip them over
and brown another 5 mins or so.  You want them
to be a brown, firm and crispy,  not floppy.
*
Take them out of the oven,  and use a pastry
brush to put a nice coat of olive oil on top of
each one.
*
Then put the cheese on,
*
Now put the thinly sliced tomatoes on,
( I would say about 1/4 inch for the slices)
*
Cut up the fresh basil in pcs. (they don't have
to be real small) or actually you could probably just
 tear it into pcs.
(this was my first attempt with the basil so the first time
I didn't use as much, so I doubled it the 2nd time.
(What you see on the ingredients is already doubled)
*
Then sprinkle with the garlic powder to your liking,
I was heavy on the garlic, cause we really like it.
*
Add the sliced garlic if you want
*
then drizzle olive oil on the top.
*
Put it back in the oven @ 350,  and bake about
7-10 mins.,  watch fairly closely because you
just want the cheese to melt and the tomatoes
to cook a little.
*
Take it out slice with a knife or pizza cutter.
*
And you will love love love it!
*
Delicious and healthy.  My hubby liked it so
much he wanted it again on Friday night, so he made it
while I was making beef stroganoff for Saturday.  This
time he used mozzarella and we didn't like it nearly as well
as with the swiss cheese, which is odd,  cause I am
not usually a fan of Swiss cheese,  so using
what you have sometimes leads to good things!!
It actually sort of tasted like provolone cheese.
*
My daughter made it and used 4 cheese Italian blend
and they loved that, so just play around with it!
The fresh basil really makes it!!
*

*
Miss Becky also told me about these frozen enchiladas,
and when I went looking for them I also found the Tamale Verde
and Vegetable Lasagna.
*
We rarely buy any frozen dinners like this, but these are organic
and have good oils, The one in the middle and the one on the
right are higher in Sat. fat (5grams and 4.5 grams) than the enchiladas,
so hubby and I just split them and eat a salad or some veggies with
them, or split an enchilada as well.
The enchildadas only have 1 gram of sat. fat,  which is super!!
*
And did I say how delicious they are!! and they are
gluten free as well,  for anyone who has that problem.
We have only tried these 3 products but we love
all of them!! and she does have others but you just
have to be careful about the sat. fat levels.
*

*
Here's a couple of products that are really good.
*
This salad dressing tastes so great on a romaine
salad, with purple onion , strawberries and walnuts.
Delicious and great for spring!!
*
I use this parmesan in my lasagna along with  1%
cottage cheese and 2% mozzarella or Italian blend
cheese,  you can not tell the difference.
Everyone loves my Lasagna!
*

*
This turkey sausage is good,  in fact,  I use it in my stuffing
at Thanksgiving instead of the old kind.
*
I used to get the Vans waffles awhile back but my publix
quite carrying them,  but I found these wheat and gluten free
ones at another publix.  I tried them yesterday, Heather
and they were wonderful.
*
Here is how I ate them!!  My favorite way!!
*
*
*
These are with peaches, pecans and whip cream,
but bananas and walnuts or strawberries and pecans
are just as delightful,  and are wonderful for spring
and summer breakfast or even as a healthy snack.
*
Well,  Sweet Folks,
that is it for today.  Hope you see something
you like and you try that pizza!  Don't think you
will be disappointed in the least!!
and the aroma coming from the oven is
ooo-laaa-laaa!
*
Hope you all have a dandy evening
with your family!

I am working on a Italian style Pork roast,
with roasted carrots and parsnips,  and
thinking I might make that veggie Lasagna to go
with it!!  Made me hungry for it when I
saw those pictures!!  lol
*
Have a Good One!
Blessings N' Hugs,
Nellie

P.S.  If you would please pray for an old and dear friend
of mines hubby who went to the hospital yesterday and
has 3 bleeding ulcers.  They cauterized them to stop
the bleeding but if that doesn't work, they will have to
do surgery.  None of us like this hospital, and they have
no insurance as well.  they also had to give him 3 units
of blood cause he has lost so much and is very weak
and diabetic on top of everything else.
Thanks!!

  1. The pizza sounds delicious! I love pizza and have made them before for lunch and snacks on whole wheat pitas. I will look for these flat breads and try it on them! I enjoy your Tuesday posts!!! Thank you!

Just so you know, the song of the day that I've been singing is, "He Lives" since I got all my Easter decorations out yesterday. What a beautiful thought, "You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart." Enjoy your day!!!

  2. Nellie - I so love waffles and yours with fruit and nuts on top look so yummy! I've also tried those flat breads and thought they were great. I wanted to let you know that I tried to send an email - went under your "contact me" on the sidebar but it said the "mail client...somethin' somethin'" was not installed correctly?!? Well, I don't know about all that except that I couldn't email you. If you would like, you can email me at emjt143@yahoo.com and give me your address - I will get a card in the mail. Thanks friend. Have a beautiful Wednesday.

  3. Well - I'm not sure what to do about the email woes?? Just checking - in my address did you have the NUMBERS 143 after emjt? Sometimes folks think that is an L. If that's not the problem, I am at a loss. Sure would like to send the card - but, nevertheless, they have been in my prayers often.
